  1. I would love to see the Bills trade for the Panthers kicker, a good vet kicker whose on a bad team. I think if the Bills offered a 5th for a 7th the Panthers would strongly consider it.
  2. Kicker is a big glaring need but I don't see many teams trading a kicker. I would seriously call up the Panthers and ask about trading a pick for Eddy Pineiro. Outside of that I could see safety being a consideration. But I think McD likes what he has in the secondary. I think the best the Bills can do after meaningfully addressing WR1 is get a kicker, Bass is going to cost this team a game or two if not cost them in the playoffs.
  3. The Watson trade has to be the worst trade in NFL history. The Browns gave up 3 first round picks plus 3 additional picks in rounds 3-4 to get back Watson whose fully guaranteed contract has two more years on it. The Browns at best can get out of Watson's deal in 2026 by having him do a post June 1st release which would still leave his dead cap hit at 76 million while pushing 26.9 of dead cap into 2027.
  4. "Everyone eats" should still be the mentality. But now there's a guy out there in Cooper who has the appetite and ability to eat a lot efficiently. The acquisition of a boundary WR who can consistently break out against single man coverage allows the Bills to counter one high safety looks. Then if teams try to go two high to prevent big plays to Cooper and make Josh dink and dunk then the Bills can work the middle of the field brilliantly and run the ball which they are set up to do.
  5. A 3rd swapped for a 6th works for me, tossing in a future 7th is not that consequential given that the Bills likely are going to be consistently getting comp picks due to losing players in free agency as that happens to teams that consistently draft well and find players in free agency. Cooper also will possibly count towards a comp pick that could be in the 3-4 round range so the Bills can continue to recoup that capital down the line making the cost even more minimal. The Bills also picked a good year to sacrifice some capital to add a big piece as the Bills have a ton of picks in this up coming draft. They have their own 1st but also two 2nds and two 4th round picks with comp picks incoming including one projected to be an additional 4th rounder. That's in addition to once again having three 6th round picks and adding another comp pick in the 5th round by some projections. This trade really gives the Bills an amazing chance to contend this season and when you have a ton of draft capital using it to make a season truly viable is a great use of draft capital.
  6. I’m always going to defer to McD when it comes to the secondary. If McD thinks he can start then I think he’s doing fine. To my eye test he looks ok, very Levi Wallace esq where he just looks like a solid player out there but not a dynamic playmaker
  7. Great trade just fantastic to add a quality true WR1. Cooper is also 30 so while not young he’s someone who could be here for 1-2 additional seasons playing at a high level. Bills just need to get healthy on defense and this team could be cooking
  8. Refs having a lot of penalties is not the major issue. There are sloppy teams or performances that produce a lot of penalties. The issues were the bad calls. The Roughing the passer wasn't just a one off situation where hey one mistake can happen. The unnecessary roughness call on Spencer Brown and the personal foul against Dawkins were also bad calls. I also think the Jets had a bad call go against them too. 4-5 or more bad calls in a game is a sign the referees had a terrible game. There were a lot of penalties that were actually penalties. But when you get a lot of calls just flat wrong you have no excuse.
  9. I do wonder IF (and this is a big if) the Bills get Milano and everyone mostly back healthy what would the Bills if they want to look to add to the defense at the trade deadline? CB, seems like the starting trio of Douglas/Benford/Taron are very good while depth wise Ingram has shown to be good and I know Elam is persona non-gratta he's just been outshined by other players but he's there if depth is needed. At LB Benard and Williams are a solid combo and Milano coming back would solidify it. D-line you could always use a punch up but I think they are very solid there. Groot, Von (when he comes off suspension), and AJE are a very good trio while Smoot and Solomon are good depth. Safety seems to be before the season starts but I think the safety play has been solid. The defense certainly could carry the team much like KC's defense carried an offense that was a times suspect.
  10. Bills redzone defense has been very good and very clutch. A little soft here and there before the redzone but big plays and tight red zone defense are making up for that. And that's with a banged up defense so I would imagine getting some players back will help. I found it interesting when Billy B on the Manningcast mentioned that the Bills lack "team speed" on defense the past 4-5 years. I kind of understand it but I also found it odd. Because the Bills defense has (I thought) had some fast players. Hyde and Po early on were pretty fast guys, Tre was certainly a 8/9 out of 10 on speed, Milano is one of the best end to end LB's in the league, and I think Bernard and several other defenders are on the fast side of their positions. I also think the defense has been very "clutch" in al the close games the team which is an amazing sign. The only reason the Bills had a chance against the Texans was the two big turnovers the defense forced and how they buckled down in the second half for the most part. Against the Cardinals they had the stop on the final drive. And against the Jets Taron comes up with the INT to get the offense in position to ice the game. I think last year the defense felt very "un-clutch" like there were so many games where the defense was in position to ice a game but always let up a score. This year on many occasions the defense has come up with big plays and iced games out. Having a defense that can make big plays esp big plays in the clutch is something that can carry a team with a suspect offense at times much like KC.
  11. B.Allen's had some moments but Davis looks like a more complete back. I think because of Allen's physical tools people kind of think he's better but Davis is fundamentally sound on all levels all around good back. To make a baseball analogy Allen is like the pitcher that throws 99-101 consistently but doesn't always have great command and doesn't have too much else in his tool bag just yet. Whereas Davis is the pitcher who tops out around 94/95 but he has much better command and throws a good change up and breaking ball. I think Allen could if he develops his vision, hands, and feel for the game develop into a very good RB but he's not there yet. Whereas I think Davis skillset while it can be polished up seems more "pro-ready" and well rounded thus far.
  12. Despite losing Milano and being banged up (plus the Von suspension) the defense has looked good. Not great or elite but it has been a defense that can win games. If they get some guys back I think they will be good enough to win in the playoffs. The question is will the WR core hamper the offense against better defenses? Which I think 6 weeks in is a yes.
  13. Two division away games plus week one which is always uneasy and toss in a win against a bad Jags team and at 4-2 you have to like it. Fins are reeling due to the Tua injury and some other issues, and the Pats are the "one year away" team that we kind of thought they would be. The Jets are also reeling despite Rodgers being a decent QB which points to larger flaws. Overall the Bills are who we thought they were. They have a good defense that's a little banged up, they have a good offensive line and RB/TE squad with a great QB. However, they are a little lackluster at WR. Find a way to add some pop at WR and get healthy (esp on defense) and I think this team will have a chance to go far.
  14. I wouldn't hate it. If the Seahawks are willing to eat a lot of his current 18 million dollar hit then I think Lockett as a rental would be a solid add. He's 32 while older for a WR is still towards the end of an age where WR's still produce at a high level. He's been banged up but never really injured, he's been active for 16 or more games pretty much every year of his career. He's also been very productive even in recent season 2022 he had over 1k receiving yards and in 2023 while a bit of a down year he still had just under 900 yards and he's off to a fantastic start this season. If the Seahawks lose a few more games before the trade deadline it is possible they could take offers for Lockett.
  15. Even the best fall down sometimes. Josh had a bad game and even then the Bills were still in it. Hopefully the Bills can get Shakir back and get healthier overall while also having Brady adjust the gameplan.
  16. Ty Johnson and Ray Ray should be good enough to get it done if the offensive line plays well. Suck this team is banged up, hurting for a bye week early in the season stinks.
  17. I think teams have adjusted to how to play against WR's being "schemed" open and are daring WR's to make plays in tighter windows. This is just my eye test amateur take but it seems like teams are just saying hey we know the Bills WR's aren't very good outside of Shakir and maybe Keon so let's have them beat us so to speak. Joe Brady is going to have to adjust to the counters seen the past couple of weeks.
  18. The Bills were far more banged up, I think you are just being hyperbolic and reactionary to a tough loss. Every team deals with injuries but it is very apparent looking at who the Bills were missing on defense and the lack of Shakir on offense that the Bills were set back more talent wise than the Texans. Yet the Bills took the game down to the wire on the road. The Bills went into the season with a lack of talent at WR and a shaky kicker situation, everywhere else on the roster the Bills are solid or better. I do agree the Bills should have found a way to get more at WR but that's the price the Bills have paid to retool their roster longer term. In the end the Bills are who we thought they were a good team with a major flaw at WR and a few other okayish areas. This team should still win 10-11 games and win the division with the rest of the division being very lacklust. If the Bills can beat the Jets on Monday they will take a strong hold over the division early which is a good luxury for a team figuring things out.
  19. From 2005-2006 the Pats lost a lot of veteran free agents who were still performing well. Deion Branch, Ty Law, Willie McGinest, Adam Vinatieri, starting offensive linemen Joe Andruzzi and Tom Ashworth, Keith Traylor, Roman Phifer, and Troy Brown all left in the span of two off-seasons. The Pats always had years where they retooled their rosters and went through years where they cleaned house on vets and went with younger players and suffered growing pains.
  20. I thought the defense despite being banged up has only had one bad game (the Ravens). The defense got punched in the mouth against the Cardinals but only gave up 22 points (6 of those 28 points given up on special teams) and only gave up a field goal and a 2pt conversion in the second half. The defense was lights out against the Jags and Fins. Against the Texans the defense only gave up 23 points and 3 of those were given up on a short field on a very long field goal. In fact the only reason the team had a chance was the two turnovers forced by the defense in the second half. Considering how banged up the defense is I think the defense isn't performing all that poorly. Of course this is all week to week and subject to change but the returns on the first five games have been above average.
  21. This team was down 4 of its top 6-7 defensive players (Ed, Von, Milano, and Taron) plus another starter and role player (Rapp and Austin Johnson) and the team was also down its top WR in a WR core that is lacking, and they still played a close game away against a good team. Overall the loss is not that big of a deal, if the Bills can win against the Jets they are fine they will be in a great position to win the division sitting at 4-2 with a tough part of their schedule out of the way. People have to stop being so hyperbolic when it comes to each game. This team is who we thought they were a good team with a flawed WR core and some young pieces here and there that might have some growing pains.
  22. Are you saying this message board is filled with hyperbolic reactionary takes week to week?
  23. Beane is a top 5 GM in the league. The Bills from 2017-2023 have been one of the most successful teams in the league. They have 6 playoff appearances in 7 seasons with 4 straight division titles and 5 playoff victories. Let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater and have a hyperbolic reaction to recent losses.
  24. Checking out prime vision hoping its as good as many have been saying.
  25. Going to be a cop out answer but I think you are going to have to see how the next month plays out (trade deadline is Nov 5). The Bills pass catching core looked great against the Cards, Fins, and Jags. But against the Ravens the entire offense was not able to get in a groove and only put up 10 points. Problem is that the Bills don't play too many good defenses from now until the trade deadline. The Jets and maybe Texans are the best defenses the Bills will face until the trade deadline. The Fins, Titans, and Seahawks are the other defense this team plays and they range from mediocre to average. If the Bills offense continues to hum then I think you may likely look into adding a defensive piece or special teams piece. But if there's consistent struggles then you gotta look into adding something at WR. You may or may not need a true "stud WR1" but you may need some speed or something else there that the current core is missing.
