  1. different sociological factors. did you just read what i said... more open society, different tax structure, different history, different geography, different resources, cost of living, different education, more ethnic diversity and adaptability to different economic stress, better regulated debt, etc etc detroit is basically solely dependent on one thing, the auto industry and is one of the most racist areas in the !@#$ing world.... why is detroit so corrupt, and why does everyone steal in detroit but not springfield wherever? is it because they are black? in fact, why are poor areas generally full of more crime?
  2. The bush tax cuts, wars in iraq and afghanistan, drug program not paid for, and lack of regulation on cdos created almost all the debt. the depression caused a great amount in debt. bush and obama are both responsible. to what degree is up for debate. but thats why we have a huge debt... http://www.cbpp.org/cms/?fa=view&id=3036
  3. Because they could make huge profits. for example- many of the bad loans were sold as cdos to other firms, and the more they sold these cdos, the more profit they made. they were given perfect triple a scores. in fact, the riskier the loan and the more they sold, the richer they got. and then they got even richer knowing they would fail by betting against them with insurance companies, like aig for example. and guess what? many of these **** cdos were sold to pension funds, and vacation funding. so your proverbial question is did the govt cause this? well yeah, they looked the other way because of lobbying and cut regulation which would have stopped much of this risky consolidation of bad debt along with selling it. same with the bs credit scores. people like bush even wanted these loans to happen, not to help poor people, of course they said that, but it was to help their wall st criminals... they knew it would fail, and the govt would be left with the tab. ie taxpayer... if they really wanted to help poor people, they would know extreme debt is not the way to do this but rather providing full employment, and providing higher education like the rest of the developed world.
  4. this is one of the more idiotic statements ive seen on this board. there are a myriad of different sociological factors on why certain areas have/dont have success... racism is a major sociological factor in michigan. its one of the most segregated states in the U.S. trade policy for the past 40 years involving the auto industry is another...
  5. so since we champion markets, and we all know some people do better than others in markets, if youre poor, no vacation for you. oh god, six weeks... the govt has the power to tax. if people want vacation, then we can vote for reps with this idea.
  6. troy aikman is probably the greatest example of how you can still be a great team with a game manager at qb. imo, fitz is better than aikman.
  7. they will rule the mandate unconstitutional and hold up the rest of the bill...
  8. because people will be happier, more productive. i mean, yeah we have weekends off, for some people i think. i dont. my dad doesnt. in fact most people i talk to now only get sunday off, thats about it. i think you would be paying me so i dont get too stressed... jmo... is it really that unreasonable to ask for 2 , 2 week vacations a year? once during the summer, another during winter/holidays? or whenever really? hell, what about just one 2 week vacation? again, economics is not simply a bottom line thing, there is philosophy and political stability involved. would you feel bad if the govt funded it? is this really the end of capitalism? really?
  9. i got 12 days right after boot camp. the U.S. doesnt even require one day paid vacation for the private sector....
  10. is asking for around 30 days vacation out of 365 really asking that much??? is this really what we should focus on? is this really the problem?
  11. wow vacation caused the economic crisis? really? i thought it was the banks... oh well... you are looking in the wrong direction man...
  12. stroud was aquired through a trade. he gave us two really good years. really good player in his prime. hope he does well!
  13. im not trying to be mean man, but you seem really erratic/weird in your posts. i think you should read the post again... seriously man, are you ok?
  14. the very fact that people would blame poor people on this board and shame them for being poor is borderline sociopathic/sadistic...
  15. e.g. 1- detroit is a food desert. this is a serious contributor to people being overweight in detroit. detroit aslo has the highest amount of dialysis clinics per capita in the country. 2- many people decide to sell drugs, realizing the alternative is being poor or homeless... 3- ooohhhhh those poor people with smart phones and nice clothes. they are soooooo evil. ( wall st crisis of 08 caused it) 4- i find it very odd you want to blame poor people, and ignore what big finance did... its literally like blaming a teenager for stealing a bike or candybar when ted bundy just murdered your whole family... really?
  16. you do realize corporate welfare significantly outnumbers welfare for poor people, many of which are poor through no fault of their own... unreal... why do you want to blame poor people? you have a fed that gives out free money and real wages for normal income hasnt gone up in 40 years. the delusion is unreal. the left has been asking for a work program for the unemployed for decades. why wont it get done to create full employment???
  17. are you on any medication? govt spending during a depression and govt spending during a normal business cycle is different.
  18. the idea that one can simply become self sufficient is pretty simple minded. i mean i guess you could live off the grid, but thats not realistic. we live in a market where some benefit more than others. i think most rational people would agree with that. so obviously when a person is old, and they paid into ss/medicare, 1- its not an entitlement, they actually deserve what they paid for. 2- some people are out of work for whatever reason, sick , recession, market forces, old age, disabled, w/e... should we just let them die?
