  1. I will believe the Pats* are finished when I see it. That said both their starting corners and Wilfork are gone so on paper they are worse but you still have Tom Brady.
  2. Do you think this Bills defense is an All-Time great defense? I think it could be a really good best in the NFL defense but is it enough to carry the team through multiple playoff victories let alone playoffs? My best hope is the team fixes the O-line, adds some pieces to the offense (Like Clay), and finds an impact player in round 2 along with a mid-late round contributor. This team reminds me more of the 2009-10 Jets. Great defense, good running game, some pieces around a shaky QB. One can only hope the team continues to fix holes in free agency/the draft and EJ develops.
  3. The team isn't signing Revis and if they did the other signings wouldn't happen or only 1 other one would. I think the teams QB situation is obviously the Achilles heel. But your weakness is your weakness all you can do is build up the rest of the team. My ideal scenario would be to sign, Boiling, Clay, Harvin, and Wilfork. Granted I don't think Wilfork will sign and I don't think Harvin is necessary but would be nice. If you want to build a bully Wilfork would be a nice NT to have in the mix. Clay and Boiling fill holes on the offense (Harvin possibly adds another element). Then just go after the best talent in the draft.
  4. During the Donahue era the team was actually able to get free agents. Fletcher, Spikes, Sam Adams, Lawyer Milloy, even Troy Vincent (The issue was the less than stellar drafting, poor head coaches, and letting the teams own talent walk). Even before that Paup, Speilman, and Lofton were all big grabs. But it feels good to know that the Mario Williams deal wasn't some one off fluke that the team could really spend money if needed and isn't afraid to swing.
  5. I do think that the speed Harvin would bring along with his ability to run the ball out of different formations brings a good element to the offense. I wouldn't bring him in for any significant money but for a modest 3 million dollar a year offer it could add a lot to the offense. In the draft the team could find a big target.
  6. Harvin makes sense for Roman's offense. Very versatile and a vertical threat. Harvin, Clay, and a guard would round out the offense nicely. Could free up the draft pick to add depth to the defense.
  7. I have a feeling that Rex and the Bills are just trying to drive up the costs for Revis either the Pats* pony up more money or the Jets do. I think O-line and Clay would be more up Rex's alley.
  8. What the !@#$ are the Eagles doing? Edit: They got a second rounder which makes more sense. Maybe this is a sign they want to trade up.
  9. Very solid move if they don't over pay. Team needs a guard and he is one of the better ones out on the market.
  10. Solid move, if you want to run a power running offense you are going to need a beast full-back and that's exactly what Felton is. Its not going to be a earth shattering move but its a nice move that good teams do to have a more complete roster.
  11. In the NBA the contracts are guaranteed and the cap hit is the average of the contract years (So a 3 year 25 million dollar offer with 15 million in year 3 still counts against your cap as 8.3 million each year). I am not sure what the Bills could do to sabotage the Fins as if they don't match then the Bills could have a contract that doesn't fit with their cap plans.
  12. The Vikings ground game was inconsistent but decent at times last year as any fantasy player will tell you. That's to be expected with AP out, a bad O-line, and other injuries to the running back position. But I remember AP crediting Felton a lot after that 2000 yard season as being a huge factor in his success overall.
  13. I heard that the Colts might be making a run at him with a few other teams in the mix. Searcy is looking for starter money (4-5 million a year) with some guarantee. I am not sure the Bills could offer that kind of money given the needs on offense and the resigning of Hughes. I would love to see him return but in the age of the cap you can't keep everyone (Searcy was rated the 18th best safety according to the metrics and by the eye test that isn't too far off). I think a team is going to get a solid player at a reasonable price for Searcy.
  14. Wasn't Felton AP's lead blocker for his 2000 yard season? It would make sense that if this team is going to ground and pound that they have a big time fullback. It would be a nice small move for the offense.
  15. Thomas who had injury issues early on in his career is cashing in on a good contract and a big guarantee. The Jags had money to spend and they got a talented player.
  16. I think we can expect another signing of significance. Most likely on the offensive side of the ball. But McCoy and keeping Hughes were already pretty huge moves.
  17. Would make sense for Fitz to reunite with Chan. Jets need a veteran option at QB.
  18. Having a kickoff specialist seems like a dumb idea on the surface but having someone who can get touch backs consistently and save Carpenters leg (Something that he said helped him kick longer field goals as his leg was fresh) is a good thing and probably can provide more value than a position player that would have been player number 53.
  19. I don't think Revis will sign here. Its either a return to the Jets for a dump truck full of money or a deal with New England for a good but more reasonable contract (Probably 12ish million a year with a nice guarantee). I don't think the numbers align to sign Revis and extend Dareus and possibly Gilmore as well as make other moves this off-season.
  20. Rex has capable corners and will hope Gilmore will develop into a poor mans version of Revis. With Hughes, McCoy, Cassel, and Incognito in the fold I don't think Revis will fit under the cap even if you don't make any more significant signings in free agency. Revis will likely command 15+ million a year and while I think he is worth it the math just doesn't make sense and would leave a lot of holes on the offense (Even if you draft a guard in round 2) and hamper the depth of the defense.
  21. I would spend a nice chunk of change on a guard 5-7 million don't go super crazy like 8.5 for Iupati but getting a good starting caliber guard would round out the O-line as I think Kujo or Henderson would be capable to handle the RT position and we can draft a backup interior linemen in the third for depth and be a fall back if Incognito flames out. My other big move would be to go after Vince Wilfork maybe a deal in the 5-6 million range if that could get it done. If you want to build a bully having a very good NT with a mean streak will get that done. Imagine a front 5 of Hughes-Dareus-Wilfrok-Kyle-Mario that would be sick. If Wilfork is too pricey or doesn't want to come here then go after a tight end or a big redzone WR. A couple of minor moves would be to sign a MLB similar to the role Spikes had and try to resign Searcy (If his price tag is reasonable) depth along the defense is key. With a second round pick I would go after a Tight end or a WR adding more weapons to the offense is always a good idea. I think with Freddie (sadly), Urbik, and Williams all possible cuts does free up enough cap space to make these moves possible.
  22. I think your view of a need for a number 2 WR stems from your view of Wood's talent. If you don't think Woods is capable of handling that role than there really isn't a need there. But if you think Woods is more so a slot receiver and Hogan a spread WR/backup then adding a WR maybe necessary. I honestly think if the team can add a tight end who is a big target in the redzone then they will be fine just adding a capable slot receiver to compete with Hogan at the slot.
  23. I don't know why the Bills wouldn't at least bring Freddie into camp? The guy was productive last year and is very versatile, it would make sense to try and keep him for training camp to see exactly what he has left.
  24. A bit of an overpay but the guy is a huge part of the defense and young enough that he should be in the fold for the next few seasons. Love the move as it shows aggressiveness in competing now and its not a dramatic overpay. Also the type of deal proves that cash to cap is gone.
  25. The system for compensatory picks is messed up. Its logic of simply counting bodies without context doesn't make for a rational system. Losing a player like Byrd to a huge contract without signing a similar player salary wise should yield you a pick of some sort. I think they need to rework the system to factor in context of players signing.
