  1. i hope he understands that people have tried calling that place to get to players, coaches, etc, and the front desk isn't very helpful. in fact, they regularly deny they're even there. jw
  2. beat me to it, Beer. was just going to supply that link. always good to help, no? jw
  3. providing this thread a bump. get well soon, Big Al. quite dull 'round here on the sidelines at camp without you. jw
  4. now Fitz has to go? geez. i seem to recall the Bears making the Super Bowl without a franchise qb last decade. seattle did, too. and the jury may still well be out on Sanchez. i won't argue that Lee Evans hasn't played up to the value of his contract, however, it's tough to argue that Fitzpatrick is overpaid. and when it comes to overpaying players, well, is Peyton Manning really worth $90 million over five years? debatable. i don't see anything wrong with the Bills sticking with their offense going into this season. there was far too much uncertainty in regards to the lockout, and very little time to school new players on Gailey's system. the offense showed signs of relevance last year under Fitzpatrick, so why scuttle that development at this point, and given the handcuffs of no minicamps. starting from scratch this offseason, would certainly be a setback. heck, the Bills essentially started from scratch last year under Gailey, given how the year progressed: Edwards cut, Lynch traded, the constant retooling of the offensive line. i don't see how the team gets better this year without Evans and Fitz as it stands right now. jw
  5. good guy, i hear. according to Paul Westerberg, however, "he never buys any smokes." (a line from one of my favorite Mats' songs: "Can't Hardly Wait") ... hope he buys a round or two. i'm in need of a good drink. jw
  6. i guess you didn't see the perfectly timed pass Fitz hit Evans up the left sideline a few days ago at camp. i will question your opinion that Fitzpatrick can't throw the deep ball. he's proven on several occasions that he can, is more than willing to do so no matter what play the coaches call. that includes his win under Perry Fewell, when Perry asked Fitz to be conservative, and Fitz hit the deep ball to seal a victory at home. and no one can fault Fitz for throwing the deep ball to a wide-open Stevie Johnson against the Steelers in OT. you ask me, Johnson still has something to prove entering this season. you have somewhat of a point here in regards to Lee. i'll disagree, in saying Evans still has plenty of value to this offense. without him, i'm not sure if the mix works. that said, you have a right to say what you're saying. your confrontational approach, however, toward other posters attempting to enter into the discussion makes it difficult to side with you. easy, there, tiger. jw
  7. if you're downtown, best place to stay is the crowne plaza. it was the host site for the PGA Championship a few years back. it's not a "great" hotel, and the service in the restaurant was very, very slow. however, it should work. another option is the raddisson downtown. i've never stayed there, but from what i saw from the lobby when i was covering some conference, it looked to be ok. otherwise, i've got a pullout sofa in my hotel you can flop on. jw
  8. rather than respond with more hate, let me offer some compassion to one who appears to need some with a few kind words: jesus, allah, buddah, or whomever you might worship, still loves you. jw
  9. party, hardy, bubba. you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about. i party to the Replacements, Joe "baby" Strummer and Stevie Earle. if that makes me a phony, then, since we're laying labels, that makes you captain or tenille and paul anka all rolled into one sugary sloppy one. as you've degenerated this thread to its utter base level, in which sense makes no sense and reality is but a myth, then i'll respond with a big, fat, wet fart. c'mon, now tell me who's freaking talking points i'm referring to now? jeeesus, whatta crybaby. in your world, the only thing that makes sense is to label people one thing or the other and to wholeheartedly imagine yourself as the last free-thinker alive. well, guess what, flubber, ain't even close. in fact, i'd accuse you of being a simpleton, but why disparage the foolish? so i'll leave you with one last thought: why do you take yourself so seriously, when few others do? as for me, i've as dumb as they come, acting with a distinct instinct of what's fair and what's not. i don't need a script for that, or a party to follow. i'm a dog, but not dogmatic. jw
  10. no word. this free agency is a bit of a free-for-all, very different in how it's gone in past years for obvious reasons. i would anticipate the Bills might still sign an OL at some point this weekend, given that they did take a run at Clabo. trouble is, it's uncertain who. jw
  11. it was hardly a secret the Bills were interested in Clabo. however, i take true issue in how this blog (the person who runs the site claims it's not a blog, but i beg to differ) presented its version of the story today. first it reported that the deal was done, and its source was very trustworthy and they wouldn't be reporting this if it wasn't. and then they reported that the news would come down later tonight. well, it did, and not the way this blog reported it would. and then we get a convenient explanation on how things apparently went down, and how this blog correctly reported the wrong story. sorry, this is more than a pet peeve of mine when it comes to some (and i stress some) bloggers. in this business, being first is always the goal, but being accurate is more important. an apology is in order, otherwise, this site is essentially what it claims it isn't: a blog. jw
  12. guess the hairdresser misheard. blow dryer too loud, maybe. and yet, the guy from the website swore, i mean on my dead body swore, this was true. jw
  13. i've made my calls. no responses yet. ... anyone at the airport, checking with the friend of a friend's brother, who's sister might know a hairdresser from atlanta, who just happens to be the cousin of a person who lives 8 blocks from Clabo? jw
  14. there's only ONE other clabo thread?! jw
  15. the short answer is no. he is a free agent. jw
  16. players are not allowed to sign at this moment. they can agree to deals, but cannot sign. it might be a little nitpicky, but it is a clear distinction. jw
  17. Poz provided The AP that quote back in March once he was tendered just before the lockout began. Today, he told The AP that though he's still interested in coming back, he also intends to entertain offers from other teams. Then again, I don't think Poz thought he would have a shot at entertaining offers, as the the thought was the Bills -- and all NFL teams -- would get first crack at re-signing their free agents. That has now changed, given how late we all are into the offseason. jw
  18. had one a few years back and took an entire weekend to hack away at it. fortunately, my computer had two different accounts on it already, and i was able to start chipping away at the virus through the unaffected account, which eventually became infected. but access to the other account at least provided me a way in. at the time, Spybot proved to be the most effective. but things change over time, and what worked then might not work now. this virus was so malicious, it prevented me from using system restore. patience is a key here. try everything, and if that doesn't work, try it again. good luck. jw
  19. i missed his ESPN interview. he was very good with me last night. jw
  20. not entirely correct, as I had the same question this morning. however, the NFL eventually released a statement that read: "The NFL announced that players can begin voluntary workouts at club facilities on July 23 if the NFLPA Executive Board approves the settlement terms. Following the reconstitution of the NFLPA as a union and approval of the new CBA by the NFLPA membership, the League year and free agency signings will start at 2:00 p.m. ET on July 27 and training camps for all teams will open on July 27." the underlined/bolded portion clearly puts the onus on the players executive board to approve the terms. jw
  21. George Wilson did not mention the "slipped in" line, and he was on the conference call. jw
  22. booooo-ring. got through the first 25 or so, and they all appeared SFW. jw
  23. keep in mind, too. this is a proposed 10-year deal WITHOUT an opt out. some marriages don't last that long. and there's no chance of a prenupt here. i'd read every line. jw
