NFL Cheerleaders Preseason Pics
billsfan89 replied to Mark Vader's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Cheerleaders have to the most trivial thing some football fans actually care about. -
Da'rick Rogers cleared waivers
billsfan89 replied to Floridabillsfan1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bingo this guy is done with Buffalo, 75 spots, if they valued him as a PS candidate they would have held on to him until the final cuts. -
I think its possible that they didn't want to show more than they already have. Maintain an element of surprise. But I was very shocked to see the D-line get bullied around and the defense look very much like last years defense often letting the offense attack it. Hope I am right that it was just a vanilla look.

Why is no one concerned about this...
billsfan89 replied to sirebors's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The defense needs to establish its self, so you could have Byrd play the season out and then franchise him again and trade him to another team willing to pay him a big contract. But having Byrd give the team a good season will help the defense then you could ship him out for picks (He should fetch a nice haul if he keeps playing at the same level and is healhty) if the sides aren't close. My thought is that Byrd was looking to be paid as the best FS is football. The team was willing to pay him a good deal but not go crazy. I would have loved for this to be resolved with Byrd getting a fair deal but its clear the two are at a stalemate and that the right thing for both sides is for Byrd to play out the year and see what happens. -
I haven't heard anything about Sheppard good or bad from the Colts seems to be a middling player for them. Loved the trade when it happened still love it now. Only criticism of the trade that was valid was about how thin we were at MLB and trading away an MLB might not be the best idea, my response was always that Sheppard could easily be replaced while Hughes had much more tantalizing potential

a quick review of the short tenure of GM Whaley

Too early to tell, lets see how this plays out. We have all seen good on paper teams and moves fail. -
TMQ column Bills mention .... not kind to Buddy!
billsfan89 replied to merlin's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Dareus made the all rookie team and was highly regarded after a strong rookie campaign even in his sophomore slump he still looked like a more than capable NFL player and while the jury is still out on him I think he will be a quality player for this team. A.Williams that looks like a bad pick but he could still turn it around at safety and at the time was considered a very good pick (And Andy Dalton stinks an average QB is nothing to cry about missing out on). Troup looks like a bad pick as Terrence Cody and Gronk would likely have been better picks, even at the time it was thought of as poor value as many thought he could have been taken in the early 3rd or later 2nd. Sheppard was traded for Jerry Hughes which could look like a steal, and not drafting Martez Wilson over him is not a mistake because Wilson was regarded higher. BUT If Spiller stays healthy, Carrington turns out to be a stud, Moats proves to be at least a very good backup, Easley contributes, Dareus plays up to pro-bowl form, and A.Williams carves out a role on the defense Nix's first two drafts don't look too bad. -
Byrd signed tender [update: may still want to be traded]
billsfan89 replied to BRAWNDO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Hope they can hash out a long term deal, but its good to at least get him back with the team and in place on the new D. I doubt they put in a clause to not be able to tag him next year but I really wanted them to get this guy locked in long term. -
This year is make or break for that class, Can Spiller stay healthy, will Carrington make an impact, is Moats more than a backup, and what can Easley and Troup contribute? Lots of questions for that team.

LB Nigel Bradham Charged with Majijuana Possesion

Its 2013 and Marijuana is still illegal, this is not a comment on Nigel but rather a show of how stupid prohibition of Marijuana is. -
Looking at Kolb's passes vs Vikings
billsfan89 replied to br1ju's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All the hate on Kolb seems a little hasty. The guy got a minor injury that kept him out of the first pre-season game and missed camp time. The guy is learning a new system and he lost a lot of valuable time due to a minor stupid injury. That's not to say I like Kolb or think he should start but rather that I am going to judge him based on this upcoming game. The guy got some pre-season action and has been fully back in camp, lets see what this guy has come week 3. If he stinks it up week 3 then he sucks. -
Mike Rodak..ESPN BB blogger downplays BB defense
billsfan89 replied to Kemp2Warlick's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was right, its preseason and they were playing a team that had never seen or prepared for their defense. The Bills had the ultimate element of surprise and it worked. Not to say the Bills defense won't be effective but that you can't base it on how well it worked in this game. -
The Bills have some interesting storylines this year that would make for a good Hard Knocks. But its a moot point seeing as how they would likely never have gone if asked. The Bills are an interesting team in training camp for sure new coach, rookie QB, interesting rookies, Mario Williams non-story and a team looking to win for the first time in a long time. The Bills are at least interesting this year.

I would like to see how good Easley preforms against real competition not the Colts third string and scrubs. B.Smith has shown that he is a pretty capable offensive player. Smith also offers a good chance to run some gadget plays and Wildcat type formations. I think it might be hard to gut that versatile player until we see Easley really preform well under better conditions. Also even if Easley preforms lights out against better competition its still possible that they might want to keep Smith because they like versatility.
-
I could see this team carrying 7 receivers if Easley keeps up this type of production. It really wouldn't surprise me to see Brad Smith gone. But B.Smith could stay as I think they would like a veteran hand at WR who gives them a lot of trick play flexibility. Stevie Woods Graham Goodwin B.Smith Rodgers Easley It would be hard to say which one of those guys would be cut

Jeff Tuel ... was a steal!
billsfan89 replied to SPILLERmadeUmiss's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would like to see this kid against at the very least second stringers. I am not going to get excited about a guy playing against the third stringers and camp fodder of a low level NFL defense. For now its good that he looked good but lets not drum up the cut Kolb bandwagon for a guy beating up on low level competition. -
Bills named their price with this guy and they didn't want to go over that amount and it was good they did, I would say it panned out for the Bills but Anderson (the guy they paid out the money that theoretically would have been his) is no longer on the roster. The Bills ended up choosing between a giant douche and a turd sandwich.

We are being served up to the Colts and Skins

Its also pre-season so who cares how the games are scheduled. -
How much should EJ play against the Colts?
billsfan89 replied to BisonMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Should play the first half even beating up on scrubs and backups should give him a lot of confidence if not it will give him a lot to correct. I think they will definitely play him a full quarter but something tells me they will pull him early in the second. -
Donald Jones retires, cites Kidney disease
billsfan89 replied to boyst's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
D.Jones will always have a great moment in Bills history as he was instrumental in ending out losing streak against the Pats* a couple of years ago. He had 101 yards on 5 catches that game and he flashed potiental at times the past couple of years. I wish the guy all the best. D.Jones never struck me as a guy that could be a top 2 WR and his skills didn't translate that well to the slot. But I always thought his ceiling was a 4th WR that could make a big play here and there -
The Ravens' Model of Success: Bills Are Following It
billsfan89 replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Lets see exactly how this pans out on the field, a lot of teams are building with speed and a big armed QB. A lot of teams are going with blitzing defenses that can get a lot of pressure up front and confuse teams. Its just the nature of the game, but for once I am glad to see the Bills taking a modern approach.
