Youthful Bills could be looking to get even younger.
billsfan89 replied to ChanOverChin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lindell is a goner, Tjax on the bubble, B.Scott likely gone, but Pears and Freddie should be safe. -
Good space eater somewhat stout against the run not a good pass rusher. His biggest knock was that he didn't rush the passer. But the Pats* defense did see a uptick being a pretty good defense against the run as he and Wilfork were a good combination up the middle. If he still wants to play I wouldn't mind bringing him in. Team seems to be pretty thin on the D-line. Dareus, Branch, and K.Williams and Carrington are a good group but I don't expect much from Troup and we could use another big body.

Miami writer: Stevie Johnson's a No. 2
billsfan89 replied to GOBILLS78's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly people seem to always think that if you are not AJ Green or Meagtron then you aren't a number one receiver. -
This most definately is not the same old bills

The Bills have just beaten the optimism out of me. I will believe it when I see it. -
2013 R....O....Y.....
billsfan89 replied to Over 29 years of fanhood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Should be a strong possibility although its going to depend on how many starts he gets if Marrone holds him out 6 starts its going to be hard to see him winning over a player who played well over the course of a year. -
Is anyone else worried about Da'Rick Rogers
billsfan89 replied to bufffan031's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Odds are the guy might still be getting adjusted to being back out there on the field (Remember the college season end 5 months ago). Its also rookie camp who gives a ****. -
Good news for Torell Troupe and Marcus Easley??
billsfan89 replied to HerdMenatlity1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Easley was a special teams standout in college that might help his chances. I hope he goes through camp healthy guy seems like he has over come a lot of injuries guy deserves a chance to make it. -
Bart Scott is still a free agent, wouldn't be a bad guy to bring in as a backup. We are really devoid of depth at MLB, and it helps that he knows the new defensive system.

Brad Smith, Lindell, and T.Jax make the most sense. Out of the three I don't see Brad Smith going anywhere till next season for one reason we have a lot of youth at the skill positions and Smith provides a lot of versatility and experience esp if Marrone would like to do 4 wide sets often. Unless the three young receivers and TJ all show up huge in camp I can see Smith staying but he is certainly on the bubble. Lindell good as gone 3 million saved, T.Jax likely gone 1.75 towards the cap saved. Pears and Smith I think stay but Smith is far from 100%.

The 13 million includes Byrd's franchise tag number.

9 breakout candidates (according to one NFL writer)
billsfan89 replied to BillsWatch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think Dareus will at the very least return to where he was towards the end of his rookie year a very good defensive linemen. But what I hope is he breaks out to be a dominant player though. He needs to develop into the anchor for the defensive line, if him and Kyle put together good seasons and Branch and Carrington make solid contributions we could be looking at a really good front 7. My only concern is depth we go 4 deep on the D-line, I would really like to see the Bills bring in a vet NT or DE to add some depth to the D-line. And of course MLB seems like they should at the very least add some depth there a guy like Dansby would be ideal as I think he would be a starter but even a guy like Bart Scott could at least be a backup. -
I wouldn't mind it, but I would prefer they didn't just seems like its unnecessary.

EJ's Florida Game Lucky for Bills?
billsfan89 replied to Last Guy on the Bench's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One thing I like about the EJ pick is how well researched it seemed. They liked the bad weather workout, the big hands, the cannon arm, the accuracy, the mobility, and his size. They seemed to know what made QB's in bad weather successful and EJ fit that mold. I don't know if EJ will be successful but I like the qualities they sought out in EJ. -

Mario Williams has to know you can't be seasonal. -
Article on Alonso's potential impact...also tidbits on EJ3
billsfan89 replied to eball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well we did have Lynch and Freddie at the time so drafting CJ was at the time was a luxury when there were so many other needs for a team devoid of talent at a lot of positions. I am just saying while CJ was a good pick because he is a good player but had we found a good player at another position that pick could have been more useful. -
I have a Dareus, looking to buy a Bruce Smith jersey soon.

Poll: Are we total suckers again?
billsfan89 replied to The Voice of Truth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We are suckers until proven otherwise. Its just hard to buy into anything without seeing any results. -
2010 seemed like it was a great draft with Gronk and Hernandez and possibly McCourty. 2011 I wouldn't call anything special Solder been solid but those RB's they drafted have been OK and the rest of the draft meh. 2012 jury still out. Pats* draft has been better but I wouldn't say they have been knocking it out of the park.

Fred Davis is kicking himself post draft
billsfan89 replied to Floridabillsfan1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
RG3 makes me think that Fred Davis doesn't feel too bad about not having EJ or Kolb throwing to him. -
This team isn't going anywhere so I say unless EJ blows the doors off in pre-season and camp and Kolb looks competent just start Kolb and let EJ sit and learn the system while Kolb takes the hits. Once the season starts to get out of hand they should play EJ let him take some snaps. The trend is to start young QB's and just let it roll. But it should be a case by case basis. If EJ is a little unpolished why not try to have just sit back and learn the system and being an NFL player and just have him start the last few games to get his feet wet? Seems like what the 49ers did with Kap was to bring him along slowly.
-
I think we will see EJ start 6-8 games. I think Marone knows this team isn't going anywhere this year so why rush EJ out there when he doesn't need to. I know the recent trend is to just throw rookie QB's out there but its usually now always the best idea. The 49ers didn't do it with Kap and had Alex Smith not gotten hurt who knows if they would have started him by now. EJ seems like he needs some polishing and I think sitting for a little while could be a good thing.
-
Right now I suspect they feel Sanders can play guard and Hariston/Pears at RT. I think they will bring in a waiver wire Guard much like Reinhart and Urbik were brought in a few ears ago.

Would Brady have been as good...
billsfan89 replied to Captain Hindsight's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was also you know cheating -
The way I would slot it. DE- Kyle Williams/Alex Carrington NT- Branch/Kyle Williams DE- Dareus OLB- Lawson MLB- Dansby/Brandham MLB- Alonso OLB- Mario Williams CB- Gilmore FS- Byrd SS- Searcy CB- A.Williams/McKelvin With the drafting of two SS I think we will see more of A.Williams as a corner and I think Brooks will split the nickle with McKelvin. I also think Carrington will be a flex guy on the D-line as they are going to shift a lot of people around. I also wouldn't put it past Nix to find a DL on the waiver wire or add a vet in free agency seems like they are a little thin along the Line. Throw in Hughes and Anderson as rotational pass rushers.

Moats flashes enough ability and has been at a position were there has been absolutely little to no talent for years now.
