Bills @ Carolina Preseason Game Thread (kickoff now @ 7:36pm)

Sweeney is better than you give him credit for. Coaches have been talking him up, how smart he is, how hard worker, how improved. Howard has done nothing to win spot over Sweeney or Morris. And Sweeney and Morris play special teams -

I think your projection is pretty spot on. Brandon Beane has said if you arent a starter, you better be good at 3-4 phases special teams. Quintin Morris has been one of leaders in special teams play this preseason-29 plays I believe I heard on Joe Marino's podcast. OJ Howard has never played special teams. Morris has been the surprise of the camp. And coaches have been raving about Sweeney. Knox-Sweeney-Morris is my prediction for Bills TEs So last spot IMO comes down to Hodgins, Spector, Lewis, McCloud,Blackshear or Duke

Hodgins makes plays for Bills. Has OJ?

we are NBA orphans. I was conflicted, do I cheer for Clippers? I did for a bit, and felt dirty. So I started liking the Supersonics. I got back into watching basktball for awhile, then the Sonics moved to OKC. I was born in Oklahoma City, So I guess Im a OKC fan. NFL Champions League NHL MLB Basketball ^thats my rankings of leagues

Blackshear would be our returner too. Who are our returners? Isiah, shakir? Then who? Cook? Hyde? Duke?
-
absolutely

who takes Ford's spot backup G? Or are Bills only keeping 8 or 9 OL?
-
one down. I put the over/under at 3. Then Id bet the over

Morris is my sleeper pick to make roster. The Bills really like him. And they aren't playing him. Either hes making roster, or they are trying to sneak him on practice squad. Sweeney has made some plays, is well respected by teammates, and definitely has a shot at making team. Both those factors, OJ will not be on Bills final roster IMO- albeit by trade or cut down day

Its good to hear from some old time posters that have been posting lately. They were all great fans supporting the Bills during some tough years, god bless them!

Going forward with cap constraints, coupled with Beanes late round wizardry, stockpiling draft picks and compensatory picks can help sustain the Bills dominance the next 10+ years
-
Howard, Hauck, Duke, Lawson all on trade block IMO. GMen- what are you offering? Broncos need a punter too. Send us those 6th round draft picks! I suspect the Bills prefer both Sweeney and Morris over OJ
-
my attempt at 53- those last 5 cuts are painful!

so is pettiness

Austin and Crowder are slots, and we have slot WRs. Hodgin can win jump balls. Josh could throw ball up high for Hodgins, he will go get it. Red zone threat. A big WR scores TDs, catches everything, wins jump balls, never drops....thats a dimension the Bills are lacking
-
Blackshear could be our returner. And he probably will be a beast at special teams. Versatility is valued high, and it makes sense. Versatilty frees up roster spots

I saw it that Sunday. Randall was a great athlete that who could play in todays NFL. The other thing I remember about Randall is how when he was about to be tackled, he would curl into a ball and launch himself into player, instead of sliding
-
Blackshear takes Dukes spot IMO. He's younger, cheaper, more upside, and he will be returner and special teams. He has Bills DNA "Raheem Blackshear actually wants to be Deebo Samuel. That is to say, the hybrid running back since his college days at Rutgers and Virginia Tech has been craving the opportunity to be utilized however his future NFL employer may deem fit. He'll carry the ball, he'll go out for and catch passes, he'll return kicks and punts. Hell, he'll even go in at left tackle if that's what his coaches want." https://www.si.com/nfl/bills/news/bills-undrafted-free-agent-profile-raheem-blackshear

Players that are ST only…how much value do they have?
Pete replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall
You can get all fancy discussing % roster spot spending nuances it’s all about final score. If Bills return a punt for game winning score, we win game- what % is that worth? if converse happened and we lost in those circumstances, because we were rigid with 5% roster ST allotment(instead of prioritizing ST), how does that factor in? We should strive to be top notch in all 3 phases. Marv Levy was a huge proponent of special teams. And those Bills special teams were special. #89 and Pike were all time great ST tandem -
Beane loves his draft picks, and is big fan of extra 6th round picks
