  1. This team isn't going anywhere so I say unless EJ blows the doors off in pre-season and camp and Kolb looks competent just start Kolb and let EJ sit and learn the system while Kolb takes the hits. Once the season starts to get out of hand they should play EJ let him take some snaps. The trend is to start young QB's and just let it roll. But it should be a case by case basis. If EJ is a little unpolished why not try to have just sit back and learn the system and being an NFL player and just have him start the last few games to get his feet wet? Seems like what the 49ers did with Kap was to bring him along slowly.
  2. I think we will see EJ start 6-8 games. I think Marone knows this team isn't going anywhere this year so why rush EJ out there when he doesn't need to. I know the recent trend is to just throw rookie QB's out there but its usually now always the best idea. The 49ers didn't do it with Kap and had Alex Smith not gotten hurt who knows if they would have started him by now. EJ seems like he needs some polishing and I think sitting for a little while could be a good thing.
  3. Right now I suspect they feel Sanders can play guard and Hariston/Pears at RT. I think they will bring in a waiver wire Guard much like Reinhart and Urbik were brought in a few ears ago.
  4. He was also you know cheating
  5. The way I would slot it. DE- Kyle Williams/Alex Carrington NT- Branch/Kyle Williams DE- Dareus OLB- Lawson MLB- Dansby/Brandham MLB- Alonso OLB- Mario Williams CB- Gilmore FS- Byrd SS- Searcy CB- A.Williams/McKelvin With the drafting of two SS I think we will see more of A.Williams as a corner and I think Brooks will split the nickle with McKelvin. I also think Carrington will be a flex guy on the D-line as they are going to shift a lot of people around. I also wouldn't put it past Nix to find a DL on the waiver wire or add a vet in free agency seems like they are a little thin along the Line. Throw in Hughes and Anderson as rotational pass rushers.
  6. Moats flashes enough ability and has been at a position were there has been absolutely little to no talent for years now.
  7. Bart Scott and David Harris were a nasty combo for a couple of years (Maybe we can bring Bart Scott in for the minimum now that Sheppard is gone couldn't be bad depth but I digress) and Revis was the best corner in the game. Our defensive line is probably just as stout and I would say our edge rushers are better (Also Vernon Gholston was not the starter it was Calvin Pace) and the back ends of each secondary about even. I see the MLB position and Revis making that defense on paper better. But if we sign Dansby and Gilmore develops I could see the defense being a solid bunch, right now I see 3 pieces that could be missing MLB, CB, and NT but there is certainly a level of excitement with the defense seeing how the scheme will fit.
  8. I hope we get this Dansby deal done, I never really liked Shep but I felt like he was at least a capable backup. Now I feel like this team needs two MLB's but getting Dansby would at least give us a viable veteran to hold the fort down.
  9. When you are young at WR and QB there are going to be growing pains. Also the defense might have some growing pains.
  10. The type of guy you take in the 7th round high reward guy if they stay healthy and develop a tool or two.
  11. Really cool photos, I loved the one with Carrie Fisher sleeping on a snow mobile lots of adorable photos from her in there.
  12. This was a swap of semi-underachieving young players who appear to be a better fit for the opposite teams scheme. The Colts need depth at a pure MLB spot. Sheppard is just that a pure 4-3 MLB a mediocre one but a guy who can hold down a back up spot there. I like this move but lets not pretend like we got a steal here, Hughes is not very highly regarded.
  13. Tightend and Guard seem like obvious weaknesses on offense. On defense I would put MLB and CB at the top of the list. Certainly other positions are of concern but those are the obvious ones.
  14. They made Kiper look bad by taking Manuel higher than he projected. He under estimated how in demand Manuel was and it made him look bad. These grades have nothing to do with how good or bad the players are but rather just how well teams drafted according to Kipers board. But Kipers board is only one mans projections which based off how high he had a lot of players who fell a lot farther than he thought means he is prone to mistakes. That being said I like Kiper but he has to be taken with a grain of salt. McShay I just hate I don't consider his opinion to be worth anything.
  15. The way I look at it is the Bills likely have enough cap space to sign their rookies and have a good amount of money left over to sign Byrd and bring in a vet or two if they so choose. So why at this point when free agency is over for the most part would we cut Brad Smith who would at least give us depth at WR and be able to be used in some gadget plays. Unless they need the room to extend Byrd I don't see it happening there wouldn't be enough of a benefit
  16. I live in New Jersey too and I too hear a lot from Jets fans. The opinion of Brandon Moore I got was that he was a decent guard. Not great but not good but not terrible either. That's what I hear, and from the times I watch the Jets I see Brandon Moore as being decent.
  17. I still think we should bring in Dansby on a one or two year deal, less than 3 million per. We are uber thin at MLB even with Kiko. If Sheppard and Kiko take the job from him good but what if we get injuries there? I don't buy into the idea that signing Dansby would take away playing time from a young player. If a guy like Brandham or Sheppard gets benched for Dansby than they simply weren't good enough.
  18. I don't mind them separating the 1st round as a Thursday night event. But personally I wouldn't mind seeing them shifting over the 2nd and 3rd round to Saturday afternoon and 4-7 to Sunday. I don't like the placement of rounds 2 and 3 on a Friday night. And these tributes they keep shoehorning into the draft are silly. If every pick has some sort of tribute then it becomes meaningless.
  19. I still think Nix is going to bring in a guard either off the waiver wire or a current free agent. It seems like we need at least another body along the O-line.
  20. I don't think its an O-Line Heavy draft because there were so many great O-linemen. I think it was more so that it was a good draft for O-lineman and a terrible draft for QB's and other positions which vaulted a lot of O-lineman up the board. I would have liked for them to take a flyer on a Guard in the 5th but I guess they will scour the waiver wire and free agents for a guard. Brandon Moore is still out there wouldn't be a bad stop gap.
  21. A lot of "experts" who say we over reached for EJ saying that he would have been there in the late 2nd or early 3rd or even in the 3rd or 4th (like McShay Who had EJ as he 6th rated QB) were over blowing it to cover up their horrendous prognostications and bad draft boards. I think we still could have traded back to the 20-25 range and maybe picked up another 3rd and 5th or 6th and still gotten EJ. I think there were a lot of teams that were looking to trade back into the late 1st to take EJ.
  22. If 40 times determined success then the Oakland Raiders would be a lot more successful than the have been the past few seasons. Just saying simply having fast guys doesn't equate to success.
  23. I like describing him as simply a DB, this defense is very interesting can't wait to see how it comes together.
  24. We had a lot of holes on this roster and realistically outside of picks in the first 3 or 4 rounds we aren't going to be able fill holes with draft picks realistically. I thought TE and Guard were the needs largely ignored by Nix and company. Chandler and Urbik were pulled off the waiver wire. Maybe Nix feels like the can get guys off waivers or that are still on the market for cheap. Have to think that TE just isn't high up on the list for Nix for whatever reason.
  25. Best draft ever? It could be if EJ pans out but its a risky draft for sure. I like the WR's and MLB that we picked up in the 2nd and 3rd rounds but it all depends on how they pan out.
