Report: No Football ops changes expected with Bills
jester43 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He "will" evaluate? What's been going on for the last two months? I'll say it again. These are wonderful people, but they are naive. They didn't do anything about Darcy until they were a laughingstock. Is it that hard to imagine them being schmoozed by Russ into giving everyone another year? Not for me. -

IF THIS IS TRUE... I said all along there was no reason to think they'd come in and start swinging the axe...anyone who thinks otherwise must pay no attention to the Sabres. The way Russ has been strutting around opining about play calling and culture? You figured he knew something we didn't. If he was wondering whether he had a job he'd have kept his mouth shut. Yet,. he was popping off like the Pegulas were already in his back pocket- which is very easy to believe. I just hope it's bad info. Problem ism, Graham usually gets it right -

I hope Coughlin's gets fired so the Bills can get him.

I was laughed at around here for posting BRING ME COUGHLIN when the Bills were looking for a coach in 04. Instead we got Mularkey. That said, I'd say he might not be the guy ths time around. Always thought the guy was a great coach and underappreciated. I hope he gets into the Hall. In fact he had better. his career stats are almost the same as Marv's and he has two of the most satisfying super bowl wins ever. Just watch this and remember how great it felt when Brady got pancaked on that last drive: that's exactly what our living room sounded like and there was not 1 giants fan n the house! COUGHLIN....HALL OF FAME. -
Anyone else sick of Eric Wood?
jester43 replied to GrizzlyAdams's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i said it elsewhere....everyone on the offense worse this year. i can't imagine they all are worse players than last year. that's coaching. whatever his faults, wood's one of our better players. -
he was born 2 weeks before my dad and lasted 8 months longer. both smokers, both died of lung cancer. joe quit years ago but the damage was done... don't light up kids, it hurts when you go to soon.

I can only assume the people who claim the Pegula's ARE NOT GONNA STAND FOR ALL THIS MEDIOCRITY! ( ) are not Sabre fans. They were just fine with it before until Mr. Terry "what-has-he-done-wrong" Pegula was a laughingstock throughout the NHL. He literally stood fast until there was no other option other than Darcy HAD to go. To his credit, he seems to have found someone capable of making the organization respectable again. But you can make a case that it never should have gotten that point. The Pegulas are great people, but to me they still seem a little naive. I think Russ Brandon agrees, given that he has the balls to go out publicly politicking for Marrone and, by extension, himself. I couldn't see him doing that if he didn't think he had them in the palm of his hand. I agree that yesterday's loss is a blessing in disguise. If the Bills would have snuck in the way the Sabres did in 2011, the Pegulas would have no doubt been impressed. It would have guaranteed the regime stayed intact, flawed as it is. If they HAD made it in, the Bills, as they are constructed, looked for all the world like a 6 seed that goes on to finish 5-11 the next year. If nothing else, we've been pretty lucky with injuries and that alone could have turned this into a 5 win team very easily. Did yesterday not prove that? Marrone has his charms, and as much wasted fun as I've had playing the Marrone drinking game, the way that every single offensive player has REGRESSED on his watch says we need a new coaching staff, loud and clear. (What...you don't know the Doug Marrone drinking game?! When the press conference starts, one of you has "you know" and the other has "obviously." Last one standing wins. Good times. ) But slick Russ is banking on them not realizing how bad it is. I only hope whoever they have coming in to advise them (if that story is even true) is not also not trying to win the Super Bowl usiing the 75 Steelers as a blue print. -
yeah really....just WAIT till a competent offensive coaching staff gets hold of that guy.

Once again, can someone tell me why we let Chad Rinehart walk? He was better than any guard on our roster and most of the tackles. -

Russ Brandon: "Marrone Has Changed the Bills' Culture"
jester43 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yeah their agenda is to bring up the same topics that we kick around here and on the radio. why do you get to decide if the "angle was valid?" i don't hear many questions asked that i'm not curious to hear the answer to. yes, that's gonna make people uncomfortable sometimes. but they're big boys. kyle williams is paid very well to cope with all these hidden agendas and it seems like he is up to the task. that doesn't mean i don't want him asked about how it feels to play on the best defense with a horrible offense and coach who thinks it's 1986. you guys that cry about the media all day long are the ones who give them so much power ...and waaaay overstate their influence. what do you want...hockey hotline and the john murphy show?? that is the crap that is impossible to listen to. unicorns and rainbows. -

Russ Brandon: "Marrone Has Changed the Bills' Culture"
jester43 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
lol....and everyone knows when those meany sportswriters start coming in with their meany questions (which they always ask in the MEANEST ways!)...the last best refuge is the John Murphy show. State-run radio for Pollyannas! -
Conte's logic is a bit chilling, but understandable...at least in the context of a young man with the superpowers to pley pro football. I'm also willing to bet the future for this generation of players is a whole lot brighter than for the guys who played in the 70s-90s...there will still be plenty of problems, but prevention and treatment will get better, and that will help.

Russ Brandon: "Marrone Has Changed the Bills' Culture"
jester43 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
if they were creative enough on offense to make orton look competent (which I believe is possible) and kept playing the kind of defense we've seen this month, then yes, actually. but the lack of creativity I blame on Marrone. When I saw how the vaunted combo of Jay Gruden and Colt McCoy completely befuddled the Dallas defense i realized how bad our offensive coaching is. -
Russ Brandon: "Marrone Has Changed the Bills' Culture"
jester43 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The problem with this whole thread is that Russ Brandon defending Marrone by saying he "changed the culture" is a straw man argument. And how convenient that, win or lose, Russ now cites a "changed culture" and a need for "continuity" since his football ops ass is on the line with Marrone. When the season started it was "playoffs or bust." Now it's "culture and continuity." DOES ANYONE ELSE SMELL THE BULLSCHIDT? You know he does not just want to be a marketer for the Bills. He wants more chest bumps with Sammy on game day and more fist pumping in the war room on draft day. That's his real agenda. The real question is, has Marrone done enough to be retained? Most of us think we know, but I'd say pretty much everyone wants to see the last 2 games before deciding. In the meantime, I've seen plenty of decisions from the dark ages, and barring a stirring win in New England, I'd say the Bills can and should try to do better. The problem is, we've seen so much garbage in the last 15 years that 8-6 makes it look like St. Doug really is roaming the sidelines. And Russ, whose culture did he change, exactly? I remember when you were the GM...that was some culture we had then, wasn't it? Brandon the football guy is the problem and a snake in the grass. When he talks "culture" he's politicking for his own ass. Is that not obvious? Just stick to selling tickets Russ. You did a great job finding 30000 Green Bay fans to sell the game out last weekend.
