  1. is it me, or did she misspell the title of her book? was it not supposed to be called: "Going Rouge"? jw
  2. really? Steely, i'm getting the sense of being unwanted. seriously, i'm starting to get the sense that you have issues. jw
  3. ¶ i am spartacus. i am chimp. i am the media. i am to blame for all that's gone wrong at 1 Bills Drive since the beginning of time. in fact, i was the one blowing wind to insure Scott Norwood's infamous kick sailed wide right. and how can we prove this, well, of course, i am Canadian, and obviously standing on The Left of the field. ¶ and how late it was for Magox to pile on. what, your dial-up slow today? ¶ ¶ a pound of flesh has been called for, and all you'll get is pure baloney from me, because your butcher's knives are so dull, they couldn't cut a fart. you come at the media for all that's happened because your desires are as misplaced as a pocket-pool party. ¶ in the wake of Dick Jauron's dismissal, there seems to be this sense of surprise that the Bills are dysfunctional, as if the curtain has been pulled and Oz exposed, and he proves to be Ralph Wilson. has anyone intimated anything different this decade? is the media required to hold your hand and lead you through this, as if it were some kind of a mirror maze at some county fair? ¶ really, are there enough daft people out there to somehow be surprised by what's gone on? we, in the media, are supposed to hold these people accountable because, of course, we pay their salaries. actually it might come as a surprise, that we are have no say over who's ultimately fired? ¶ ¶ and again, i bring up the fact that no one here on this side of the media trench has ever observed anything more than what's gone on: and by this, i contend, that many in the media have been as objective and subjective as professionally possible. ¶ and yet you demand the spanish inquisition to poke sticks and pins into this dead horse of a topic. this just in, the bills haven't made the playoffs for nine years, going on 10, which is tied with the lions. i know this, because i've written this about 10 times this fall already. ¶ ¶ oh, but you want pure, acidic criticism. well, the stuff that's been planted on this board, i think, is enough to fulfill those needs. is it not enough that some kids defaced Leodis McKelvin's front lawn to open the season. perhaps, we should all hold similar vigils at 52 other homes, or more depending on what front-office person belongs in the crosshairs. ¶ ¶ good god, you vigilantes are beyond reason and logic, some of whom base their obtuse points by proudly announcing they've live in many towns. well, good for you. so have i. the point escapes me, except to express that there is a transient nature among some of us. ¶ and yet, i am not the one who buys the tickets, picks up the latest starting qb's jersey, and supports this franchise with his/her wallet. my point is that there are some bigger suckers out there than i. ¶ but, of course, some questioned whether the people who paid for the billboard might have crossed some line. really? at least they put their money where there points were. and the media reported on it. ¶ ¶ the masses are dazed and crazed and confused, because some have gone back to reliving the good old days of Flutie-Johnson. wow. ¶ ¶ but, no, it's obviously, the media's fault, because we have been the ones throwing interceptions, giving up 300 yards rushing and essentially spending this entire decade pulling the rug out from under the team's playoff hopes. ¶ buffalo fans or buf-foons, i don't know. i can look in the mirror and know that i've done my job no matter what anyone says. i've reported what i know, and it hasn't been pretty, but it's been accurate and consistent. ¶ ¶ prove me wrong, Chimp. and don't suggest that i'm wasting my time on this board, when there are plenty of posters out there who have written differently and have my back. and i ain't going anywhere. ¶ ¶ jw ¶
  4. if that's the case, why did Perry and AVP consider him the No. 2 this past week, and why did AVP express his frustration by saying that Trent failed to make several plays? jw
  5. right, no "rat's ass" because the team's still here? wow, how illogical of you. jw
  6. now wait a minute? insulated from criticism? uh, when? how have i missed this mystical love-fest in which every reporter in town has been celebrating this season as something beyond what it has been: an absolute exercise in ineptitude from the get-go. and by the get-go, i mean raising questions in regards to the offense when the first-stringers failed to generate a touchdown this preseason. have there not been enough stories regarding the turmoil that's taken place. in fact, my piece to open the regular season began with the line of how the Bills have proven they're better at disrupting things on their own than T.O. has, or something to that effect. do you, perhaps, suffer from the condition the guy had in the movie, "Memento," where he couldn't remember things from one day to the next, and you are in need of a daily dose of stories in regards to the Bills problems? if so, there are a few posters on this board i could refer you to. but clearly, this business of the Bills getting off scott free is pure bunk. as for Whitner, the media didn't take his comments as gospel, but merely reported them. his inference was that Michael Vick is better than what the Bills have at QB now. now, a blind and happy media in which you refer to would have ignored these comments and not even reported them. and now you question why we reported them. there have been times i've noted the front office's poor track record, including their inconsistent draft picks et al. but, in the day-to-day covering this team, that doesn't need to be reflected in every story does it? jw
  7. hey, buddy, my face is up here. uhhh, too desperate, maybe? there, now time to tie my other shoe. help me find my ferret. quick, pull my finger. jw
  8. how 'bout i type slow-er? would that work? jw
  9. to please some posters on this board, i am going to write drivel. there, did it. jw
  10. can't see it. there was too much wrong with the team to begin with. Trent, Ryan, doesn't much matter to Mr. Wilson in my opinion at this point. he's washed his hands of this season and is blowing it all up, which might be something i brought up as a possibility two months ago on this board, but i can't seem to find it. jw
  11. to answer your question, there was no real player revolt, though it's evident from the comments made by several players that they weren't exactly in Trent's corner. does someone need to come out and say "Trent's bad," to convince you that his numbers and his performance haven't been particularly good. it's quite obvious what went down if you watch the games. Trent hasn't been very good. he had his chance to prove it, and the team has now lost confidence in him. no help that his biggest supporter, Dick Jauron, got fired this week. should i pull out the abacus to help through the math? jw
  12. dog, the person that brought T.O. in was Ralph Wilson. apparently, spartacus missed that one, too, because it was The AP that broke how that went down. and it was the LOCAL media that didn't fall for the Vick in Buffalo rumor in August, while most everyone else and his buddy on the national level ... and even on this board ... were falling over themselves in a bid to be the first, second and eighth one to get it wrong. what, we somehow missed the boat on Dick Jauron? no one ever mentioned he was on the hot seat? Sully, for one, hasn't been poking sticks at the franchise for its lack of direction? questions haven't been raised in regards to Trent's status as starter. heck, The AP started questioning him shortly after the New Orleans or Miami game, I believe. there hasn't been anything about turmoil on this team? well, i think it was pointed out in several stories and through several questions that Donte Whitner wasn't exactly elated with Edwards. Aaron Schobel didn't exactly provide everything's peachy-keen earlier this week. what WIVB reported about Dick being offered the chance to remain coach for the rest of the year is interesting. as for complaints about how no one's willing to talk to the Bills' front-office, the difficulty is getting someone in the front office to talk. and part of the reason for that is because Ralph Wilson is the one making most of the decisions. feh. jw
  13. and speaking of drivel ... jw
  14. um, with McGee unlikely to play, and Youboty out, Byrd nursing a groin injury and BScott likely to finish the season at LB, did you happen to notice that the Bills are suddenly down in the defensive backfield? no, guess not. jw
  15. but you'll still hand over the trophy, right? just not graciously. jw
  16. final version is now out: Wilson tells AP changes coming jw
  17. first off, that's per rotoworld per the AP story. second, that was Wilson's response to my question about his interest in Shanahan. and whomever at rotoworld re-wrote my story, that person included "stopping short of an outright denial." i considered his response to mean he knows nothing in regards to the Bills contacting Shanahan, for reasons I shall not get into beyond this. jw
  18. and that, Sysyphean, is i think something Mr. Wilson is finally considering to address. of course, time will tell, but after telling me last December that he's against bringing in an "outside guy" and "someone he doesn't know" because he felt betrayed by Donahoe, he said he's open to anything this offseason. jw
  19. there is a sense that everything is on the table, and that includes Perry Fewell. why tip your hand on potential candidates or what you might do now, when the whole landscape and conversation might change seven weeks from now? not saying Fewell is a front-runner, but what happens if team shows progress under him? jw and Chicago, no offense taken.
  20. thanks for support. not POed, though. i can appreciate how starting this thread and maybe one other last summer provides a tease factor. but just wanting to explain to the poster why i do it this way -- and i don't do it often. jw
  21. you should be aware that "the bastards" are the name of my fantasy hockey pool team, which is short of a Replacements' song, Bastards of Young, my favorite. i always appreciate being called that, in big letters no less. jw
