  1. 10 out of 10 panic? hardly. and not entirely sure if "panic" is right word. concern might be more apt, and it's not a 10 of that either. jw
  2. you're a mere harpee, seemingly pretending to make a point without revealing anything in any post of yours i've ever read. it's quite predictable, as is this post. i state my case. you follow up with some empty retort, devoid of point, substance or reason. jw and there, never found something so rewarding as hitting the ignore button. man, that felt so good.
  3. again, quite obvious you have no interest in modern music, and each post exposes that point. jw
  4. i live off the elmwood strip, and enjoy it immensely. as for downtown, there is a lot beginning to bloom down there and a vibrant sense of community beginning to develop. restaurants are popping up all over the place. so are a lot more bars. the only drawback so far is the lack of a supermarket, though, the mayor is finally attempting to make that a priority. i'd suggest a year-long, indoor farmer's market rather than supermarket, and if i had the money, i'd be the first to try to set that up. the weekend action in the daytime still isn't happening, as compare to the Elmwood and Hertel strips. but if you can get in at a reasonable price, i'd get in. the way they're redeveloping Main Street, and with 3,000 jobs expected to be added to the medical corridor in the next three years, and a new stadium expected, and Solar City coming, it seems only a matter of time downtown becomes a real attractive place to live. and, the prices, i'm told, are going up. jw
  5. that's one theory of the 'Mats genesis. though unsure if it were actual "critics" of the band. the Replacements were very much darlings to the critics, but had difficulty registering much sales. in fact, it's possible that the Replacements themselves coined the tag because they are very well known for their self-depricating ways. just check out some of the t-shirt slogans that came out of their last tour -- "Hate Us on Facebook" -- or what they're calling their upcoming tour: "Back By Unpopular Demand." either way, no Replacements fan that I know of ever considered the 'Mats to be derogatory. rather, it has been celebrated, because of how they've succeeded despite their very many failures. jw
  6. wow, the stain in my shorts is trailing. that's interesting. i left it to one choice on purpose. they're all, i think, compelling choices to get a vote, and i wanted it to make it as difficult as i possibly could. jw
  7. just expressoing myself. favorite group: The Replacements, of course. best rock and roll band of all time: The Rolling Stones, of course. jw what i feared the most, a post from you. jw
  8. yes they are. ummmm, my unlike of nickelback goes all the way back to when they were a bar band trying to make it in vancouver in the mid-90s. was at a bar they were playing at, and following their final set, they actually begged the crowd for an encore. i got up from my chair and yelled: "get off the stage, you guys (profanity) s^ck." i am not making this up. jw
  9. proceed. jw i wish i coulda voted for two of these. maybe three.
  10. i felt missed, but please proceed. actually, on second thought, the sun will come up tomorrow with and more than likely without this whole ppp thing. though that global warming denial stuff some of you folks swallow hook line and sinker do make me worry. jw
  11. i refuse to acknowledge this thread as legitimate, given there's another one that's already started. jw
  12. yeah, wasn't a big fan of chrissy hynde and the drummer once Honeywell-Scott and Fardon passed. jw
  13. so, you're not a fan of music, then. jw
  14. i'm barely, here, so, probably not. but i'm pretty sure i can outdrink you. jw
  15. ok, two things. no, i didn't pay $40 for parking. i actually parked for free. two, my wife is a very big fan. and she had one helluva a hoot of a time enjoying her christmas present from me. jw ummmm, i did the same thing, and it was a no-brainer. and, i hate to say it, it is about which bands rocks harder or is more rock and roll. both are rock and roll bands. but, let's use your extremely narrow and limited basis for judgement here, because you seem to be caught up in this which is the best band. it's the stones. charlie watts vs. ringo: hands down. keith richards vs. anyone: hands down. the glimmer twins vs. john and paul: slight edge beatles. the Beatles are very good, but there is no argument here by any real and comparable measure, except for maybe album sales, which really is no measure at all. popularity does not trump greatness. if that were the case then fleetwood mac would be the best band in the world based on "Rumors" sales (and yes, i'm using aged numbers, but i don't care to look up whether coldplay or some inspid crap band has cashed out since). and as much as i like fleetwood mac, that's simply not the case. and you make this case that The Beatles have "better" albums while somehow failing to taking into account that the Stones actually have recorded. as if Let It Bleed, Exile on Main Street, Sticky Fingers and Some Girls somehow don't exist. i ask, and i do this sincerely, have you listened to a Stones album that was released before 1981? my gawd. jw bah! hands down, the Beatles. please, the doors are dated. very little of their music resonates today. jw you need more informed friends. jw there's always one of you in this bunch. fart. fart. fart. pink floyd. please. jw please, that "everyone gets a medal" crap doesn't wash with me. by your account, nickleback should be considered. coldplay, too. it's not universally subjective. if that were so, every artist that was working the same time The Mona Lisa was painted would also be remembered. strangely, that's not the case. jw thanks. jw the Stones have 4. please. and i was being conservative by my count. hell, the Replacements have 8 better than them. jw you're kidding me. the stones were far more rooted and indebted to the true dirty blues than the Beatles ever were. give me a Keith Richards' hook long before a clean Beatles "ditty." jw i think i'm caught up now. jw oh, is it too late to say: "with all due respect?" shrug.
  16. Note, the April 7 date is set ONLY if there's a plea agreement. No deal, then no appearance and better likelihood of it going to trail in May. jw
  17. it's been non-stop since marrone stepped down. add in having to move out of buffalo news bureau, nhl all-star game, nhl features and nhl trade deadline, a bona game here and there, car shopping and squeezing in a vacation -- oh and a few* nights o' drinking -- and my time gets eaten up. jw (* more than four)
  18. i like the Beatles, but my god, when it comes to rock and roll, the Stones are it. i care not to read through this thread since a "majority" are absolutely wrong. and i mean that sincerely. jw
  19. i stopped following him on twitter a few months ago, around the time the bills parted ways with Mike Williams. anything i missed since? jw
  20. since i started the "hmmmms" through this search, i just figured one more hmmmm would work, hmmmm? jw
