after reading this post i am surprised i didn't think of it sooner, as we cover this in my health class every year. it does sound exactly like west nile virus. i was also thinking lyme disease, but the symptoms sound m ore like WNV.

the article said there are no openly gay pro athletes- man i wish some of these guys would start coming out so our culture could start getting over itself about this issue. that's probably asking too much though... -
you are right about that...if any pro athletes are underpaid, it is nfl guys. the abuse they put themselves through is obscene. but having said that, t.o. is a gaping a-hole and a stupid one to boot. if he wasn't such a jerk he could market himself the way mcnab does and make tons with endorsements. i still marvel at his performance in the superbowl however. he was so much better than mcnab it was hilarious.

for what it's worth and who cares if there are gay guys on the bills? -
yo nick...i just got back from EnZed. tried like hell to figure out what was going on in the cricket game/match/test or whatever you call it...but i just couldn't. my buddy down there who taught me the basics of rugby (which friggin RULES by the way- GO ALL BLACKS!!) just couldn't bash cricket through my thick skull.

Why do we all care what others think?

i agree 100%. it is ridiculous how worked up people get over pre-season predictions. -
these people are right. if you really lost that much weight, you are SEVERLY dehydrated. even healthy, you could only metabolize enough energy to lose 5 lbs or so since sunday, so the rest must be water. drink some gatorade and go to the hospital!!

on air new zealand last week i got real silverware- and glasses and bottles for drinking wine, and the people that worked on the flight were actually nice to the passengers...

keeps the tires from spinning out of control when they romp on the gas at the start of the race...they do standing starts in f1. i hate launch control.
-
have you been watching the races this year? the rules state they have to use the same set of tires all weekend...only exception is if the tire is damaged: then they may change them for "safety reasons." while they might have been allowed to run that way this weekend under the current rules(pitting every 10 laps for tires), it is untrue to say they change tires all the time...not this year they don't.

i was really bummed that the race was not televised here in new zealand, and i was a little surprised, to say the least, when i read what happened. the story did get some coverage on the national sportscast, and the look on bernie's face when he realized what happening was priceless: he was standing there in that crazy toupee like "WHA- WHA- WHAAAAT??!?!" ! (on a happier note, sky sports not only shows all the nextel cup races live, but they are also COMMERCIAL FREE with in car audio/video feeds through each break. it rules.) but after what happened to ralf in practice, i am glad michelin had the stones to say they f'd up and the tires were unsafe- they may have saved someone's life. of course it is their fault for engineering a defective tire and not figuring it out until it was too late to do anything about it. i'm not sure fia is to blame here, except for the fact that they are the ones who came up with this idiotic tire rule in the first place. imo, it indirectly led to this mess because requires manufacturers to gamble too much in construction to make fast-yet-durable tires, and then puts the drivers in a very unsafe situation if there is a problem during the race. kimi's wreck on the flat-spotted tire is a perfect example. sure, he could have pitted to change it, but he would ave had to TRUST the official not to penalize him. and as bills fans know, when you have to put your into the hands of an official, bad things happen. the thing fia should NOT have done is change the rules before the race. it's funny, i never root for ferrari(for the uninformed, it is like rooting for the yankees), but it is obvious that 90% of the rule changes in the past 3 years have been to slow them down...well i'd say this one bit them in the ass, didn't it?

all i can say is that i think she is breathtaking.

we already looked into the allblacks...and, son of a B word, they are SOLD OUT! i wonder if it's like going to a bills game where NO MATTER WHAT there is always a ticket to be had at a reasonable price....somehow i doubt it. and yes aussie, i keep hearing that i "may never come back" ...oh well!

i know...that's not funny....but i am going to new zealand on wednesday. staying for a 1 month. i have a friend with a car so we have a little mobility. she lives in tauranga, which is on the north island, right on the ocean. i have heard all thespectacular scenery is in the south, so we are planning to spend about 2 weeks there. anyone have any advice on cool stuff to do there?
-
for once i am going to take care of this stuff before the last minute. and crazy or not, i always get great gift ideas here. so fire away..what are you getting him?

this is thefirst time i have clicke don this thread i swear...damn you TD for making me go out and get so riped thati sang "folsom prison " on karoaoke tonight...although it did save me a ?$30 bar tab... but whatever....i hat e you TD... -
f.u. i am as liberal as they come and i don't think they should have done that. don't stereotype people.

see that's thing about all this...at the end of the day, !@#$ or not, that cop just wants to go home in one piece and i can't begrudge him that. that's why he gets to taze the B word if she goes out of her way to give him trouble. i've certainly encountered enough bully cops to know what thugs they can be, but by the same token, if you're not being a thug you deserve the benefit of the doubt- as was the case here. truth be told, i was not able to un-learn my hatred of cops until i became an authority figure (however modest) and a public servant of sorts myself. the light bulb finally went on over my head when i got sick of being characterized with all the negative sterotypes that bad teachers bring to our profession. it's the same with cops.
-
teachers too. everyone thinks that because they went to school and pay their taxes, they know exactly what is wrong with public education. of course now that i think about it, you can include almost everyone's line of work...it seems like whatever you do, there's some a-hole out there who thinks they know your job better than you do . (TD, i know you're reading this...go ahead and laugh!) btw...i support the cops actions because even though it sounds like the worst cruelest thing, the taser is least violent way to apprehend someonee..less chance of hurting her that way, then by yanking her kicking and screaming from the car.

how did you do that?
