What Free Agents would my fellow experts choose?
jester43 replied to 2003's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
as far as rookies go, kiwaukee's hanging in there. as far as the beast is concerned, i believe the term is a reference to the ****-lousy hangovers that stuff produces...pleasant my ass... -
i'm sort of disapointed there's not a wikipedia page for pinto kenny...i hope one of you locals will take care of that soon.
-
...call me a homo if you want...i don't care....i hate it when my teams look stupid on the field.
-
well, good. then !@#$ him too. whoever he is...

i know...and i feel like i've paid my dues

BUT, they were intended to be worn as either a blue jersey and white pants or vice versa...it wasn't until the 2nd year that they started wearing all blue and and/or all white. and when they wear the single colors, the stripes on the side are mismatched anyway. the whole thing is a big cluster!@#$ and needs to be replaced. they just look ridiculous.

they could start by buying up the tickets...

please give us the throwbacks next year!

A few thoughts from the game

the key to mcgahee's game was that the temp at kcikoff was 55....nuf said. -
you mean....manGINA!?! HAHAHA....SUCK IT MANGINA!!

i would not say he's a TERRIBLE blocker. i've seen him do a great job on blitz pick-up on many occasions. the problem is you can't count on him to show up week in and week out. when he plays HARD he is an excellent back. much better than thomas. he just doen't always play hard. that's sort of a problem, eh? you hit the nail on the head when you say "The instant Travis left town was when he started his decline..." i'm not slamming the door on him yet but i'm sure he's on thin ice with dick and marv. but i think it's dumb to cut him loose before next season. considering it's his contract year it will probably be the best year he'll ever have as a pro. let him run for 1500 yards next year and THEN let someone else overpay for him.

Yet Another Post About Jason Peters
jester43 replied to Bill from NYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I realize we are in a jam at the linebacker position, but if we franchise Fletcher, he will immediately join the ranks of the most OVERPAID players in the league. I really hope it doesn't come to that. -
i have to give you credit right now for telling me in December of his rookie year that williams will be a bust.
-
i just don't see why he gets so much credit for NOT effing up on SOME of the picks...I think 80% of the people here could have managed that. But as a body of work, his job here SUCKED. There is NO way around it!
-
so we've gone from "awful" to "almost mediocre" using 16 of his players and now we're supposed to be grateful? That is so freaking stupid it's almost obscene. So I suppose when we go from "almost mediocre" to "slightly bettter than average" next year with 10 of his guys, they'll want us to build a !@#$ing statue of him outside the stadium?

hey boys, i think willis doesn't like the COLD.

Worried About our Long Term Future With Jauron
jester43 replied to JDG's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
you're right, that's brutal. but my beef with that whole series is the fact prior to the punt, we got the ball with 2:45 in the half ...and exactly 1 yard of rushing to our credit...yet jauron chose to run willis right up the middle 3 times. as though we could just run the clock out or something. first of all, WHY did he think we'd be able to do that, and 2nd, WHY DID HE WANT TO?! We had a legitimate chance to run a 2-minute drill and get some points! I think if Losman has proven anything over the last month it is that he deserves a chance to make something happen in these sorts of scenarios. it's just infuriating to me, because Jauron would have NEVER chosen to do that if, for example, we needed to drive into field goal position in the 4th qtr to tie the game. He would have had them run no-huddle...something where they had a realistic chance to move the ball. This may or may not have worked in the 2nd quarter Sunday, but how much worse could it have been than 3 straight dive plays? Honestly, at that point of the game, why would you try running up the middle 3 plays in a row if you were actually trying to put points on the board? give up? I'll tell you why...BECAUSE HE WASN'T TRYING TO SCORE. he was playing that kitty old-fashioned "safety-first" type of football the gets you beat in todays game. he was playing "not to lose," which is exactly how losers play. If you can't trust losman to engineer a drive late in the half to capitolze on the momentum from a nice defensive stand, then why the hell is he your QB? So 1:40 and 3 plays after getting the ball at our 2, we are punt formation...you are right about the screwed up clock management, and that was just icing on the cake. -
hey...thanks!

THANK YOU. spikes WAS a very good player until his injury last season. yesterday was his first "average" day since then...maybe he'll get the old form back? maybe. Crowell? not a stud yet, but still improving. You can at least hope he can take it to another level next year. That brings me to London Fletcher. <sigh.... > I hate to say this, because I am convinced the guy has the heart of a lion, but I have always believed we'd never win a playoff game with fletcher as our mlb. He's just too SMALL to provide the run support we need up front. MAYBE if we had a tandem equivalent to ted washington and pat williams up front tying up 3-4 guys on every play, Fletcher could be somewhat of a force running wild and making the tackle on every play. But with the guys he has in front of him, he is just not adequate as a starting mlb. our run defense is embarrassing. it's so bad, i don't know how you can consider ANYONE'S job safe for next season. Fletcher is the kind of guy you love to root for, but i just don't see him as the kind player we need to stop the run.

I haven't seen anyone comment on this yet

i don't think i've ever disagreed with the dingo...but here goes: you can't use it all day long, but you have to have it in your arsenal...for example, we could have used a couple of quick hits when we got the ball back on our 2 yard line with 2:45 to go. as it was, it took us all of 1:40 to go 3 and out and we were one schitty punt away from the chargers next score. i think a quick dose of no-huddle could have gotten us out of trouble in that instance...at least given us enough breathing room so that last TD could have been avoided. i was astonished when they just sent willis up the middle 3 times. it was a classic case of playing not to lose...and you could argue it cost us the game. -
exactly...it was the stupidest thing i saw all day.

Crazy betting story from yesterdays game

holy crap! $3400! i wish i was on yuor xmas shopping list! -
he definitely comes across as a prima donna. when i first saw him interviewed, i thought "they unloaded brees (who i have alsways liked)for the THIS douchebag?" obviously he is playing well enough to justify the decision, but i will be happy when he hits his own little sophomore slump like brees did... and you know it's coming.
