well, then: you're cleared. man-laws clearly draw the line at whether or not you have the poster pinned and/or purchased. i've got two Norah Jones cds, both purchased from the used bin, but still purchased. i like her work with the "Little Willies" best. not really a megadeath guy. jw i'm probably going to step on more toes here, but would it help if i used john mayer instead? -

dc, you rock. i owe you a drink. and i sincerely mean that. jw ADD: yours is an even-keeled argument that LA confused with talk about his college roommates. though i kind of, somewhat understood. and it's very possible LA, i just might be hitting your end of the country and we just might be able to sarah palin this whole thing. oh, sorry if i overstepped my exuberence and the drilling, baby, drilling part. sorry. unfair... -

again, thanks, all. with the shuffle on and 62 Drive By Truckers songs loaded on the ipod and a good supply of canadian whisky at hand, i've got the fixings of a good long night of punching at this keyboard to see if anything makes sense. and i'm not holding my breath because this business of writing's an inexact science at best, and chemistry was never my best subject. it's been a long life and a short one at that, so far, and those who haven't gotten this far along on the path might not understand, because 50's no longer a far-off figure, and it sure doesn't resemble a prime number, if you catch my drift. and Paul Westerberg might have put it best when he penned this lyric: "pacing in a cage and chasing middle age." the older i get the more that line slays me, because there's truth there. (and i appreciate the fact that someone here thought i was far younger. i haven't acted my age in years, hell, decades, and i don't plan to start now.) and at least i've got that working for me. i might not be hip to what the kids are listening to these days, or at least most kids, but i haven't stopped looking for the new big thing, and to me, it's the DBTs, as i've noted several times. and relevance is important to me, because i do now understand how The Who might not have realized what they meant when penning their famous lyric: "I hope I die before I get old." because as old as i might be getting, i ain't in a position to give up or start driving a minivan, or live in the cul-de sac suburbs, or go on on a cruise to be stuck on a boat with people i don't like. and if you don't like those terms, well, too freakin bad because i'm just not wired that way. and if you are, well, that's your problem, eh? and the pirate is my favorite symbol, because there's something about the eyepatch that's always caught my attention. though, in retrospect, they ran their own style of cruise ship for degenerates. y'arrh. the irony of it all. so what do i know. been called a clown and a liberal and wrong. and there's truth in that, too. there's something to imperfection. and if it takes 47 years to figure that out, then i might just be ahead of the game to get a chance to roll a few more times before crapping out. jw

thanks, but i stopped reading after the "clowns" reference. if you had any points to make after that, they were completely lost on me. please, enlighten us in this new-fangled way of making friends and winning arguments by disparaging those who might disagree with you, because i find it difficult to see how it works. generally, in the real world (the one beyond your sticky keyboard, next to the p and j sandwich your mommy made, and the poster of michael bubble you might have on your door -- hey, i'm guessing here), starting a conversation like that might lead to people turning up their noses to you or, in some cases, worse, especially if you were at a blue-collar place like the Swannie. but seeing that you're new here, i'd like to point out that i prefer to be called a degenerate or a bastard. i'm not the makeup wearing kind. jw -

never called you anything. if that's what you inferred, then go with it, because it's becoming quite apparent that i'm the dumbass for continuing this discussion with someone who is impenetrable to reason or shame. jw -

no, i'm sticking to the fact that your responses have been childlike, immature, rude, and add no value to this thread or board. and you've done nothing so far to prove that to be wrong. i'll type slower if you can't keep up. jw -

mean and way too rude, from someone who apparently has never made a mistake in his life. there's always someone who plays that card, and i find it ugly, without any redeeming value and childish. and, to top it off, you call people names. you have no shame. jw -

that's fine. and that's your right, JohnC. i learned last year not to get drawn in too far into discussions regarding Ralph Wilson, because the points i make about him seem to be taken out of context from what i'm actually trying to say. there's a lot of blind passion raging against Mr. Wilson. and while he is open to criticism, i find that many seem to take it far too personally. the trouble, in the end, is that Mr. Wilson's tenure as owner is a mixed bag. for those who don't like him, seem to overlook the fact that he's not relocated the franchise, and yet call him a money-grubber. for those who question his commitment to winning, well, that's somewhat open to debate based on my conversations with him. but i'll not get into that because that's an argument not worth fighting, and i'll leave people to their grudges (and i know i'm going to catch heat for that one). in the end, if people don't like Mr. Wilson and want to send him a message, don't support the team. don't buy season tickets. Mr. Wilson is sensitive to the team's fans. and an empty Ralph Wilson Stadium would send a clear message. the fact that that's not happened leads me to believe that the fans of this team are overly loyal, blind or as apathetic as they claim Mr. Wilson to be. jw -

in fear of repeating myself: let me repeat myself jw ADD: i am sticking to my criticism with the poster, whose comments i criticized. i will not get into a debate over hypothetics and other things. my issue was with the poster and his obtuse points. -
just OK? nick, what do you think? jw

sorry, Beerball. if Gervais is involved, that likely means his writing partner Stephen Merchant gets the agent's role, though it will be a bit of a reprise of his role in Extras. we'll have to see about that. speaking of Extras, though, we'll need a bunch of unruly, crybaby kids for the day-care scenes where we might be able to fit you in as a regular. jw
