  1. Today is the day Buffalo was awarded AFL franchise. Caused much joy and misery. "Ralph Wilson, who owned a minority interest in the NFL's Detroit Lions at the time, initially announced he was placing a team in Miami, but like the Seattle situation, was also rebuffed by local ownership; given five other choices, Wilson negotiated with McGroder and brought the team that would become the Bills to Buffalo. Buffalo was officially awarded its franchise on October 28. During a league meeting on November 22, a 10-man ownership group from Boston (led by Billy Sullivan) was awarded the AFL's eighth team.[10] On November 30, 1959, Joe Foss, a World War II Marine fighter ace and former governor of South Dakota, was named the AFL's first commissioner. Foss commissioned a friend of Harry Wismer's to develop the AFL's eagle-on-football logo. Hunt was elected President of the AFL on January 26, 1960."
  2. I thought the same. I have been a big EJ supporter, but he is a back up QB at best. It's Taylor's job.
  3. Yes a coach does matter and Rex Ryan is not a good one. His team is undisaplined and the only thing confused by his defense is his defense.
  4. Didn't they convert him to tackle? Or am I thinking of someone else?
  5. Or the coaches and Whaley decided Cassel wasn't worth a roster spot.
  6. So I'm confused, wasn't Cassel cut to get down to 53? Are those cuts made by the GM or HC? In this instance hopefully it was both, because if this was just Whaley then the organization is disfunctional. Which means this team is going nowhere. Is it possible that they traded for Cassel, coaches and GM decided he wasn't worth the money, so he gets cut. Nobody picks him up, you bring him back for the minimum. You make Cassel second string, wait until somebody has QB problem and you trade him to get back something.
  7. You make MDH's point. All things being equal one guy is at the beginning of his career the other the end. Why is it even a question who you keep?
  8. Will they both be back? And what's McCoy's ETA?
  9. The Pegulas need to have a conversation with Ryan about getting control of the team. While I'm on Ryan, Jim Schwartz is a better defensive coach. The penalties on the two called back TDs were not penalties. Urbik called the penalty on himself by putting his hands up. Incognito was above the waist, not a chop block. It should not have come down to this however. Bills beat themselves, all three phases were bad as was the coaching.
  10. Taylor has been great and fun to watch. The offense as a whole has been much better. A lot of the improvement is attributable to Taylor, but the offense is way less predictable. The coaching has been outstanding, it's success is a further indictment of the ineptitude of Marrone and Hackett. That being said, I don't think the defenses the Bills have faced are particularly stellar. I also think the more film there is on Taylor and our offense there will be better game planning by competent D coordinators. This is however a two way street, these players and coaches should be able to over come that. This is going to be fun.
  11. I know it's an away game for the Bills but either the Jets or Phins are losing a home game.
  12. Fish So the Bills, Jets and Dolphins all have to go play in London, but Patriots no? Interesting
  13. For exactly what happened. Maybe they tried to trade him before the season, had no takers, weren't going to take cap hit. Cut him, bring him back. People get hurt, trade him.
  14. Whaley tried to bring in Pope Francis for a try out, " I think if we could sign him we might have a prayer of winning the AFC East".
  15. How about 300 pound linemen dropping into coverage. I don't believe I've ever seen anything like what happened. Did they not see that it was not working?
