and back on point- the purpose of this thread was to discuss the USA soccer team in the 2014 world cup. Like it was stated- this whole team will be back, with the addition of Davies, a healthy Gooch, and a few young up and coming players. The future is bright!

What about Shawn White? Travis Pastrana? Michael Phelps? Apollo Ohno? 307 million in our great country. There is plenty of phenomenal athletes here besides those who choose football, basketball and baseball. Seriously- 40 million in Spain + 60 million Italy + 50 million in England + 10 million in Portugal + 82 million Germany + 23 million Ghana + 16 million Netherlands + 21 million Ivory Coast= 302 million < 307 million in USA I think reports of USA soccer's death are greatly exaggerated

Read up on Quebec city 1989. These electro magnetic storms are no joke. The sun goes through 11 year storm cycles and every 22 years the storm is particularily strong. That is disappointing. I have read stuff that he was starting to turn the corner in Greece. He is still only 20 and hopefully he learns work ethic and how to be a better teammate. What a waste of talent if he doesn't change his attitude. Can you imagine what an over achiever such as Dempsey could do with Adu's skillset?

I can't wait to see the Northern Lights show this one will bring! And it should just start getting good 2013- we begin a new solar cycle!

2014 should be by far the best team the US has ever fielded in the WC IMO. We missed Davies speed and playmaking ability this cup- but he will be back soon- and 28 next WC. Him and Altidore play well together. Donovan will be 32, Howard 35, Dempsey 32, Onyewu will be healthy and 32. Onyewu will pair with Omar Gonzales(who will be 24) and they will be an intimidating imposing pair on defense. The rest of the team will be young come 2014- Bradley will be 26, Edu 28, Altidore 25, Torres 25. Other possibilities are Freddie Adu- who has been coming on strong lately. We certainly could use his playmaking ability. Ricardo Clark, Marvel Wynne, Feilhaber, Polak, Jonathon Spector, Bocanegra, Chris Pontius, Holden My guess for starting lineup: Davies and Altidore Donovan, Bradley, Edu, Dempsey Polak , Gonzales, Gooch, Spector Howard Any other guess's for 2014 lineup? What young players will make it?

6 weeks of not working out after you are in great shape is not that big a deal. You get it back quickly. It said he had surgery after the season. If he has had time to workout since the surgery that is alarming if he is out of shape. We are counting on Hardy and he has a chance to be the #2
