Chambers agreed to his multi-year contact on Feb. 26, the day before free agency. Though it's likely that he actually "signed" it a few days later. I seem to remember a release coming out the following week indicating that Chambers was "signed." That said, he never hit the market because the deal was agreed to before free agency opened and while his rights were still controlled by the Bills. Though the original poster makes an educated point, and anything's possible, I still think he's in the mix to start at LG. Of course, we'll know more once minicamps get going. The one thing that caught my eye is that Chambers is listed at 6-7. He's tall, that's for sure, but he never struck me as being an inch shorter than Langston Walker. my two cents, for what it's worth. jw

Question: When, when you ask us to stick to rock and roll, who exactly are we leaving out here: Beethoven, Sinatra, Yanni, the Schmenge Brothers? Not many other genres are actually defined by a guitar player, really. Jazz? Perhaps. Country? Well, that's more of a vocal medium, though Buck Owens could pick a mean banjo, while Mr. Johnny Cash and Mr. Hank Williams could very well be defined as rockers in my book. Of course, you could be referring to the nerd strumming an acoustic guitar on the stairs of the frat house in Animal House, but I do believe John Belushi took care of that guy. jw

-- Lindsay Buckingham, inspired choice. He belongs in there based on his "Go Your Own Way" solo. Fantastic work. -- Prince, good call. People seem to forget he can work a guitar behind all his eccentricities. -- Mike Campbell. Saw Petty and The Heartbreakers tour when they were still relavent, back in the 80s, and Campbell was solid then. -- Don't know if Brian May is under-rated, though there's a case that he is. The songs he wrote for Queen were their best rockers. -- John Frusciante. Bravo. His work on Stadium Arcadium was out of this world. Though overplayed, his solo to end "Dani California," seemed a wonderful homage to Jimmy Page. And don't forget his subtler stuff, like listening to "Slow Cheetah." I bring that song up, because it popped up on my IPod last night. He just might be rock's most complete guitar player today. -- Honeyman Scott, Pretenders weren't the same without his driving influence on the inaugural album. I'll add two more: -- Bobby Stinson of The Replacements. Died too soon. -- David Grohl. He's grown up from his drumming days. jw

Fair enough. Thing is, Lind's continued comments haven't changed in four months. Heck, he told the Rogers-owned MacLeans Magazine a week before I quoted him. He told The National Post much the same last June. Fact is, they were interested and they're still interested. This isn't going away, and I guess the more times Lind says it, the more it sinks in. As for the county, Collins has said several times that he'd be open to more games in Toronto if the Bills remain in Orhcard Park. The Bills non-denial is notable, but what are they going to do, close the door on the opportunity to generate additional revenue? That wouldn't be smart business. My point is, there has been no significant development in the story in the public realm for quite some time. The Star's piece is just the latest in a long line of pieces to quote Lind as saying, "hey, we're interested in more games." And every time a story like this is posted, it raises a new round of angst, and fans will be fanatics. Sure, it ain't easy for those being fans of this team because of the inherent dependency issues one has to assume as part of the baggage that comes with rooting for the Bills. If it ain't another losing season, it's another quarterback or coach. And then there's the nervous tick that develops every time "Bills" and "Toronto" are contained in the same sentence, even it it's "Bill's girfriend went to Toronto and had a great time at the Korean Grill House." (Great place, I might add.) Thing is, there are still a lot of hurdles to cross before it grows from one game to all games. Rogers still hasn't named a successor to Ted Rogers. And the new boss will play a significant role in determining where this goes. The economy is still suffering and the Canadian dollar will likely remain around the 85 cent level for some time. There's also the uncertainty of where the next CBA talks will go, an NFL commissioner who has ties to the region, and political scrutiny -- don't underestimate Schumer's role here, as the NFL needs to keep Washington happy going into the CBA talks, especially if the NFLPA goes ahead with its threat to decertify (the implication there is the NFL might no longer be open to being protected by anti-trust laws). I'm not saying the Bills are staying or going. There's arguments to be made both ways. The reason for my post was merely to note that with all the time that has passed, not very much has changed since Lind said it the second or third time and the upteenth time. respectfully, jw

Well, a Toyota Forerunner, registered to the daughter of a former interim athletic director of an area school, and driven by said daughter's boyfriend, once ran me off the road outside Salamanca a few year's back. All I got from that encounter was a cut forehead and a wrecked car and not one sniff of a scoop. ... I'd prefer not to run into any contacts that way again, if you get my drift. jw

To be sure, I think that train left the station a long time ago. It's never been made clear to me how the car one drives is directly related to the substance of the "inside" information one gets. But that's just me being old-school about things, I guess. jw

If that's the case, let me be the first to report: -- The Bills will draft an offensive lineman with their first pick, because they need one. -- The Bills will draft a defensive lineman with their first pick, likely a pass-rusher or a run-stopping presence, because they need one. -- The Bills will draft a defensive back, possibly cornerback or safety, because they need one. -- The Bills will draft a linebacker, possibly outside or middle, because they need one. -- It's not yet been ruled out that the Bills will draft a running back or receiver, possibly tight end. -- Kicker, punter and long-snapper are also not out of the question with first-round pick. Though unlikely, this can't be ruled out. -- I'm also not ruling out a trade, possibly up or down, depending on what deals are offered. -- I'm also suggesting that Bills, upon making their first pick, whomever that might be and at whatever position as noted above, will be immediately pleased with their selection.
