Canadian OT on Bills radar
VanCity replied to DanInSouthBuffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is a great list....only made such by the inclusion of Peter North. That's hilarious. -

The nail was hit squarely on the head right here. Well put. -
Now the Pats Have Added Brandon Browner
VanCity replied to BenchBledsoe's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe you are thinking about one of his running mates in the Hawks backfield. Browner was good because he was able to rely on WR's fears to run inside routes with Seatlle's top tier Safety duo. However, he was called for way too many holding penalties and the Hawks have since found him very replaceable. Nothing to make us too fearful -
Bills Free Agents Updates

I vote 100% for this. As a Hawks fan (second to the Bills, of course), I have had the opportunity to watch Clemons during his time in Seattle. He would bring excellent depth and is, reputedly, a great character player. If he had to go somewhere, I'd be happy to see it as the Bills. -
Jairus Byrd [was Jarius Byrd]

Actually, i think you are correct. Just looking into that. -

Did I mis-read, or does that contract not kick in until 15-16? I may be wrong, but clarification is appreciated. -
2014 NFL UFA Visits, Signings, and Re-signings

Was hoping to see Moats back, but following Pettine won't hurt him. Great community guy and solid depth. -
5 Years ago, T.O. signs with the Bills...his tweet!
VanCity replied to Buftex's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was finishing a 4 day ski tour in the middle of Vancouver Island, got in my buddies truck, half dead, and turned on Sirius to hear the news breaking. I was actually rather excited that day. it seemed like a bit of a break from the recent history of the Bills, whereas they weren't getting any decent FA's and especially FA's with any sort of flash to their game. -
Bills Free Agents Updates
VanCity replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Golden Tate is sure handed, but redundant with the current crop of WR's on the Bills. The team has its share of 2nd tier WR's and speedsters. The need is for a big WR. A red zone threat. Also, no interest at all in Edelman. Bob is not a real source. -
Chas Rhinegold Fan Club Meeting Announcement

On a serious note, I would welcome the man back with open arms.....maybe Open Arms by Journey would be my call for theme song, though Whitney cannot be removed from the conversation. -
Is this how the new era under Brandon going to go?
VanCity replied to Kellyto83TD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't drink the Kool Aid from Pessimists or Homers, but have to believe that Whaley explored all options with Byrd. Who here really knows what is happening behind close doors? There are a lot of angles that nobody on this baord can claim to understand. The Bills wanted Jairus, Jairus has the right to want to move on. The tag wasn't applied. Let's move on to players that want to play for the Bills. Maybe Delmas? -
Change for the sake of change. The last Bucs uniform was actually pretty decent. The numbers on this one are ridiculous and the creamsicle accents add nothing to it aside from re-ope ing some retro marketing opps
-
Red Bryant would be far preferable to Rice. I live in the PNW and have watched every Hawks game for the past 8 years.Red Bryant is a mountain and would make the bills DL ridiculous (Dareus, Bryant, Williams and Williams...ouch!). But, I bet he re-structures anyways.

D'Qwell Jackson (LB) Released by Browns
VanCity replied to thebandit27's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I guess he doesn't fill what Pettine wants in his scheme there, but this seems to be a no-brainer for the Bills. Also, if he lived in Cleveland for that long, he could definitely be just fine with living in Buffalo. He may have his pick of the litter as he is a strong player that any number of teams should pursue. Fingers are crossed -
Well, that was inevitable really. Unproductive over-paid vets have little place in the current NFL. Jabari was a solid, if unspectacular, player pre-injury, but the rest may be training camp fodder for someone. Vilma was very good from 07-11, but three straight years of poor performance have him headed for the glue factory of NFL retirement. Also, who would really want anyone off the Saints D from 2012-13? That D was horrific!

Though this may be true, the Giants or Jets would probably be higher up the list. NYC has a far, far larger gay populous than San Fran despite the Bay Area's stereotypes.

I also broadly used this term earlier and, perhaps, it is not the best chosen one. However, what I find ignorant is the lack of respect for another human based on who they are. The ignorant individuals are those that believe that homosexuality is a choice. I recognize that people are given a choice in regards to whether they act on their preference towards someone of the same sex. People are also given a choice in regards to whether they act on a preference towards someone of the opposite sex. The former is still a homosexual whether they act on it or not and the latter still straight. People are not given a choice. It is not something that is learned. It is something that you are born with. I love women and really cannot see how a man is attracted to another man. But I couldn't care less if they are. BINGO!

I have participated in team sports and individual sports with gay athletes and have never seen an issue in the locker room or on the field/court. I don't care one bit if a person is gay or straight. My only opinion of athletes as people is formed in their respect for others. Michael Sam is a courageous individual and one that, I feel, will be an excellent ambassador and, hopefully, allow other athletes to acknowledge their homosexuality publicly without fear. Sport has been as harmful to the equal rights fight as hip hop music, and the opportunity to lead the charge to allow people to express themselves without fear of persecution and intolerance is there. Over the last few years, the media has caught numerous tweets and interviews from athletes expressing outright homophobia and intolerance towards having a gay athlete on their team. This passes down to the youth who look up to these athletes and take their mentality to heart, carrying forth their mindset to the locker room at their grade school, high school and college. Macklemore has done wonders in pop culture and athletes like Michael Sam can do just as much in sports culture. This, in my opinion, was a momentous day in sports history.

Update: Keeping An Eye On Toronto's Ambitions
VanCity replied to ICanSleepWhenI'mDead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Not factual at all. The Raptors are extremely well supported. Games are most often sold out and average attendance is >97%. MLB had it's time in Toronto and still attracts decent crowds, though based on the number of Blue Jays caps you see in town, you'd think they would be sellouts every game. Toronto is a sports town. It just hasn't figured out if it's an NFL town. -
Update: Keeping An Eye On Toronto's Ambitions
VanCity replied to ICanSleepWhenI'mDead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I fall into the category of "Canadian Bills fan who hates the Toronto Series". I grew up there, surrounded by fans of almost every NFL team aside from the Bills. Toronto is not loyal to any one team in the NFL and, based on the length of time that the NFL has been popular and the allegiances formed with certain franchises by the city's NFL fan populace, I expect it would be a good amount of time before we would see a unified fan base rooting for a Toronto franchise, never mind one that many of them root against and have for years. Ergo, the support for the team sucks, the stadium sucks, the pre-game atmosphere is a joke and it puts the Bills at a disadvantage while burning one of their home games. I see no reason that a team looking to break a 14 year playoff drought would accept a game there aside from finances. Here's an idea: figure out what the Seahawks have done. Cross-border support for the Hawks is incredible in the Canadian Pacific Northwest. The number of fans from Vancouver, the BC Interior (Kelowna, Kamloops) and Vancouver Island that own season tickets, wear Seahawks paraphernalia and loudly cheer for the Hawks is immense. I go to 1-3 games every year in Seattle and am joined by thousands of border crossing fans. How did they do this? By offering a great stadium experience? Having "cool" uniforms and branded paraphernalia? By having a winning franchise? (FYI, I have been going to Hawks games for 8 years and the support from the North has been relatively un-changed and consistently strong despite some rather lean years). I really have no idea what the reason is. I go because I miss the in-stadium NFL experience that I had growing up and going to Bills games. If Toronto can harness what has happened with the Vancouver area, the Bills won't need a game in Toronto, Toronto will go to Buffalo in droves. -
Bills Sign TE Tony Moeaki to the Active Roster
VanCity replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wow! They must be thinking he has fully healed because that's more commitment than they should be giving to a player with such an extensive injury history. If he is even 85% of the player he was three seasons ago, the Bills got themselves a solid TE. That being said, what does 85% of a person really look like? -
Dear Mr. Brandon--the Toronto series must go
VanCity replied to dezertbill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
As a former Torontonian, I will say unequivocally that Toronto fans, in the large majority, are NFL fans not Bills fans. I grew up as the lone Bills fan amongst my friends, many of whom played high school football and were dedicated NFL fans. As such, kill the series. Who needs a bunch of people at their "home game" cheering for the other team while barely filling a stadium? it is a failed experiment. And, while we are on the topic, never move the Bills to Toronto. If they HAVE (worst case scenario) to move to Southern Ontario, move them to St Catherines or Burlington, an intermediate locale so they can never, ever play in the stupid Rogers Center again. I worked there during the Jays World Series years and it's a giant mausoleum. Cold, spiritless and not aesthetically pleasing in the least. -
As someone who watched Tuel at WSU, I would like to offer some hope for the QB results today. Tuel was a good college QB and his three biggest attributes were smarts, elusiveness and his touch on both short and long throws. These are all things that Hackett needs to capitalize on, and that, based on my assumption that Tuel has a strong comprehension of the playbook, he may need to loosen the reins a bit to see. Tuel read the defense well in college and was able to make a surprising number of changes at the line in his last year. If he gets pushed out of the pocket, his foot speed and ability to place throws on the run serve him well. If the D breaks coverage, he seemed to see the field very well and consistently found open receivers. The guy is not perfect, but if he is the Bills starter today they could do a lot worse.
