Colin Kaepernick [get 'er dun!]
Delete This Account replied to buffalover4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
for what it's worth, regarding the sudden Kaepernick hype: here's Trent Edwards numbers from his first career start (17-14 win over Jets): 22 of 28 for 234 yards, with TD and interception. perhaps should wait a week or 2 before krowning Kaepernick king. then again, in this day and age, all bets are off given the need to instantly place a label on everything and everyone. afterall, espn, this evening, enshrined not one, not two, but three active players into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. didn't even realize they had a vote. jw -

man, when attempting to read that post, i realized that i'll never get that 15 seconds back. ever. damn. jw -
uhhh, i did what now? you having an ax to grind with the media isn't my fault. and you're free to do so. think what you will, suggest we're miscreants for all i care, but i will take issue with you attempting to interpret my motives here as proof to fit your agenda. jw

sorry, have other fish to fry, and only so many questions to address of my own before taking requests, especially on a very, very short week. as for why Kirk isn't in the mix, don't know. it's been quite strange how the Bills have signed and re-signed him only to have him sit most games. it's in part for insurance in the event Nick Barnett gets hurt, trouble is Barnett hasn't gotten hurt. and i personally, wouldn't sit Barnett. i think the Bills lack oomph at the position, and have put far too much onus on the front four to make a push. jw

fair comment is fair comment. i have no trouble with those here criticizing my colleagues or me. it comes with the business. what i do take issue with is when the criticism is inaccurate -- as noted here in this thread -- or plain mean-spirited, as noted in a reply to a knucklehead in the Jerry Sullivan thread. merely wanted to point out the fact that Paul Hamilton's hockey credentials go far beyond high school. and in the Jerry thread, needed to point out that the poster was rude in his description. jw

for what it's worth, and to be fair, Paul Hamilton was inducted into the Iowa State Hockey Hall of Fame. the "high school" reference is quite misleading. jw

Jerry Sullivan can go to hell
Delete This Account replied to Dragonborn10's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jerry can go to hell? jeepers, after 12 years -- and counting -- covering this non-playoff team, one would think he and others -- including much of Bills nation -- are already there, no? jw -
karl rove...lots of splaining to do
Delete This Account replied to birdog1960's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
i'll attempt to be more subtle next time. but given that i've been beaten up on this board before for expressing my views, i've figured that i can vent here as subjectively as i can. but if you want true objectivity then: The election has led to questions in regards to the Republican Party's future, and how it rebounds from a presidential election loss that some believed it was in a position of winning, Karl Rove, Sean Hannity, Dick Morris and others among them. In fact, former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin questioned the state of the union by calling the results "perplexing" and whether the electorate supports the constitution. and former Republican nominee candidate Donald Trump went so far as to refer to America as being a world laughingstock before deleting several posts from his Twitter account. jw -
let me be the contrarian here, but i refuse now to see any movie featuring daniel day-lewis. to me, he's the oliver stone of acting. subtle he's not. and i was fully and completely turned off by that oil movie he did, "there will be dull" or whatever you want to call it. if i want a one-man ego show, i can simply listen to my own thoughts. jw

¶ perhaps it's time for the cheap smug hacks at msnbc to stop crowing, and the degenerate masturbators at fox to zip up. ¶ the re-election of obama solved very little if this nation reverts to the poralized state it's been since the right-wing nut jobs made their failed attempt to impeach clinton over a cum stain. far worse has been jismed over the past 14 years to give us all reason to pause. and that includes what's left of the so-called republicans social policy that's as out of step with reality as recurring myths that the earth remains flat. ¶ ¶ question arithmetic and science all you want, but it's quite clear that michelle bachman and sarah palin certainly don't add up, and it's time to reconsider the alienation of Chris Christie, Jeb Bush, and whether it might not have been best to run Ron Paul against Obama, given the fact that he actually had convictions to stick to. ¶ ¶ if what's left of the so-called Republican Party is not careful, it could very well sink to irrelavancy for the next 12 years. and that would be a dreadful shame, because obama's re-election had as much to do with the lack of a real choice as it did with pure numbers. and he could very well had been destined to be had if not for the total and complete ineptitude of an opposition duped blind in following a dreadful rush and hannity media-riddled dynamic that led it into the cold wilderness. for shame. ¶ ¶ it's time for the gop to fully and completely disown its cable television arm. ratings can only go so far in rallying a hick base of mere mouth-breathers and cul-de-sac anti-thinkers. ¶ but what do i know, eh? ¶ ¶ jw -
two, in 1976 i believe Eagles, "Hotel California" Rod Stewart's "Hot Legs." ... oops, the album was titled "Footloose and Fancy Free" and feature Hot Legs, which was -- and remains -- one helluva song. jw

Cd: went on a spree, Black Keys "El Camino," The Jam, "All the Mod Cons," Broken Social Scene "Broken Social Scene," Ryan Adams "Stone Roses," Chesterfield Kings "Psychedelic Sunrise," and The Knack, "Rock and Roll is Good for You" (a bunch of their pre-Knack demos and songs.) Record: Replacements "Pleased to Meet Me." Never got it on vinyl, so had to complete the collection 4-5 years back. Mp3: The Doughboys "Hear Me Moan," and Sloan, "Unkind." jw

Apple question -- Hacked?
Delete This Account replied to Delete This Account's topic in Off the Wall Archives
trouble is, we've got an older IMac, running OS 10.5, in which there are no more security updates. and this is the problem i have with Apple, their products last so long that -- and my wife is perfectly content with what this computer can handle -- that she's not wanted to buy a new one. jw -
Apple question -- Hacked?
Delete This Account replied to Delete This Account's topic in Off the Wall Archives
thanks all -- 'cept for Beerball of course she's changed that password and a few others. will do a little more reading to see what spyware stuff is out there. any good suggestions? jw -
Folks, got a question here. My wife believes her computer, an IMac, here at home may have been hacked somehow because several of her friends received some email from her address about some Romanian land deal or something. Goofy thing is, I didn't get this email, though I'm in her address book. Now it's possible that the AP filter may have blocked it before it got to me. That said, she's now afraid that the computer has been compromised and sensitive information may have gotten out. Trouble is, after doing some reading, I can't seem to find either a way to determine whether this has happened or whether whatever infiltrator still has access to this machine. There's no Spybot or Adaware scan that I can find that's designed for Macs. I've loaded in "Little Snitch" but that seems to tell me only what's going out and through what port, and lord knows if I can tell if any of this is right and/or wrong. Um, any thoughts for someone who's more accustomed to dealing with viruses and cleaning them out on a non-Mac machine. Hitting the sack, and will check in later. Thanks in advance. jw

i think this is a convenient way to suggest Obama's presidency is illegitimate. perhaps, some could have chosen to question whether Mitt was fit to be president given his family's background in Mexico. to say it hasn't been the subject of in-depth critical scrutiny overlooks the fact that it's been a subject that simply won't die, and constantly raised by those who seem to want to find loopholes that a Democrat has won back-to-back elections. the longer this is questioned, the longer it will take for Americans -- all of them -- to confront real issues as opposed to made up ones, in my opinion. and yet, there has not been one iota of proof that the Obama Administration has done anything to make it more difficult to own a gun in this country, despite those on the left who feel this could and should be a prime priority. i have difficulty understanding this Western European bogeyman thinking, too. they have canals in Amsterdam and in Venice, is that to say this may now become a trend in North America? and why are Western European politicians the ones as being singled out for this type of thinking. i'd make a guess that the people that vote might have something to say about that, too, no? just my 2 cents. jw -

i missed the Brian Williams takedown on trumps' tweets. having read about it today, i found it quite amusing. WIlliams said it appeared that Trump had "driven well past the last exit to relevance and veered into something closer to irresponsible." jw -

happy birthday promo, another year to get the gears greased, i hope. don't know what that means, but i mean well. jw -
i liked the part where the sauce was spilt. it was very sloppy. which is likely what made this nsfw. because spilt sauce getting onto your hands could wind up in the keyboard, especially if you don't have a enough napkins or wetnaps. it could become very embarrassing. because then you gotta call the boss over and explain to him that you dripped sauce all over the keyboard because you couldn't resist attaining a ravenous appetite after watching two scantily clad women handling hot meat -- pulled pork, no less-- over an open fire before sharing their juicy lip-smacking soft bun-capped delights over a bale of hay. jw wow, it's true what they say, guys can make anything sound lecherous.
