Washington signs ex-Bills LB Nick Barnett
billsfan89 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Good for him, dude deserved a shot to continue his career. He was a pretty decent linebacker his first year here. Then he seemed to fall back the past season. I still think he could play some valuable snaps as a backup, although I think his days as a starter are gone. -
They don't, its a glorified exhibition game no need to try to add some fake legitimacy. Even if you wanted to make the game matter what would you do? What would you attach to it that would make a difference? The players go through a full training camp, preseason, 16 regular season games, and playoff games. Why would they want to go all out during the pro-bowl? Why risk the injury why put your body one more game? Just make it a complete exhibition for the the bye week of the superbowl.

Manuel/Cam Newton and the relevance of QBs in today's game
billsfan89 replied to Ronin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You don't want to shell shock a QB, yes Kolb stinks but if EJ isn't ready they shouldn't rush him in to a bad situation that won't work out. -
Should we be concerned about Dareus?

I can't wait till we get to at the very least pre-season games, these non-stories are frustrating -
Mario's toes are hurting him ....
billsfan89 replied to shoretalk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My concern went from .5 out of 10 to now a 4 out of 10. Weird injury that is getting serious evaluation? Not uber concerned but it is a concern that is growing. Hopefully its just a weird thing that resolves its self soon. -
Seeing as we don't have a pure backup NT, Troup easily has a role he could fill for this team if he stays healthy and plays up to his potential.

Mario's toes are hurting him ....
billsfan89 replied to shoretalk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Eh it could have just been he dropped something on his toe and then he just decided to sit out a day. Unless this drags on for more than just a day or two I wouldn't really be too concerned. -
Matt Ryan: The Latest $100 Million Man in the NFL
billsfan89 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The guy has been very consistent and dam good in the regular season. Peyton Manning took a while to have success in the playoffs (And most people would say that he still isn't the best playoff QB). 4719 yards 32 TD's and 14 INT's 2012 4177 yards 29 TD's and 12 INT's 2011 3705 yards 28 TD's and 9 INT's 2010 Those are some dam good statistics over the past three years and his first two years weren't too bad either. 10-6. 9-7, 13-3, 10-6, and 13-3 have been the Falcons records while he has been QB. Its a QB driven league for good QB play you have to pay up the nose. -
Other teams Training Camp injuries
billsfan89 replied to BillsWatch's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jets CB are a pretty decent bunch they have Cromartie a legit number one, they just drafted Dee Millner in the 1st round, and they have Kyle Wilson who is decent. Jets are a mess on offense but their D isn't bad. -

LeCharles Bentley. I remember he was one of the top free agents in the 2006 Class, a 26 year old center at the time who had made the probowl twice for the Saints. He was considered the top prize for the Browns that year but he suffered a freak injury in the first play of training camp. He collected big money that first year and then after a comeback attempt in 2007 could get back on the field again (Looked up those last few bits). -

Living in NJ I am always torn when people use the term NJ Jets to insult the Jets. On one hand I hate the Jets and love to see them being insulted. On the other using my beloved state as the method to insult them isn't something I am really appreciative of (Also Jets fans in New Jersey wouldn't consider that an insult anyway). -
An indicator of the Bills implementing analytics
billsfan89 replied to BillnutinHouston's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its obviously just a tool one of many. Your eyes and intuition are the easiest way to tell how hard a guy is playing for the most part. But it could be useful to manage in game fatigue and prevent injury, knowing with a more finite degree of accuracy how tired a guy is could make your subs more exact. Also knowing if a guy is slightly favoring one of his sides could indicate some sort of soon to be injury if its very heavy. Overall I doubt a football coach is going to be a slave to a computer but its not a bad thing to have more ways to look at the same issue. First off the sound quality on vinyl is far superior to MP3 (Most stuff is recorded in analog and MP3 is also compressed) although MP3 is far more convenient. Some (More indie artists) acts still release vinyl its a niche market but people (Myself included) still like the superior quality and classic feel to it. I also don't understand why you don't embrace the future. No civilization has ever had success clinging to the past. -
Its all a business ploy keep dangling LA out there, even if one team moves keep the threat alive by saying there could be two teams. The NBA is doing it with Seattle, The NHL is doing it with various Canadian markets. You always need one or two cities chomping at the bit to get a team in order to make your relocation threats have merit.

Colin Cowherd NFL season predictions
billsfan89 replied to dascottbills28's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Colin Cowherd sucks his opinion has zero value. But 6 wins is a realistic expectation for the Bills, rookie QB rookie coach its not a recipe for instant success. I think the team will win 7 but considering the development its not terrible. Just look for player development and hope. -
Makes me think they really like Hughes, not missing much but I didn't see the harm in keeping Anderson to see how he does in camp. I mean they had to pay him some money this year (I think) so why not keep him.

So Much For Worrying About Donald Jones
billsfan89 replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jones had his moments but in the end he was just another WR. Easily replaceable by guys with more potential. Overall there was the fear he could turn into something in New England and bit us but it wasn't a very realistic fear. -
Should Bills pick up Jahvid Best?
billsfan89 replied to KeisterHollow's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he sits out a year and wants to come back I wouldn't scoff at bringing him in on a minimum deal. However I don't think he is going to play this year and its likely he is done. -
Dallas thinking of signing available LT Bell
billsfan89 replied to simpleman's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bell seems like he can still be a decent backup. When Bell was at his best he was a slightly above average LT but he got hurt and hasn't really been any good since he had that one year. -
Fair assessment this team is in transition despite some talent areas they are way too inexperienced at key positions to make a run at the playoffs this year.

Jauron and Gailey were not considered good hires at all when they were picked. They were second or even third tier retreads. But I agree that until its proven all it is is potential and time fillers before the season starts. The one big thing that the Marone hire has going for it is he was a coaching candidate that was drawing interest from other teams. He wasn't the best of the rest. Reports were that a few other teams (Multiple teams I knew the Chargers were one of them) were highly interested in Marone. I like to hear that we got a coach that was highly thought of by other teams. Maulary, Gailey, and Jauron were all second or third tier candidates. I am still wait and see myself but I am not merely hoping for success when I know its likely to fail. I am hoping for this chance at success to pan out.

Rookie Head coach and rookie QB really makes me question wither or not the team will really be able to make the playoffs this season. All I am hoping for is to be hopeful once this season ends. I want to see a defense that appears to be headed in the right direction and an offense with a promising QB and talent around that QB. We are likely a year away from the playoffs. EJ needs time and Kolb is a caretaker QB. The defense is a total wildcard and the talent in the offense is young in certain areas. Lets not forget that the head coach is a rookie which so there will be an adjustment period there. My optimistic scenario is EJ looks good enough to start and looks promising in an 8-8 season were the D looked to be improved and the weapons around EJ looked to have room to grow. And Marone and EJ look like they could be the real deal. The team needs to go through some growing pains and bring in another free agent and draft class to supplement the short comings of the roster. Yes I know 8-8 is hardly anything to be happy about but when your two most important on and off the field position are rookies it makes for a good foundation going forward.

How long does Pettine stay with us?
billsfan89 replied to White Linen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It all depends how good the Bills D is and how in demand he is as a head coaching prospect. If the Bills D stinks he is gone soon. If the Bills D is good then its all going to depend on how much attention he is drawing as a head coach. Make no mistake he came here to become a head coach as he will get the full credit for the defense bad or good. -
How should the Bills utilize graham and Goodwin?
billsfan89 replied to KeepHopeAlive's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Design plays to get both of those guys in space, use end arounds and screens too. I think both guys can flourish if you create for them. I feel like Stevie and possibly/hopefully Woods and Rodgers are guys that can create for themselves while Graham and Goodwin need to have plays designed for them. I do feel like they might also be able to try big plays down field for them too but those short screens and end arounds are good for them. -
I have a feeling they will carry 7 WR's with Brad Smith being on of them, good gadget players can run the wild cat adds a good wrinkle and experience to the roster. Smith also is a quality return man, Even with the Byrd situation its not like the Bills are hard up against the cap this year they can afford Smith its just a question of how good he is and I think he is good enough to make the roster.
