I don't think he turned those guys into elite players. I think they just happen to be elite players who benefited from good game planning. Schwartz & Pettine. Sometimes good coaching is knowing when to get out of the way. After that incident I don't trust his judgment.
-
Might not be an argument if his all best players had been on the field in that game.
-
Is this the same Pepper Johnson that decided it would be a smart idea to bench Jerry Hughes for half a game with our season on the line? The Jets can have him.

I always thought Ralph's evil beancounters were Littman and Overdorf, only. Littman is gone. I don't know why Overdorf is there, but it would certainly wipe some of the stink of relentless failure off if he left. Who else is there? Berchtold? He is in media relations and it doesn't sound like his opinion of Bill Polian would matter much to anyone...including Bill Polian. Russ? Russ never worked with him. I'd be interested to know who else around there even got to work with Polian. He's been gone 21 years! So it was either Overdorf sabotaging him, which seems plausible, or......???????

yeah a different era where they ran more! Their career receiving numbers are almost identical. You don't think Davis might have taken a couple to the house if he had returned punts and kicks?
-
Didn't keep Gale Sayers out. Actually Sayers had 5 good years. But he also topped out at 1200 yds in his best good season....not 2000.

Terrible analogy. GWB shouldn't be removed from a list of people who served as President any more than OJ should be excluded from a list of players who played for the Bills, set a rushing record, wore #32, etc. etc. The question is whether he should be SPECIALLY HONORED by the team. I say he's brought shame and dishonor to the franchise and should be taken down.

really! it's almost as though people are worrying about some sort of slippery-slope: "GEEZ, if we take is name down just because he murdered two people AFTER he played, then we're gonna have to scrutinize EVERYONE!" What if Lee Harvey Oswald had been a Bills DB who retired with the career interception record before he shot Kennedy? Would you want to see his name up there? What if Mark David Chapman was a perennial All-Pro Bills tight end and beloved team captain before he murdered John Lennon? Would you want to see his name up there? It's disgusting to me that what he did as a player could be more important to some Bills fans than those two people he slaughtered. Somehow because it's the Bills we want to forget what he did and just remember the good times. And I saw plenty his games in person. If you want to talk about what kind of player he was, I'll argue all day he was one of the 3 or 4 best of all time. But i don't want him honored in our stadium because he is a flat-out despicable sociopathic murderer.

Jerome Bettis Terrell Davis Jimmy Johnson Orlando Pace Bill Polian Junior Seau Kurt Warner not that they';d all get in at once, but these are the guys i think deserve it

COMMUNITY STANDARDS? it was shoplifting. it wasn't dui. it wasn't real estate fraud. he butchered 2 innocent people. good god. brilliant! i bet you are a good salesman!
-
It's beyond sad...it is a complete horror. he willfully murdered 2 innocent people. he does not deserve recognition as a team hero when he is, in fact, a disgrace and embarrassment to the Bills.
-
John, I'm wondering...if your son's throat was cut by someone who was really good at their old job, would you think the saddest thing about it was that his murderer "screwed up?"
-
yes, liable in the sense that DNA evidence indicates he sliced two people to ribbons with a huge knife and tracked their blood all over hell's half-acre. that's not the same as saying he is "guilty" of slicing two people to ribbons with a huge knife and tracking their blood around- and we need to make that distinction when we're talking about something important like the wall of fame.

Unhappy 15th anniversary of the Music City Miracle
jester43 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
nothing to remarkable but i do remember it clearly. I was at my then-girlfriend's apt. God bless her she got seriously into the Bills really fast after having never paid attention to football in her life. After that last field goal she's like "we got'em now, right?!" I said "well, we still gotta cover this kick..." un!@#$ingbelievable. that was a good team too. My favorite Bills defense of all time. -
Joe B just lost all credibility, Part II
jester43 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
we all have biased views....they are called "opinions." -
I'm with you! Sad that our greatest player is a degenerate and a sociopath, but I can't stand seeing his name up there. He is in jail for armed robbery and kidnapping and should have been convicted of murder if not for a crooked jury. Why should we continue to honor him?

it's no worse an idea than tying up a roster spot on an extra kicker, for god's sakes.

Wow, I couldn't wait to log on and see the hissy fit over this column and I sure wasn't disappointed. Another great 8th-grade-girls-cafeteria-table moment brought to you by the koolaid drinkers at TBD. Sullivan is 100% right -they should have lined up some expertise immediately upon learning their bid was accepted...did they learn nothing from the Sabres debacle? Now the braintrust who frittered away next year's number #1 and left EJ as our best option at QB are leading a coaching search, but the successful candidate will report the the ...owner? To say it looks a little messy is putting it politely. I will say Sully picked a bad time to flat-out TROLL his haters after his stupid tweeting yesterday regarding Sammy. And I disagree completely that Polian is so damn irreplacable that they should have moved heaven and earth to get him here. But I don't know how you can argue that the Pegulas haven't already messed up. They better just hope that whoever they land to coach this team can get something out of EJ and manages the roster better than Marrone. If they can do that, all this "controversy" just dissolves away. But they're going to have to get lucky. If they just go out and hire Frank Reich because he is a hero here and fine christian, then we'll know we're in trouble. They seem to be driven more by nostalgia than good judgment.

Could Larry Fitzgerald land inNew England?
jester43 replied to Franchiseneedsme's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've said it before... It is mind-boggling what the Patriots do on offense with the utter garbage they field at WR. Fitzgerald has enty left in the tank and it would not be pretty for the Bills if he wound up in NE. He's certainly better than anyone they have there now. We'd be left praying for Brady to hit the wall. -

[closed]What if Marrone doesn't get hired?
jester43 replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My worry is that teams will slow down and think this all through...and then not hire him. See, I REALLY want him to get the Jets job. That he is any sort of "hot" candidate shows how little the rest of the league thinks of Buffalo. This is one time I hope that perception persists.
