Poll on whether Fitz is the right guy or not
Billy in 4C replied to The Cincinnati Kid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Guys the question isn't make the playoffs or win a few playoff games. The question is can he either win the division & playoff bye then win 3 playoff games in a row or win 4 straight playoff games. IMO he is too inconsistent. With a good defense and a better team he can win games against playoff teams, no doubt. But he can't win 4 straight. I like Fitz, but he would need to be surrounded by A LOT - even then, it's not happening. -
He's chillin

I'm Gaining Interest in Blaine Gabbert

Exactly why I ignore 90% of the posters - they don't actually watch and know what they comment about. Congratulations - you fall into the majority. -

That's where he's from my man. Recruited by every major program - decided to stay at home. I can respect that. Look - you can find people on both sides of every debate. All I'm saying is I've watched him live first hand a ton of times and was overall impressed with what I would believe to be a top NFL skill set. I respect other experts opinions and take that into consideration, but otherwise make my own opinion. I think the kid can play. -

Some people follow college football, some don't. You clearly don't otherwise you would have known who he was. Gabbert was one of the top recruits coming out of High School. Missouri just wasn't that good. It was a writer's opinion at CBS that he can't read defenses. In my opinion, I thought he did a pretty good job of looking off LBs and DBs to create a lane to throw. He did not have to make multiple NFL reads - but virtually no college QBs do, especially Newton. There's no doubt there is a learning curve, but I personally think he's the best out there. -

You are bashing Gabbert pretty good off things you "heard". I've watched the guy plan a ton of times and he's legit. He's got the arm, mobility, athleticism. He was recruited to a pro-style offense and they recently converted to the spread, so yeah he's played in the pro offense. One of his best skills is actually reading defenses down the field and hitting guys on deep comebacks or out routes, one of the most difficult things to do as a QB. He can run, but yeah, at this point a blitz rush right up the middle cripples him. He can take a hit and is a tough kid, but you would need to build a solid line in front of him for him to be effective. He's not Drew Bledsoe, but he's also not Michael Vick. All I'm saying is before you bash the guy actually watch him play. He might suprise you. -
Nix Doesnt believe it trading down
Billy in 4C replied to Thoner7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You guys aren't paying attention. Last year Nix said that he does not know how to trade down, so he does not do it. It's not his unwillingness to move, it is his lack of understanding of the process that deters him from making a decision outside of his expertise. I'm not sure what is worse - I would suggest that it is the latter and not the former. -
Wake up!!! Everyone keeps saying this but it's not like we have 18 home games. The purpose is to make one of the preseason games a regular season game. Right now, we have 1 preseason game home, 7 home games in Buffalo. Toronto gets 1 preseason game and 1 home game. If this happens, Toronto doesn't get any more home games (they still get 2), but now the city of Buffalo gets locked into the preseason game each year, NOT Toronto. They pick up a regular season home game, and Buffalo doesn't. This is a big deal. We have to pay $75/ticket for a preseason game. They get the regular season game at the same price as the preseason game they had before. As far as I'm concerned, unless we get good at winning in Toronto, we are playing 7 home games, 11 road games. That doesn't sound like the recipe to get in the playoffs, and is AS important if not MORE important than whatever FA/draft picks we sign.
-
Assuming we don't sign Florence, Whitner and Poz.. Short term - ILB, S, RT, DE, CB, TE, OLB, DT Long term - QB, ILB, DT, DE, LT, RT, S, TE, CB, WR Barring an unbelievable draft and free agency period, we will pick in the top 5 again next year. We have the 2nd hardest SOS and again will most likely be a net loser in FA.

Reasons to Not Pick a QB in Next Draft
Billy in 4C replied to box0life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Gabbert is the 1st QB off the board, not Mallett, Locker or Newton. If we don't take him at #3, we take whoever drops in round 2 including Ponder, who I believe will be the pick if it's not Gabbert. QB is a major area of need, along with just about everything else. If the future of the franchise is there, you take him. I don't care about position. We need everything. Fitz is a slightly below average QB. That doesn't cut it anymore for playoff teams. The early 2000's Ravens and Bucaneers models are done. -
Von Miller's potential in the NFL
Billy in 4C replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's on the list because he's the best pash rushing OLB in the draft. The kid can fly to the ball and he can stick the QB and RB. Plays much bigger than he looks. IMO he is a situational player right now because he still is too small to be an everydown NFL player and seems to use the same swim/speed move. Not worth the #3 pick, but has a ton of potential. -
We'll Be Drafting Our Franchise QB This Year
Billy in 4C replied to Bangarang's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. I said this a few months ago. It's happening. -
Fairley was nasty. He destroyed. That 15 yard penalty and constant jawing at the oregon players worries me that he might be hanesworth but this kid can play. No on Newton. He's not ready. Missed wide open guys. Poor decisions under pressure. All their yards came on the ground. He shows flashes, but that's not enough unless you can sit him for 2 years
-
No. VY is Bizaro Fitz. Fitz is smart, is a leader, dedicated, gritty, a teammate, average athletic ability, a loser, choker in big games. VY has elite athletic ability, not smart, not a good teamate, not dedicated, a scrambler by athletic ability, not by toughness, a winner, clutch in big games. VY is not a good backup. Fitz is. You either believe VY can be an elite starting QB or you don't. That's the only way you bring him in - to start.
-
Exactly. Not a 3rd rounder, not a 2nd rounder we trade back into the 1st round to get. Not a scrubbini journeyman. Get a legit top of the 1st rounder. If Luck isn't there, look at Gabbert. If he's not the guy, wait until next year, when we will undoubtedly suck again and be in the top 5.
-
Agreed. Watched him choke too many big games at the end. You knew it was over when the guy for Arkansas didn't run the fumble in. To his credit, the Arkansas receivers KILLED him last night with the drops. The guy has talent, but he's not ready for the NFL yet. He needs to sit on a good team's bench like Aaron Rodgers and learn. He's not a good fit for the Bills. 2nd-3rd round is where he should go.

We're drafting a DB in first 2 rounds
Billy in 4C replied to Billy in 4C's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I said we'd take Spiller, check my history. The Bills are actually pretty easy to read with some consistency. Look at some of the recent picks with teams rebuilding. KC and CLE took a DB in the first few picks, hoping they would be Palamalou/Reed and so far so good. "Can't miss" DBs at the top of the draft typically are "can't miss". -
We're drafting a DB in first 2 rounds
Billy in 4C replied to Billy in 4C's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
John Clayton just wrote an article about it. I don't have the link. I'm not saying this is the way I WANT the bills to go, but I do think it is the way we are going to address it. There is no top OL talent like last year in the first 5 picks, Luck won't be there. It will either be a DE/OLB or Peterson/Prince at CB. If they feel either of those guys can be shutdown, that's going to be the first pick. Think about all the garbage sacks we got off coverage. Now add a shutdown corner - that makes the whole D-line better. Plus statistically it is a much safer pick that high than a DL. -
Whitner and Wilson are gone. McGee keeps getting injured and might be done. McKelvin is too inconsistent to be anything close to shut-down. Scott and Florence's contract are coming up. Defenses are now being built from the secondary - up. Get ready, it's happening.
-
Can we finally move on? Zero offensive points. No ability to move the ball. Can't read defenses. Panics when pressured. Inaccurate.

Edwards to start for Jags this week!!
Billy in 4C replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We will trade our 2nd round pick back for him, ala Rob Johnson after his one big game. Go get em Nix. -
I'm with you most of the way. IF and it is a big IF they can build a line for the guy, he could be Ryan/Brady and just pick defenses apart. He was dropping in balls on the opposite side of the field 25-30 yards downfield through tiny windows. He has an accurate gun - one that would work in western NY.
-
This kid has a cannon. He looks confident and is accurate downfield. I've noticed that he isn't very elusive and if there isn't max protect he tends to get skiddish. Missou plays strictly out of a spread shotgun, so there would be a transition period, but his ceiling is very high based off his measurables and arm. Last night he put up 434 yards passing versus a good Iowa defense. 1 passing TD, 1 rushing TD with 2 INTS. 1 of those INTS should have been a TD as it hit the WR between the numbers, bounced out of his hands and was picked off. He very well could be the second QB off the board. He's like Locker with a better more accurate arm.

Mock Draft with Bills Picking #3 & #9
Billy in 4C replied to 1B4IDie's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Interesting how not one of those mock drafts posted show us taking a QB -
Donte has sucked every year until this year when he was in a contract year. Clearly money is his motivation - let him walk. He won't be any good after he signs a big deal. Someone will pay him what he's asking and it won't be the Bills.
