  1. I think if a veteran 4-3 LB gets cut I can easily see Nix picking one up to add some depth to the team, as previously mentioned a backup FS could also be in the waiver wire list for the Bills. The reason I see the need for a veteran LB is because while Moats and Bradham are nice young backups I see Tank more as a practice squad player and there could be a need for a 6th LB on the roster.
  2. Can't hate on Lee at all dude gave it his all while he was here, and we got a 4th rounder for his departure. I am just really glad that Lee got to play on a winning team and in the AFC title game last year.
  3. I think they are likely bringing him as a guy to help the QB's out with Chan's system, or the guy is just visiting a couple of his old coaches. I seriously doubt that the guy is going to play.
  4. Nix's last two drafts were pretty good so far on paper. But the one draft that has had two full seasons to pan out (The 2010 draft) isn't looking like a very good draft. Even if Spiller pans out to be a very good running back (Which the jury is still out on) his 2nd round pick Troup isn't doing so well two years in, and the 3rd rounder Carrington hasn't panned out so far either, that means two years later his 2nd and 3rd round picks could both be cut. And the rest of his draft has either been cut or isn't looking too good. As much as I like Nix I have to say that had that 2010 draft had a little more impact the team could maybe be that much closer to being in the playoffs.
  5. Also keep in mind that if you were worried about the one Washington drive where they scored a TD you have to understand that the Defense was playing a very base scheme in the pre-season (Let alone the first pre-season game). The D-line looked stout the LB's decent and the secondary OK. Most defenses in preseason are usually just line up and go, they rarely blitz, pull stunts or line up differently.
  6. The guy is an athlete but just because he is tall and fast doesn't mean he could catch the ball or take the hits in the NFL. Lots of track guys play college football and get drafted in the pros and turn out to be busts.
  7. From what polls I have been looking at Obama seems to have a lead of 5-9 points and at worst his lead is 3 points. I don't know of too many that show Romney with a lead. Its sad that the GOP couldn't have a better challenger than Romney, Romney is much like John Kerry a terrible pick from a mediocre field. Obama is going to likely be reelected, what I would really like to see is Gary Johnson get into the debates and get third parties a voice.
  8. I thought the D looked good, I thought the offense not so much. I think that its nothing to look too much into, I always like to look at the 2nd and 3rd regular season games as the most meaningful of games.
  9. What team trades themselves into a QB controversy? The Jets are morons for the Tebow trade its going to tear their team apart.
  10. Its basically blind speculation. If they cut Young its not going to be till the final cuts, they are going to give Thigpen and Young the full camp to see exactly what they have. Preseason hasn't started yet, lets see what VY has in meaningful game action before we call him a bust.
  11. Looks good nice fresh coat of paint.
  12. Then again Mankins and Vollmer could come back healthy, and Brain Waters could come back to play this year (Although at age 35 you could make a case that his play could decline, but he played well last year), and Solder could come in and play well at LT, and Koppen could hold down the center position. But that's three major positions on the O-line that have serious questions two due to injury and one due to age/retirement and the other two are far from locks anyway (Solder played RT last year and Koppen isn't regarded as a good center). The realistic point I think Bills fans are making is that the Pats* have serious concerns on the roster (Is Lloyd a true deep threat, how good will there O-line be, and their D isn't a good unit either), yes they are the favorite but to act as though they are a complete team is just not true.
  13. The Pats* are for sure the favorite but its not a lock. Their D has been consistently terrible the last few years and while investing their top 3 picks into it they have lost more proven starters and their second rounder was viewed as an enormous reach, so there isn't exactly a guarantee that it will be improved. Their offense's biggest issue last season was lacking a deep threat on the outside. Well to address that situation they added Brandon Lloyd, while a nice player he isn't that traditional burner and his numbers throughout his career are very inconsistent. And now their O-line is actually pretty suspect with Mankins and Vollmer on the PUP and Waters and Gallery MIA and retired their O-line isn't looking like such a sure thing. The Pats* deserve to be the favorites, no disputing that, to be the man you got to beat the man. But are they a lock? Not so fast their roster has a significant amount of holes in it.
  14. Its almost like Chan is hoping that two of these guys (Roosevelt, Easley, Haggan, Graham, or Jones and whoever) will step up and be able to fill the #2 WR role and the other provide decent depth in case of injury. Its kind of a crapshoot. But lets see if it pays off come pre-season and of course regular season. I think its the biggest weakness of the team at this point. Yeah LB's on the defensive side of the ball, but its a group that isn't as important to the D.
  15. The longer this off-season goes on the more I see the Pats* and the division as a whole being vulnerable. The Jets offense is a mess and the team is going to be torn apart by Tebow vs Sanchez (Seriously who trades themselves into a QB controversy). The Dolphins are a mess at QB and are pretty much rebuilding with a new coach, and their D which was pretty good at times last season is switching back to a 4-3 so that's going to take a step back. Now the Pats* seem to be showing weaknesses. Gallery and Waters were expected to compete for the starting RG spot and now they both might be out, and Mankins one of the few sure things on that line is on the PUP list. And Vollmer their starting RT is on the PUP list with back issues. Matt Light also retired early in the off-season. Now Nate Solder is a decent replacement at LT but with Vollmer having back issues puts that RT spot in question, the combo of Waters/Gallery is gone at RG, Mankins is coming off of reconstruction surgery and is on the PUP list that could spell issues at LG, and Dan Koppen isn't a sure thing at Center. That Pats* O-line is suddenly becoming a vulnerability.
  16. I think its pretty much a done deal that the Bills are going to bring him into camp. Obviously its going to be a camp tryout with no penalty of cutting him in the final cuts. I wouldn't be surprised if at some point the Bills scour the waiver wire for a veteran LB as a back up ESP if we suffer an injury there.
  17. 29 years old (30 come October) familiar with the franchise and has been pretty successful after an unsuccessful stint with the Bills (Jim Leonhard was ranked by football prospectus now football outsiders as one of the worst starters at any defensive position during the 2007 season, can't blame the Bills for letting that walk) he found success with Baltimore and the Jets. The Bills are thin at safety with Scott being a flex linebacker type. Which mean Searcy is our only real backup, I think that signing Leohnard would be a good move, bring him into camp and see if he fits the scheme. If not you can always convert a CB to the backup FS spot.
  18. I have stopped giving the NFL Hall of Fame legitimacy a long time ago. When a guy like Cris Carter has a hard time getting in because he never won a Super Bowl (Haven't seen any other explanation) proves to me how suspect the selection process is. Andre I can see being on the borderline but Cris Carter and Tim Brown having a hard time getting in? Come on.
  19. I don't see Cleveland gutting their front office at this point in the season to poach Whaley from us. The season is a month away from starting. If come next off season Whaley is getting offered GM jobs I have to think that they would just give him the job here to keep him and just keep Nix as the head of scouting. I have to think that if it came down to Nix or Whaley they would keep Whaley and Nix would be the one that would rather take a lesser position in the organization due to his age.
  20. I agree that Fitz's mechanics are far from conventional and they aren't refined. But lets hope Lee straightens him out enough to where he can improve. Fitz gets it done despite the mechanics, but if Lee is this guru that he is advertised to be he will improve Fitz. The D is looking good but its all got to come together on the field. Very rarely great players end up being great coaches. Those who can't play coach. Lacking the great physical tools often leads to one being a student of the game. The physical limitations often keep a lot of people from making it in the bigs, but those who love the game and want to be around it end up coaching and that's why a lot of people who suck at the sport are great coaches.
  21. I think that they will give him till the final cuts to make the team. Hopefully the guy gets stronger as camp goes on, because I think that out of the slot he was a really good corner and I think with the other guys on the roster its possible he could be in a better situation. But I think that they will give him a fair shake to make the roster.
  22. Its make or break for Fitz this season, dude has to lead us to a winning record.
  23. The Jets proved how stupid they were by trading themselves into a QB controversy. I don't think Mark Sanchez is a very good QB but the guy took the team to back to back AFC title games, and is coming off of a season in which he threw for about 3500 yards, 26 TD's to 18 INT's, and 56.7 completion percentage (Yeah its not very good but its the best of his career and its been rising a little each year). The guy isn't a complete stiff and of course is young, why compromise his development by bringing in a QB that's going to split the fanbase and rock the guys confidence, and most importantly isn't an upgrade over what you had? Say what you will about Fitz but the organization is at least putting him in the best position to have success by not having a QB controversy and a major distraction upset the teams chemistry.
  24. Its one of two million dollar questions about our offense. One is obviously is Fitz the real deal, two is who is going to be the number 2 WR. Hopefully someone comes out of nowhere much like Stevie did two years ago.
  25. Its going to get proven on the field one way or another. If Gilmore is a shut down type corner and makes a nice impact year one is anyone going to care if Luke Kuechly is a really good NFL player? I liked Kuechly a lot going into the draft and thought getting him would fill one of our biggest holes on defense. I thought of Kuechly as a Brian Urlacher type LB who is good against the run but great in coverage. All in all you can't blame the Bills as Kuechly wasn't available for them to draft at that point and they took Gilmore who himself filled a need on defense.
