There is never a good time to start playing JP
jester43 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
yes, this is an excellent point...other than a case of happy feet early this season, he has been solid, and only figures to get better. imo, his biggest liability is that he needs to grow up a little, but whatever. he has that in common with half the league i suppose... -

your points are well taken, but MDH was right. last night was absurd. suzy kolber was the worst- i never could stand her, but last night i wanted to throw stuff at the tv whrn she was on. even my buddy- who likes dallas and could not care less if we win or lose- thought the whole espn crew was ridiculous. -

disgraceful. -
UNBELIEVABLE. just move this team to los angeles.
-
yes it is, but i am too incredulous at the thought of us potentially winning to really worry about it right now.
-
WHO ARE THESE GUYS, AND WHAT HAVE THEY DONE WITH THE BUFFALO BILLS?!?!?!
-
holy crap we look good.
-
yeah but look at the bright side: our first 2-point converstion!

our women are currently ranked 7th in D3. we won our conference meet today and broke our own record for best score at the conference championship meet...we went 1-2-3-5-7 for an 18 point total. our men were 2nd in the same meet. they're not a dominant team like the women are this year, but they turned in a solid performance, and we were very proud of them, nonetheless. thanks for asking! as far as TDis concerned, the stuff you mention is only a small part of the problem. i agree with the poster who said we were sort of stuck with williams' salary. but the bottom line is, if you are going to build a perrennial contender, you need to do it in the mid to late rounds anyway. in today's NFL, you MUST find guys who are solid pros and not stiffs. look at all the #2 and #3 round guys we have on our DL, and how BAD it is! i am not saying it's necessarily easy to do, but donohoe has not drafted enough good guys to make this a contending team. after five years, i think he's proven he's not the man for the job.
-
good point. the salaries per se are not the problem. the problem is that donohoe can't stock a roster for any amount of money. he's really good at cutting guys we can't afford. he's proven this repeatedly over the past 5 years. but he is not capable of replacing them with enough good players to turn this franchiseinto a winner. that's why we're screwed till he gets fired.
-
i look at that list and i have to laugh my ass off at the fact that GANDY is the only guy on that line who is earning his salary . actually, i am only laughing because there is no "sobbing uncontrollably" smiley.

dude, i am right there with you. and i have been following the team for 35 years now. i used to bill myself as an unabashed homer. now i just feel used up and ripped off. and i have never felt that way before when were losing. not even in the horrendous pre-kelly years. the rest of my life is just fine, thank you, but these guys, especially donohoe, certainly are killing my interest in football.

what this team needs is to shake things up. peters at qb is a great start. moorman is a multi-time ncaa champion hurdler- i think he should be returning kicks. after all why risk our best corner on kick returns?! and should we really risk nate clements' $18million signing bonus by sending him out for punt returns?? moorman only plays half a dozen plays a game, he'll have enough energy left for it. mike williams should play fullback a la the fridge. but then we can fake everyone out and hand it to him at the goal line. starting this sunday. the pats will never suspect it. everyone knows wire was a great linebacker at stanford- put him back in at inside lb and let our speedy "tackle machine" london fletcher play safety. sorry milloy, you're too slow for the "new look" bills. finally, now that rian lindell has some strength in his leg, he should be sent out onto the field to stick his foot up the ass of each defensive lineman after each play where an opponent runs the ball for more than 10 yards on us. finally, TD should be fired immediately and rtconner should be made GM. he would make sweet draft picks.

Did VT/UF hire JP-era to design their jerseys?
jester43 replied to Ramius's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
their colors are atrocious to begin with. the only the missing from those uniforms is the floppy shoes and the frightwig. -
i don't think the point with pat is whether we should have kept him- there is no way we should have at the price he commanded- but how we've replaced him. or, more appropriately, how we haven't replaced him. if donohoe knew how to stock a roster, we wouldn't be worrying about it. maybe tim anderson will turn out to be a great defensive tackle, but the bottom line is that after 5 years, we should be able to absorb the loss of pat williams to free agency. that notwithstanding, your points about our 3rd down defense are right on. people have figured out gray's defense is smoke and mirrors, and have figured out how to attack it. so now that changes are necessary, we don't have the personnel to do it.
-
yeah i remember. i guess i am just looking for SOME indication that he's more worried about the first 31 points than the last 7. ...unless he already realizes this team is beyond hope, and there's no point in telling the truth about them in public .

even if NORV brought it up, he should say: "well, i appreciate the sentiment, but i have a lot bigger problems than that right now." how hard is that? it doesn't matter how you slice it, he should be ashamed to mention/discuss/cry about that last touchdown, when we were so outclassed on defense. look at it this way: if you're norv, what is the reason you DON'T score that last TD? why is everyone taught that is a bad thing? it is because you don't want to "humiliate" an inferior opponent, one whom you've obviously outclassed. right? so if that's true, the only reason to be offended by such an act, is if you TRULY ARE outclassed and humiliated- otherwise, the TD becomes nothing more than an exclamation point at the end of a hard-fought battle, one that was presumably closer than the score. this is not st. agnes of long island beating cuba by 100 points in the super 16, this is the NFL. there is no reason for the raiders not to score. there is every reseon for the bills, UNLESS they are cuba to oakland's st. agnes, to just toughen up and stop them! and if they can't do that, then THAT is what is wrong! and mularkey should be honest enough with us (not to menstion himself and his players) to say so. man campy, i love ya brother, but you sound exactly like me before i finally realized what a caved-in house of cards this franchise truly is.

Here is the problem that I have with
jester43 replied to Nick in RaChaCha's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
he was last year, and i didn't agree with it then. he relies too much on GIMMICKS and not just guys beating the dude across from them. wouldn't you think THE BEST DEFENSE EVER (SARCASM) could just maybe line up and beat guys one-on-one occasionally? then our TACKLING MACHINE LINEBACKER (SARCASM) london fletcher could just run around stopping guys for one yard gains all day long. this is how the 99-00 defense did it- remember those guys? now that defense was actually worth discussing in the context of great defenses...they were only 1 or 2 guys in the secondary (not to mention a few special teamers and one QB)away from being LEGENDARY (no sarcasm) because that was a super bowl defense. i wonder if gray has ever watched tapes of those guys??
