ok, now i'm confused. you start a thread questioning Marcell Dareus' comments, and when someone else suggests others need to be called out, you question their motives. and yet, you also agree with said poster by suggesting that you're not defending the quarterback, but at the same time say that you are in fact defending the quarterback because to do anything else would mean agreeing with the poster, who's been bashing the quarterback all along. so where does that leave us ... jw -

those are all good questions that remain unanswered. unfortunately i'm not in the speculation business, so it's not for me to make guesses. and if i had real evidence of strife in the locker room, i'd have reported it. ... jw -

well, to be fair, why does someone else have to point out how Dareus hustled, and not you in your first post. isn't hustle infectious, too? isn't that a playing mentality? and didn't he, by making that tackle, impress you? but evidently, words speak louder than actions, so pardon me if i have difficulty understanding the point that you're attempting to make. he played hard, but he didn't back it up with one comment, and therefore, you've made up your mind that he's soft or something. so what kind of game are you attempting to play here, because i'm calling a foul. jw -

how much more important is this game of football in our lives? where would you rank it? is it somwhere less important than curing cancer, but more than working the midnight shift at 7-11? and that's not to discount the person working the midnight shift at 7-11, either. i get it. you're unhappy with the quote. and yet, from what i saw on tv, Dareus was one of the few players still attempting to run down opponents 10 and 20 yards downfield, which to me is more of a reflection of his attitude than one mere quote. so sure, go ahead and hang him for it. and i realize all of bills nation is pissed off over this, but this is simply a game that's a mere distraction from our own lives, uplifts fans' spirits when their team wins and provides entertainment. and yet, in the real big picture, it is but a game. you come off as if you just lost a bet, because you picked the under. jw -
thanks, PTR. you were the first of several to give me a heads up on this. it is a good time to be a 'Mats fan (then again, when isn't it). and lots of good music out there. just got the new Patterson Hood CD, which is very good. and happened upon a Kills' song, "Pale Blue Eyes," which has blown me away. nice to see this two-person outfit growing into their own, and producing music that is less far less forced and far less navel-gazing than much of what jack white puts out. couple of other bands and groups i've happened upon. gotta check my playlist because haven't had much time to listen to music, but a visit to a music store is necessary and imminent. jw

he is underperforming, there's no doubt about that. and he does have certain privileges in regards to limiting his dealings with reporters. as for what happens between Chan and Mario i'm not in a position to speculate. i will also say that Mario does deserve credit for donating all of his proceeds from the sale of Mario's to Carly's Club. jw

Mario is the only player with a fridge in his locker. he has been known to crank up the volume on his stereo on Thursdays when the locker room is open to reporters. George Wilson, who shares a locker next to Mario, last week asked Mario to turn down the volume. He wasn't angry, and the two then joked around before George answered a few questions I asked. Mario is the first and only Bills player to my knowledge who has been allowed to make himself available to Buffalo reporters twice a week (on Wednesday and following a game). T.O. did not have this deal, and neither has any other player to my knowledge in Buffalo. And if they did have this deal, it was never enforced because I've approached all of the team's high-profile players on any given day of the week when I had a question to ask them. This is what I know, and what I've encountered. Not sure how I'm twisting this. jw

you can't. it's a free download. and if you can't download it, i'll send it to you. folks, i'm not sure if you can appreciate the wonder and potential of this. i've referred to westerberg as america's ray davies, and perhaps that's an understatement. but there's nothing like the wonder and waiting of a new album coming from paul that turns my crank. i guess, on this board, i can explain it only as close to as the electricity of a bills potential playoff run. or what everyone here might have felt when the bills closed out their win against the pats last year, and fred jackson carried the flag around the field in pure euphoria. there's few things that i like, and this is one. and my wife is the other. and the prospect of the anticipation for more, more, more, makes me tremble (a nod to Paul), because i feel like it's 1987, when the 'Mats were in their prime, and there was a wonder of what this band would put out next, back in the pure old days, when albums stood for something and there was something to liner notes. (look it up, people). i've written it before, and i'll do it again, Paul and The Replacements were beautiful losers, much like Buffalo, in their failure to make it big, and yet maintain their !@#$ you rebel reputation. listen to this, and then go hunting and pecking for more, because there's not much better musically out there, the voice, x factor, american idol, justin beiber, celine deon, pearl jam, cold play, dave matthews and heaven help us, creed included and/or combined. the grammy's really stink, no matter what anyone might suggest in the local entertainment section. jw

i was merely sending a message to Kelly the Dog. apologize if you took this as being meant for you. it wasn't. though, you responding to my note with contempt certainly is a little, well, ironic, no? jw

you can have your killers, and the youth can suck on their biebers, the kings of leon have long soldout like billy joel on broadway, or green day, and jeff miers can keep awarding all the 5 stars to jetrho tull for as long as he wants, while choosing to ignore anything relevant or new, but let's all rejoice because there's a new Paul Westerberg release, and an apparent promise for more. http://www.paulwesterberg.com/sounds/myroadnow.mp3 it's perfect, yet again, in its imperfection, so suck on this yearning ditty. few things seem to bring me true unadulterated joy these days, save for my wife and times like these. yay! jw (all the changes made involved vulgar phrases and profanities directed at beerball, who snubbed me at the Bills home opener.)

Are The Bills a Running Team?
Delete This Account replied to hondo in seattle's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i do believe the Bills are better when they're more balanced, and all this talk of an exotic passing attack was a little bit overhyped, particularly when considering what Buffalo has at the receiver spot. as for last year, the Bills were best when balanced, and were forced into becoming a pass-first team in order to play catchup to offset defensive deficiencies. and this was a stat i threw into the story: dating to the start of last season, Bills are 5-0 when Fitzpatrick makes 29 or fewer attempts. and they're 2-11 now when he throws more than 30 times. stats are stats, and can be used in many ways, but Gailey is a run-guy at heart, while taking into account how the NFL has changed. jw -
let's get a few things straight, here, bubba. i need not admit that i'm wrong when it's obvious we disagree. and just because we disagree doesn't mean one side's wrong. you can continue peddling your opinions -- because that's really all you've posited here -- and i can come back with what i know and let things be at that. and when it comes to lease talks, i thought your big issue was in regards to why the Toronto game was given back to Buffalo. sorry, it's all a little confusing trying to keep your points straight. as for me being in hiding, don't get so full of yourself. just because i've not responded to your pithy catcalls could also mean that i have other things to do with my life than wait with baited breath for your next predictable and obtuse retort. bubba, some of us have lives to lead and they, for some strange reason, just don't happen to revolve around you. go figure that, despite your own 110 percent claims, that some here might actually be capable of being immune from the large gravitational pull of your ego. plus, i happen to have a job, which some here think i do a make a pretty good attempt at doing in providing information by interviewing people, quoting them, and giving whatever perspective i might have in my attempt to seek the truth, however wrong you might find it to be. i'm one person, doing a simple task, and i'm not exactly sure why i must be knocked for it. i have not always been right, and have never claimed to be, but at least i write stories on the basis of what i'm told and manage to dig up rather than deal in speculation, heresay and blind baloney. and i believe that serves a purpose of some sort, otherwise, i'd probably be just some anonymous person named JoeW on this board pretending to be a bigshot with very little to back it up. so there, i've reported back to you with claims i believe to be true based on our few encounters. jw ADD: at least two people have told me that in negotiations talks occasionally stall, which is natural to negotiations. the Bills currently have the leverage in seeking to get the sweetest deal possible. yes, as Poloncarz noted, and the AP reported, there are obvious concerns that this proposed one-year extension does nothing to secure the team's long-term future as a result of Ralph Wilson's age and health and the uncertainty of what happens after he passes. yes, that is a concern. and yet, despite claims by some that the Bills are the only one who have not stated a commitment to keeping the team here, that's accurate. Russ Brandon has on numerous occasions stated that there is a commitment to keep the team in Buffalo for the long-haul. for what it's worth.

the 1-year extension has not been signed, but been agreed to in principle as reported by the AP. http://www.boston.com/sports/football/2012/09/12/bills-county-agree-year-lease-extension/OcmZCRxQ7GGPWbBAeD1h0L/story.html jw
