  1. And it seems like Americans love to bash the French gratuitously. Well take a good hard look in the mirror before you cast that stone
  2. Mostly, but there is lots of tourists and immigrants too. There is a big influx of immigrants, but many are relegated to slums and treated as second class citizens from what I have seen. But French kids do love McDs for some reason. There is some great literature documenting French cuisine pre corporate homogenization. The Food Of France by Waverly comes to mind immediately. And it great to read A Moveable Feast by Hemmingway and not have any McD's references. Paris must of been amazing back in the 20's. I wish I could remember where I read about all the Bouchons that have closed so I could share. It seemed like there were great restaurants every block and Paris was a moveable feast. Too bad Olivier doesn't come round much too much these days. I would love to hear his informed take. I like to think there is more to American culture then fast food, greed, Lady Gaga, pro wrestling and NASCAR. That seems so foreign to me
  3. They also have resisted the term "email". I can understand why some feel it is censorship (I am vehimately opposed to any censorship) but I feel this is preservation of their beautiful French culture. Globalization sucks IMO and France (and just about everywhere else) is littered with McDonalds, KFC, Nike, etc. I have read accounts of how many Parisian bouchons (over 10,000 IIRC) have closed since 1900. The first McDonalds opened in France in 1979 and it spread like aggresive cancer. It sickens me when I see glorious Wenceslas Square in Prague desecrated with Burger Kings and Pizza Hut. It is the homogenization of cultures. It blows my mind when I see someone foregoing the exquisite cuisine of France for a McDonalds, just as it blows my mind when I see someone pass up a Vienna coffeshop for a Starbucks. Corporate America is desecrating the world, destroying cultures, and exporting obesity and diabetes. I support France in their attempt to preserve their culture
  4. I remember that Cowart Tampa game. It was his last series before the injury- Cowart first down sack, Cowart second down sack, Cowart third down sack. Cowart was starting to dominate.
  5. Keep it real. I can't believe how many beautiful girls are ripped as unattractive on this board. Gissele is !@#$ing gorgeous! Since you all are such studs- how bout you post a pic and show what a stud who can pick and choose supermodels looks like
  6. its too bad you can't convey smell on a computer. That would be great if anyone who logged on that sight the computer would emit a very strong bacon odor that would last for days and would be tough to wash off
  7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SIIEkxyCWCs here is another loser dealing with a foul ball. Gratuitous hottie and I love how the female sportscaster calls him out
  8. I am sorry for your loss Mead. I wish you and your family peace

  10. that was a bizarre storm. It was a very funky sky, then bright and sunny, then hail started falling and intense lighting for 20 minutes, then bright and sunny, then funky sky again, then sun here on CT shore
  11. the choking was staged?
  12. Happy birthday AJ! Cheers my friend
  13. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EbnglCij-A&feature=related I wonder what Thomas Jefferson would think of this. My bet is he is spinning in his grave
  14. I live in Essex CT- Old Lyme is next town over the river. Ticks are everywhere. Last week my brother was working on our garden with me- and he had two ticks on him. When I go hiking I try and cover up. Ticks also love long hair. Most ticks wont get you sick- but plenty will. The sooner you diagnose Lyme disease the better. Lyme disease gets nasty and has all sorts of terrible symptoms. Good luck. No person or dog should have to suffer
  15. Thanks for the reminder!
  16. or an asinine draconian drug policy. How come there are not bodies shot dead in the street in Amsterdam?
  17. The first hour of Zeitgeist 3 is very interesting. It is a couple brilliant psychologists speaking about nature versus nurture. Very fascinating. And police serve their function in a society and it is not an easy job. But when they shoot an innocent man 60 times I cannot defend them. They were hoping to catch Guerena with weed and prosecute him. Well in my book shooting an innocent man defending his family 60 is a hell of a lot worse then possessing hemp. So my friend is a waiter at a local restaurant. Some young kid there received weed in the mail. The police could of busted him right away. Instead they waited until the kid was at work- and ATF comes storming in with assault rifles. My friend said it was intimidating as hell. Customers asked him "what is going on?". My friend said "the health department is really tough these days". A little levity in light of the shock and awe technique meant to intimidate. Shock and awe for hemp. A bit overkill, don't you think?
  18. Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth - Buddha They can bury reports and lie and deceive, but the truth is coming out
  19. Cover up going on. They sealed the search warrant- four days after the tragedyu
  20. And the police are lying and trying to cover up. The LEAST thing they can do is man up and admit they !@#$ed up, apologize to the wife, cooperate with the investigation, and accept whatever the verdict is. Shame on all involved. and our drug policy is retarded. This was over hemp?
  21. And they killed a hero Marine defending his family- over pot. They shot him dead in front of his family 60 times. !@#$ing disgusting Let justice be served
  22. so what is your opinion of the Jerome Daly verdict? Isn't Jaime Roldós Aguilera's death suspicious? What do you think of Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh? Shouldn't we mind our own !@#$ing business? Check out the first two parts of this film. I would really like to hear your opinion on how the Fed Reserve is portrayed. And I would like to hear your opinion of John Perkins
  23. LOL meds. I don't even take aspirin- let alone the heavy **** you suggest from the drug dealers (Pfizer, Merc, etc). So enough with the ad hominem drivel. There are interesting topics brought up in that movie. Of course minds are like locks, and only work when they are opened. No need discussing issues with narrow minded people. And it is laughable when they try and launch dogmantic attacks. Of course you know all about the Federal Reserve. And of course you know about how the World Bank and IMF work. I started this thread looking for some interesting discussion. For example- the Jerome Daly court case is fascinating. Well to each their own. Ignorance is bliss. Enjoy your Fox news
  24. different subject matter with Addendum. This is about the Federal Reserve, predatory capitalism, inherent flaws of our economic system. It proposes solutions which I agree with. The Confessions of an Economic Hitman guy I have seen speak a few times and he is spot on. I think it is a very interesting provocative film. I would love to hear criticisms from someone that actually watches the film
