Should the Bills trade UP to #1???
Pete replied to DrDawkinstein's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have been a draftnik for 35+ years and I don't see a clear cut #1 pick this draft. IMO the Bills are in a good spot at 8 because they are not slotted to overpay, there is no clear cut top 10, it is a great spot to trade down, the draft is weak at QB-but strong at WR and LB, and it is a deep draft once you get passed that top 10. It is an ideal year to trade down. I personally would love it if Geno slid to the Bills at 8- and some team wanted to trade mad draft picks with Buffalo to draft Smith. In a NY minute! -

IMO there is no QB worth the #1 pick. And it is also my opinion that no QB belongs in the first round this year, but will be overdrafted. We need WR's, LB's, LG, TE and TE just as much as QB. And there are 22 starting position on a football team. Football is not all about the QB and the Bills have major holes, and major depth issues. We need to trade down for more picks if anything -

NO !@#$ING WAY! Maybe in next years draft. That is if we don't already have pick #1 -
My apologies. Repressed feelings of dismay(Winfield-Clements-Williams-etc) surfaced when we let Levitre walk. That is very disheartening to me as a Bills fan. And how complacent our front office has been. I thought last year when we reupped SJ and signed Mario that things changed. I am an optimist by nature, but the Bills have been beating on me for decades. Hopefully we make some moves and have a good draft, and I revert back to a happy go lucky Bills fan

Let's take some guesses why OBD isn't doing anything
Pete replied to TheKickIsGood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
OBD isn't doing anything because the Bills are so talented and have been for decades. They are damn near a perfect football team. Why mess with success? We can idly rest because this team is poised for yet another stellar season -
don't worry- we have 6 draft picks(and we are contemplating trading away multiple picks to move up for a QB). Superbowl!

you beat me to it. The Bills are the farm system for the NFL. Just ask the Titans

WR is deep in this draft. QB is not. I would be all for drafting Womack or best available OL at #8 and trying to fix Levitre catastrophe, then spending next 2 picks on WR(Woods, Hunter, Martin, etc) and devoting rest of draft to D and depth, and finding 1 developmental QB and 3rd string RB. Therefore shoring up defense, and lines, and WR. And then waiting for next years real QB class. If we draft Smith or Barkley and they suck and we are stuck with them, and miss out on Manziel or Murray because we are committed to a tomato can that we overdrafted and overpayed- this franchise will be screwed the next 5 years

We need to add a minimum 3 quality NFL Wrs to this team. It is a toss up what unit is a bigger mess- WR or LB. It is kind of hard to run a 3-4 with marginal LBs and it is hard to run a West Coast offense when your #2 and 3 WR's are Ruvell and TJ
-
Yep, some move up in the standings, some drop like rocks. Also some teams some teams pick #32, some teams pick #1

very telling. San Francisco and Baltimore just were Superbowl teams, so I can understand why they only signed 1 free agent. What is our excuse for complacency? And Casell already signed with the Vikes? I am not a Casell fan, but we need to field a roster and are desperate for a QB or 2 or 3
-
I like the Lawson signing a lot. Now I am wondering if we see any other signings pinned the rest of the year
-
And our front office seems content with that. This is one frustrating offseason. Usually hope springs eternal come draft time. And this has been the one time of year to be optimistic as a Bills fan. Well not this year for this Bills fan
-
Our front office is content with depleted roster and mediocre at best talent level. We were 4-12 Buddy's first year. Last year we were 6-10 and currently have longest playoff draught. Off last year's team, subtract Levitre, Fitzpatrick, Nelson, Jones, Barnett, Kelsay... and have made one decent addition-Lawson. Currently we have no viable starting QB, LG, #2 WR. Our LBers are a mess. We haven't had a good TE since McKeller. Yet we are asleep at the wheel. This is the worst I have seen this franchise since the early 80s

Eugene Cyril "Geno" Smith III - QB - West Virginia
Pete replied to The Voice of Truth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
current braintrust gave Fitz a huge contract. So they are not exactly great evaluators of QB talent either. Jim Kelly. Joe Ferguson. Jack Kemp. The good Buffalo Bills QBs are few and far between -

I think a trade down is the best Bills option. We do need to draft a QB, and we most likely can trade down to the 20's, still draft a QB, and gain an additional selection. It seems like Buddy is more open to trade down's in drafts now too -

And if the Bills think JP is the guy, trade up. If the Bills think RJ is the guy, make a big move. If the Bills think Bledsoe is the guy, make a big move. These clowns cannot evaluate QBs. Don't risk additional picks that we desperately need for a marginal QB in a weak QB class -
Amen. The only positions I was confident about were Byrd, RB, Oline, Dline,SJ. We were swiss cheese before the offensive line was eviscerated. Why create another gaping hole? And by drastically weakening our oline, we are now jeopardizing our strength at RB(and Spillers health). Also any QB walking into this **** show will be running for their lives looking for a qualified #2 WR to throw to. Spare me "we still have the draft and free agency is not over". There are way too many holes. Nix has been here 3 years. Any team can be turned around in 3 years- its an inditement on Nix. We are not improving, we are regressing. Same old Bills, same old Bills ways

Has anyone seen this team worse off than right now?
Pete replied to billsfan_34's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Vince ferragamo Matt kofler years were brutal. And for some perspective, we were 0 for the 70s against dolphins. But we still suck this year and are in very bad shape -
left tackle in first round is my guess
