So I tune into Boston Sports radio...
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I doubt the players actually care. Most players don't listen to the media at all. What little they hear comes from their friends and family second hand. And I agree with you, the team has gotten off to hot starts before and its fallen apart. So I don't blame the media for not buying into the team. This team has a different feel to it (More complete team, much more depth, the way they are winning ect) but when you get burnt a whole bunch of times before you are always hesitant to believe. -
AP smoked "a little" weed before his court appearance
billsfan89 replied to ricojes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its only an older generation and misinformed people that are against it. Most people who have smoked or know the facts about the drug know its less dangerous than alcohol and the consequences of putting people in jail for it are severely negative. Throw in the success of the legalization of Colorado and Washington are only going to get more states to want to cash in it. By the 2020 elections I think a majority of states will have legal recreational weed. -
Also this is Spiller's last year under contract. You would be lucky to get a 5th round pick for him. The trade market for him is probably a 6th or 7th round selection. Now you might take a 6th to give Bryce Brown more playing time but if you are talking about trading Spiller just know your getting a late round pick.

Bellichik has let a lot of quality players walk and they have gone on to be productive with their new teams. The idea that the Pats* always dump players at the right time hasn't been true and its been even more glaring the past 6 years. Granted they have cut bait on some players at the right time (Randy Moss comes to mind) but they have let some guys go that have been productive elsewhere (Asante Samuel, Richard Seymour, Welker, adam vinatier, Damian Woody, ect).

Report: Katy Perry will play halftime at Super Bowl XLIX
billsfan89 replied to Saxum's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Eh its the Super Bowl Half Time show they are always going to go with a big current pop act or an established act from the past. -
AP smoked "a little" weed before his court appearance
billsfan89 replied to ricojes's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Prohibition of Pot is stupid and the fact that Peterson could have drank alcohol (Which does more harm to your body) and he would have been fine shows the terrible drug policy this country has. That being said if he knew about the drug test and he knew that pot would have triggered it he should have used better judgement and not done it (Not the best time to make a statement about the prohibition). -
I believe Whaley will trade for a guard
billsfan89 replied to Webster Guy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I doubt any team has an effective guard will trade them. Why would a team trade away one of their starting guards mid way into a season. Unless a team has a highly regarded backup that they might be willing to go, I don't see it happening. But that would be a good place to tweak the roster. -
jeff littmann is an actual person

I thought this board just made him up in order to pin the Bills problem on him. -
MMQB Deep Dive: Bills D vs. Pats* O
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If the run defense can hold up I think the Bills have a good chance. Brady doesn't have great weapons and the team seems to be able to handle tight ends. -
Please tell me why Kyle Orton is not the long term answer ?
billsfan89 replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Orton would only be able to win anything meaningful if he had a great team around him. The team would have to be so good to overcome mid-level QB play to win meaningful games in the playoffs. Hopefully he is good enough to win games and get this team to the playoffs. Next year the team could reassess EJ or draft a QB and develop him behind Orton. -
EJ and Spiller for Geno and a First Rounder
billsfan89 replied to rfk's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Jets wouldn't give up a third round pick for CJ and EJ. Geno and EJ is pretty much a wash and Spiller would be a one year rental not worth that much. Troll thread. -
[closed]Shop Spiller to Denver for Number 1
billsfan89 replied to realtruelove's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are aware Spiller is both a free agent and under preforming right? Why on Earth would the Broncos make that deal. At best you could maybe get a 4th which you might take but don't get crazy. -
Aren't you innocent until proven guilty? Why should a man not be allowed to go to work and do what he loves because there is an accusation against him? The way we are so quick to sell out others civil liberties just because they are inconvenient is stupid and caving to pressure from groups who only care to further their agendas. If this guy is proven guilty then he deserves the full penalty of the law and he should be given additional sever punishments by the NFL if he ever wants to continue his pro-career. But until the man gets convicted he should be allowed to resume his life. Anyone can accuse anyone of anything. Until you are proven guilty you are innocent. Yes it might mean the possibility of a guilty person playing in the NFL a few weeks longer, but do we really want to live in a society where accusations could cost a man valuable years of his career simply because its bad PR? As fans we should really care about the rights of the accused players when looking at a very nuanced issue and not just how things look for the league.

I think the defense has preformed OK to above average not sure if it would be better or worse under Pettine. Schwartz defense is a lot better against the run but its not that great at getting pressure on the QB and the secondary doesn't seem to be playing as well (Byrd not being there could also be a factor). Pettine's defenses were much more aggressive towards rushing the passer but they weren't as disciplined against the run, and it showed in how they got gashed in the run game a lot. Schwartz defense seems to rely on the front 4 holding their rush lanes and rushing the passer, but he doesn't blitz much and the secondary doesn't seem to be doing as well with less pressure on the QB. Overall I think the defenses accomplish different things (Pettine much better pass rush, Schwartz much better against the run), but their effectiveness isn't much better or worse.

A young QB didn't react well to pressure? EJ is still developing but any QB with a lot of pressure generally has a hard time.

Cyril Richardson needs to get a shot at RG
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The injury to Williams should give Richardson playing time at LG, which is a good thing. Not sure Richardson will be any good but we know Williams stink. Pears isn't very good but he seems to be a good veteran presence for Henderson. Might be a good thing to let Pears play there for a little while longer to help out Henderson. Maybe Urbik at RG would be better as he is still a pretty experienced guy. Eventually I think they could try Cyrus at RG towards the end of the season. -
It's possible Seattle is sick at home and just a good but not great team on the road? No doubt Seattle is a good team, but parts of their roster took a hit in free agency and even last year they had a lot of close games on the road. So take a team that maybe isn't as good as they were last year and put them on the road where they are more human against a team that has talent and it resulted in a close loss?

Worried about Dwight Freeney? What is this 2004?

Rookie WR stats after 2 games - Sammy in the lead
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its more impressive when you factor in who he has throwing to him and how much this team runs the ball. EJ is still a young developing QB who is playing a conservative game plan. A lot of those other recievers have more established QB's throwing to them. -
Power rankings thread- post them here
billsfan89 replied to mitchmurraydowntown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its for fun, no one really takes them seriously. Just fun to see what others think the perception of the team is. I don't honestly think people take them as anything else. -
It isn't just Kouandjio not starting....
billsfan89 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Second round picks are expected to come in and contribute right away. But not everyone develops at the same rate. Some guys need to adjust to being a pro. I think Cyrus is an example of a guy that isn't developing as quickly as expected but that doesn't mean he can't craft out a good career. I think if he got kicked inside to guard (Where the team could use him) he could develop into a dam good guard. With Henderson and Glenn as the tackles we seem to be set at tackle if Henderson keeps it up. But at guard we are a bit older and might be able to use an upgrade. -
I think whatever equity Jim would get sold as a pseudo ceremonial gesture would be a fraction of a percent. In the context of billions of dollars its hardly anything that would have serious finical consequences. For me I would like to see it happen something about Kelly having a direct link to the team however small and relatively meaningless is a good story.

Murph: "E.J. is not a game manager."
billsfan89 replied to Stads's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would say that EJ is being used is in a conservative game managing manner. But I don't think that's bad. The guy is a young QB with a good amount of talent around him. Ask for him to play in a context that helps him develop and the team win. Its a lot easier to ask the guy to be a conservative type player now and then slowly open up what he is doing later on in the season and his career, then to lean on him too much and collapse his confidence. -
2008 and 2011 have to damper your spirits somewhat. But those teams had a smoke and mirrors feel to them. This team feels a little different from those two teams. Seems like this team is deeper and more solid. But overall the past two failures after fast starts make you concerned. I basically won't be a believer until I see the little x next to their name in the standings that indicates they will be in the playoffs. One week at a time so to speak.
