Who is everyones surprise cut?
Billy in 4C replied to billsfan_34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
3 of 4 regulars from 2010 cut: Bryan Scott Reggie Corner David Nelson Geoff Hangartner -
Disagree. Youngmack is right on this one. If Fitz goes down, we have no shot at winning with Thigpen. He looks awful. Your theory about backup quarterbacks is flawed. Look at how Fitz became the starter. He was brought in as a #2 and given a shot when Edwards sucked. He is now our starter. Unless you are a 1st round pick and handed the keys, that is generally how #2s become #1s. Especially on teams like the Bills.

Supplemental draft via email at 1 p.m. today
Billy in 4C replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That means Trent Edwards probably gets cut. He's been their #3 -
I can't see him getting cut, but maybe traded like Lee Evans. I don't WANT to lose him, but I've also mentioned this as a possiblity. The Bills drafted Williams thinking Florence was gone. Reggie Corner has been the Nickel back the last few years. Basically, youv'e got Florence, Williams and McLovin, with two on the field at a time and one for depth. It sounds like they like this Rodgers kid too, which they might settle for a 5th spot. By the way - when did Jon Corto get moved to Free Safety?? They were pairing him with Bryan Scott.

Operating out of a position of weakness... exactly what we have come to expect. At least we locked up a top 3 pick again. Didn't we just give this guy a $1.5 million bonus two weeks ago? NOW we dump his $2-3 million salary? What a joke. I'm sure that late 4th pick we get will make a big impact...

Vegas set Bills at 5.5 wins for over/under
Billy in 4C replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope you are right and I am wrong. IMO we picked up type "C" free agents and lost type "B". Whitner is gone. Defense is weaker, special teams isn't as special as it used to be and our offense is average at best. Put us in the same division as NE and NYJ and match us against the NFC East and that's where I come up with 3-5 wins. -

3-5 wins. Under. Net loss of Poz, Whitner, Stroud. Rookies/2nd year players have little impact this year. Fitz shows that he is a slightly below average QB, as expected. Top 3 pick. -
I'm still trying to figure out how they are going to use this guy. Thoughts?? Wildcat? Special teams? Seems like this takes the ball out of Spiller's hands. They are saying WR, but who does he jump ahead? Not Evans, Stevie or Roscoe. Maybe not even Nelson or Easley.

Bills sitting on their hands in Free Agency!!!!
Billy in 4C replied to Rob T from OP's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No matter what they do in FA, the Bills still don't have a chance at the playoffs this year. I think they are waiting for their opportunity to strike and this isn't the year with NE and NYJ in their way. Another 3-5 win season, stock up more cheap top talent. Build the foundation. 2 more solid drafts then load up on FA when you have momentum. -
It Looks To Me As If Mr. Wilson.....
Billy in 4C replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I bought pre-season tickets last year to watch Spiller. I won't do it this year to watch Dareus. Nothing against Dareus... just sayin. Plus I know of other casual fans that did the same. -
Yankees owner dies, the team goes on in NY
Billy in 4C replied to Scrappy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You are actually wrong on both points. First, it had nothing to do with the Bush tax cuts. The bush cuts were extended by Obama, and had nothing to do with the estate taxes - those were just simply not addressed in time by the legislature. Estate taxes are determined many years in advance unless the legislature changes them. Second, he paid zero FEDERAL ESTATE taxes, but his family still would have paid STATE estate taxes on gains above $1,000,000 and federal and state income tax. That's still a lot of money. -
I think Donte Whitner is on his period

2008 Bills Draft- grade me now.
Billy in 4C replied to buffan4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's better than a C-. We got 2 starters, plus 2 regular players (Corner and McLovin). That's about league average. This class get DESTROYED with freak injuries. -
Who would you have picked? Post draft mock
Billy in 4C replied to Koufax's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree. I would have also liked Tyrod Taylor in the 6th - Gailey might have been able to make it work. Better shot than most 6th rounders. If not, make him a WR/KR. -
Florence said after the season he was long gone. Ayodele was on the trash heap - won't be brought back unless all other options are exhausted.

Any chance they look at Gabbert at #3? Or are they sold on the 4 you mentioned.

Gosselin has Bills passing on Von Miller
Billy in 4C replied to Wiz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wrong - Miller won't be there to be able to pass on. Denver is taking him at #2. -
Who is Blaine Gabbert anyway?
Billy in 4C replied to BeastMode54's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I would argue the 450 yards in the Iowa game was a lot of the spread offense scheme, which opens up guys close to the line of scrimmage. He had a few shots down the field in tight spots and hit them. I was pretty impressed. One interception hit his own guy right between the numbers in the endzone, was dropped and picked off. The other was a bad decision. I commented after the game that if you give him protection, I think he can make the big throws. If you draft him, he sits for one year and could pay off big in year 2-3. Not a day one starter. I'd say he looks like a mobile version of Drew Bledsoe, minus one notch on the arm and a little more raw. -

Not being sarcastic, but have you watched him play? Besides youtube clips.. -
Poll on whether Fitz is the right guy or not
Billy in 4C replied to The Cincinnati Kid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Would the Steelers or GB have won the superbowl with Fitz at QB? I doubt it. I also doubt the Steelers would have been in the Super Bowl without Big Ben. Getting into the playoffs and winning the SB are very different things - the question was about winning the championship. -
Just to be clear - is it the NFL that is deciding to move the best game to Toronto every year? Is there any imput from the Bills or Toronto?

Poll on whether Fitz is the right guy or not
Billy in 4C replied to The Cincinnati Kid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. I like Fitz but the Packers don't win the SB with him - even with their great defense and balanced offense. In today's NFL you don't win the superbowl with an average QB. He gives you the ability to win on "any given sunday", but not 3-4 games in a row against Manning, Brady, Rivers, Big Ben, etc. -

Billy in 4C replied to The Cincinnati Kid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agree with your statements that the whole team needs to improve/draft better, etc. But that doesn't answer the intention of the original post - which is, can Fitz win a championship? Assume he has a solid team around him - can he win the super bowl? In my opinion, I would say no. In end of the game situations where he was required to put the team on his back he didn't do it more than he did. Needing to win 3-4 games in a row against great teams I don't think he can do it. You are going to have to get a QB round 1 in either this draft or next. And don't say QB is equally as important as a LB or TE, etc. because it's not.
