anyone who cites Hannity as being factual is truly fooling themselves. jw -
Liberal Media Bias
Delete This Account replied to SageAgainstTheMachine's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
um, there's this perception that the media leans to the left. whether or not that's true, at the very least blind foolery isn't part of the equation, no? jw -

really, Darin? let's try that. ... wait, let me hold my breath. ... i thought better of you than to get brought into this blind hyperbole. jw people left the inner city, allowing the core to rot. i live in Buffalo. i refuse to live in the suburbs because they are the safe-haven for the entitled. jw -

Fire Chan.... Hire Wannstedt

so, let's review. you're questioning the Bills decision to hire Chan Gailey, because you don't think he's done a good job. and you're proposing that the Bills make the switch to Dave Wannstedt because he isn't Chan Gailey, yet was brought in by Gailey. so you're questioning Gailey's ability to run the team, yet at the same time praising him for recognizing talent and bringing in a guy who might make the defense better. you're also asking me to assess the job Ralph Wilson has done. sure, he has his faults. and one of the problems the Bills have encountered over these past 12 years is a front-office and coaching carousel that has contributed to a lack of continuity, and set the team back many years because it has been forced to start over again and again and again. and yet, you're now suggesting that the Bills once again start over, which could well result in pushing the team's development back another three years. yes, that makes a whole lotta sense. jw oh, and i question your suggestion in how Chan has "screwed up" the offense. evidently, i must be missing something given the fact that the Bills are in a position to score their most points since 2004, rack up their most yards since 2002, have a quarterback throw for 3,000 yards in back-to-back seasons for the first time since Jim Kelly and had a running back in Fred Jackson who was being mentioned as a mid-season MVP candidate. and let's not bring up the offensive line which, despite it's injuries, has held up pretty well and far better than many would've expected. but you're right, the offense is "screwed up." of course, your definition of "bottom of the league" might differ from mine given that the Bills offense currently ranks 14th in the NFL in yards gained, 11th in yards rushing, 15th in yards passing and 14th in points scored. perhaps, in your upside-down world that ranks as bottom-half. in a 32-team league, that actually ranks as top half and an all-in-all improvement over last year when the Bills actually finished in the bottom-half. -

well, except for our dear SKOOBY, who no longer haunts us here, most veteran posters know better than to start yet another "fire the coach," "what's up with Fitz?" yada-yada thread. there's dozens of those floating around here already. and new posters -- whether they're young or old -- should respect that before rushing to hit the "START NEW POST" button. in my time on this board, i think i've started -- i dunno -- 15 threads, some of which were quickly shut down because it was poking fun at the number of "fire the coach" "what's up with the qb?" "who we gonna draft" threads that have occasionally littered this board. i'm not in favor of those who've suggested new posters on probation be barred from starting new threads. new posters will find their voice eventually. but if they don't get their hands rapped for some of these threads, then when shall they learn? Happy New Year. jw -

that's fair, and you have your right to your point of view. though why this board needs one more "fire the coach" thread, i don't know, i'll admit i probably went a little too far here. And for that, I do sincerely apologize. i won't go into detail or apologize, however, for what is perceived by some here as "softball" interviews with Mr. Wilson. i do my job. i ask questions. i get responses. i ask follow up questions when necessary. i report the news. if you don't like what's said, well, you might as well blame me. jw -

you're probably right. but these threads are relatively dull and quite predictable so thought i'd punch it up a little. jw -

so, someone elects to sign up and join TwoBillsDrive and, in the midst of another bad season, comes up with a wild idea: "Coach needs to be fired. Another coach needs to be hired (or, in this case, promoted)." anyone is better than the guy the team's got. and even Dan Henning would do. new poster loves said idea, believes it to be so out of the box and unique, that a new thread needs to be started. "damn the lot of them: no one's thoughta this before. feet first i'm jumping. what a genius, am i. i can't believe no one -- and i mean NO ONE -- has ever thought of this before. not two years ago, not 5 years ago, not 7 years ago. ... not since perhaps Hank Bullough was the coach!!!!!" never mind the fact the team has gone through five coaches already in 11 years. never mind that the constant turnover has sunk the bills to this perennial rebuilding point for quite some time. never mind the fact that the Bills offense and defense, for that matter, have shown signs of improvement over last year. change is necessary, because change is different. and thus, we can all rest easy, because from out of nowhere, and thanks be to the intrawebs for providing this poster the vehicle, to provide a solution in which Buffalo's problems have been solved for essentially ever. can't wait for poster's next suggestion, or let me guess: "Bills need a pass-rusher." jw -

Jared Allen rips Detroit
Delete This Account replied to DaveinElma's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
sorry, let me jump in. having grown up across the river from Detroit, i have certain insights into what makes the Motor City tick. and i don't unnerstand this reference to the PC police. jared allen ain't the first to diss Detroit. in fact, it was quite fashionable in the 1980s for the Toronto Star to compared Toronto to Detoit to reinforce to blind Torontonians that their freaking city was superior. Detroit is not a "natural disaster" or something borne out of "liberal policies." and you're a buffoon to go down that road. Detroit is a product of much what's wrong with today's suburban cul-de-sac culture, and compounded by the off-shoring of manufacturing jobs. why not just lump Buffalo and Cleveland into the Detroit conversation, because there's not much difference here nor there. the downfall of Detroit is a lesson in many things gone wrong: and greed and fear is much at the heart of it. it's a moral story of foolishness and ineptness, much like Buffalo where they built a goddam highway along the waterfront to eat up much of the best land. but that's not all. there was a white flight to amherst, which brought upon a suburban entitlement superiority. thankfully, there are cities that avoided this. NYC comes to mind. but to suggest that this is a political problem is akin to suggesting that moon is made of cheese or the world is flat or newt has a moral affinity. jw -
What Happens If They Can't Resign Steve Johnson?
Delete This Account replied to box0life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
well, there i go, pretending to be a journalist and all. when, dagnabit, shall i ever learn. jw no offense, NoSaint, but among those of us following the team, there's a pretty strong consensus that failing to re-sign Pat Williams was one of the team's most disappointing decisions of last decade (not including draft). perhaps no one could have foresaw him going as long as he did, but his presence in the middle -- and the one-two punch he provided with Big Ted and then with Sam Adams -- was something the Bills had failed to replace up until, well, drafting Dareus. jw -

oh. my. gawd. you post this as a "change of pace," raising serious accusations such as "racism" and then giggling away as the board responds to your infantile, silly, foolish musings. you are either delusional or unconsciously naive, and perhaps both. the joke's on us, i guess, and yet no one with any reasonable sense of shame is laughing. you, sir, are a fool. jw

that's a fair opinion and there's no problem expressing it. i think Fitz is an average quarterback with above-average leadership abilities, which actually counts for something. the trouble with the offense right now is it's not working up to it's design. it's attempting to put far too much on Fitzpatrick, especially in the first half, when the Bills would rather play a ball-control style. compound that with a defense that's allowed something like 107 points in the first half in the past six games and incapable of generating turnovers to provide the offense short fields (as happened earlier this season) and it's doomed for failure. but to put it all on Fitz is wrong in my opinion. these points, to me, is why i think Fitzpatrick is regressing. ... and i'll repeat what i've said all week: Sunday's performance by the qb was dreadful. jw
