After today, Bills one step closer to shopping Evans
Billy in 4C replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not true. We would get a compensation pick. For a tier 1/2 type of guy that's a 3rd/4th rounder. Keeping him at 4 mil per year then getting a 3rd/4th rounder is what I would prefer than not having him and getting a 2nd/3rd at best. -
Leodis seriously needs an interpreter. I understood about 5 words in his post-game conference.

Is D.Bell the LT of the future?
Billy in 4C replied to billsfan89's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Right now D. Bell is an average LT, with the potential to be above average with experience/getting healthy. It's going to be up to Nix/Gailey to determine if they can win with an average/above average tackle or if they need an elite player at that position. I've seen successful teams build both ways. -
Spiller's Future in Buffalo
Billy in 4C replied to NaPolian8693's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Read Buffalo Rumblings. They have every run and pass blocking grade on every play of the season. Or just watch the games. It's pretty clear that Spiller gets hit in the backfield on a ridiculous amount of plays. Last week we had our 4th string RT, 4th string center, 3rd string RG and 3rd string LG. I don't believe Levitre ever played center before in his entire college or NFL career. Even despite that, Spiller averaged 5 ypc against the NFL's 4th best rush defense. What are you looking for exactly? -
Spiller's Future in Buffalo
Billy in 4C replied to NaPolian8693's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Guys, we are 2-10. Our 2 wins are against two of the bottom 3 teams in the league. Our line sucks/is in shambles. Be patient. -
I feel bad for Coleman - the kid is an undrafted player who played hard for us. On his first NFL start he gets IR'd on the first series... I hope we see him again.
-
He's by far the most frustrating guy to watch on the Bills. He can look like the best and worst player on the field literally minutes apart. Have you ever heard him talk? I just wonder if he is all athletic talent no brains.

Try again. Pittsburgh was in buffalo. Chicago was a home game in toronto.

Why does Chan never run the ball in OT
Billy in 4C replied to mike6683's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
8 passes and 1 run is unacceptable in OT. That's WHEN you run, when the other defense is exhausted. I'm getting sick of punting the ball at the 40 yard line because we can't pick up 6 yards in 2 downs. Yeah, Stevie dropped the pass, but we shouldve won the game multiple times besides that. Give me all the "Steelers run defense...blah blah" argument you want, but Freddy was averaging 5ypg, so we were pretty effective. Run your best 2 running plays, get the 6-7 yards and take a shot at the 50 yard field goal. The way he was running the ball you might pick up more or the 1st down. This is now the 3rd OT we've blown by only passing the ball. Very valid point by the original poster and should be the focal point of conversation on this game, not the Stevie drop. -
The kid looks legit. I've seen him play a couple times including last night. His mechanics are off - I'm not sure if its because of his size or what but he doesn't throw like a 6'6" guy. I know he's a pitcher and has a similar follow through. They say he's done with baseball so I wouldn't get hung up on that. With his back against the wall against one of the best defenses in the country he took command and led his team down the field multiple times in the biggest game of his career. Pretty impressive. He is very mobile too. Definitely a top 5 QB prospect.

Merriman will follow the money - which will not be buffalo. I've seen posts about this 1.7 mil being the "bonus" that we are giving Merriman to sign with us next year and similar theories which are garbage. Our front office made another mistake in player evalutation, period. Merriman has serious (beyond football) issues. He is done.

Think Chan can handle Vince Young?
Billy in 4C replied to Haven Moses's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Okay first, VY isn't a free agent. He has one more year left on his deal. Second, the owner says he isn't trading him. Third, if they do decide to trade him, you're not giving up picks for a 3rd string QB. Finally, if they cut him, he isn't going to a bad football team to be a 3rd string QB. He's coming off his best statistical season and is 30-17 as a starter. As much as I think VY could be a good QB in the league in the right situation, it's not happening in Buffalo... -
Do you watch football? The guy makes guys miss. That would be my definition of elusive. Combine tape is below - 4.28. "Consensus best athelte" - that was said by dozens of experts. The same dozens of experts that predicted the Bills win 2-4 games when everyone on this board called them idiots and we would win 7-9 games. When I'm talking about an athelte, it is someone who can transcend the football field in addition to dominating on it. Spiller could play many sports on high levels. He can also play RB, PR, KR and WR. Guys like Carl Crawford, Joe Mauer, Frank Thomas, Jim Brown, Bo Jackson.. keep going. Spiller is one of the best track and field atheltes in the country. I don't know any other guys on the team like that (maybe McKelvin). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mnDxSd-DGzU

Dude, stop. Spiller was the consensus best athelete in the draft. He's also the fastest player on the team (ran a 4.28 at the combine. Chris Johnson was 4.24). Not only that, he's the most elusive besides maybe Roscoe. The punt return he had on the play he got hurt was nasty. The kickoff return TD was unbelieveable. How about the TD he had in the preseason against the Colts? He looked like Barry Sanders. He has the skills and is NOT Heyward-Bey or Russell or whoever else you want to compare him to on the Raiders. I don't know what to say man - just wait. Agree to disagree. IMO he's explosive and will have a great career.
-
For all the spiller haters... He is the best athelete on the team. Get him a solid RT and TE and he will be able to bust it outside. He is not an inside runner. Get him the ball in space - which we clearly can't figure out how to do. Until they find a way to do this or give him touches in the slot, he's going to be an average RB. When was the last time we ran an effective screen? Spiller was the #1 rated athelete coming out of highschool, he's was the #1 athelete coming out of college. He will get there. Outperformed by Lynch/Jackson? First, they are both pro-bowl caliber players, so expecting a rookie to immediately outplay them would be foolish. Second, their #s aren't that much different. Spiller (4.0 yards per rush, 4.7 per pass) Lynch (3.5 per rush, 6.8 per pass.) Jackson (4.4 per rush, 3.7 per pass)

Think Chan can handle Vince Young?
Billy in 4C replied to Haven Moses's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
VY is the exact opposite of Fitz in terms of smarts, leadership, desire, physical ability. But as much as everyone wants to rip VY, he has shredded us everytime we play him and was having a decent year. 5th in QB rating. The guy finds a way to win. Someone who takes this chance could be very rewarded if he is put in the right setting (which I don't think is buffalo). McNabb gets 5 year extension, $40M guaranteed
Billy in 4C replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Big McNabb fan but what were they thinking?? At this point he can be effective for 1-2 more years with a good line and weapons (which he doesn't have). -
For anyone Watching the MNF game
Billy in 4C replied to Homey D. Clown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He just gave us like 40 seconds out of the 3 minute drill. Love chris berman - he gives the Bills a national (positive) voice when nobody else does. -
Could Mike Vick be the NFLs MVP
Billy in 4C replied to sleaky72's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you don't think Vick is the MVP you clearly are not watching the games. Going into the game he leads the NFL in passer rating and rushing yards for a QB. Oh, and he only has 5 TDs at halftime... -
Scared That Bills Take Ponder With First Pick

Gailey's final message to Maybin
Billy in 4C replied to gobills28's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Kelsay actually had a good game against Baltimore - dude made plays at key moments going against Oher. He looked terrible at 3-4 OLB trying to run downfield and cover TEs, Flankers and RBs, but since we moved back to 4-3, he has been solid. -
Gailey's final message to Maybin
Billy in 4C replied to gobills28's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Specifically, he is poor in coverage (so is Kelsey), does not play the run well (Kelsey does, shows us how much we miss Shoebel) and has only a few moves to get around LTs which they aren't falling for. All they need to do is watch game tape of him for 5 minutes to shut him down. He also is out of position and doesn't know where to be on the football field - either he just hasn't played enough football or isn't smart enough to figure it out. -
Just go away dude. We're going to be a top 3 pick anyways and the other teams aren't taking a QB. You're clearly not a fan if you liked Nelson fumbling in OT and want the Bills to lose.
