The 53 Year Anniversary Bills Wall of Shame Awards
chris heff replied to Meathead's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your wrong right out of the box! in 1968 Ed Rutkowski started three games at QB. 100 attempts 41 completions for 380 yards 0 TD and 6 Int. rating 27.1 http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/R/RutkEd00.htm Nope Booth Lustig. Fans beat him up for missing a FG. -
Can We Get Rid Of Aaron Williams Quick Enough?
chris heff replied to BuffBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe we should see what he looks like in a defense that wasn't designed in 1989. -
Bills should trade for Josh Freeman of the Bucs

All were Super Bowl winners. -
This has nothing to do with what the base defense will be, I'm just curious. Does Pettine coach from the box or on the sideline?

Buddy Nix and addressing the QB position
chris heff replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nix's plan B was Young and then Jackson and that was not until year three on the job. These guys had proven not to be franchise QBs. Thigpen, Smith and Brown aren't even in the conversation. Are you telling me that it would not have been prudent to draft one or two QBs in mid to later rounds? -
Correct a policy of appeasement, and he's my favorite Neville Brother.

I could go back to Buster Ramsey and express an opinion on every hire since. The Bills have had three good coaches, Saban, Knox, Levy and only one ever won championships. Knox was really the only big name the Bills ever hired. The common denominator for all but three hires, Williams, Mularkey, and Marrone, is Ralph Wilson. Apparently the only coach that got along with Ralph was Levy. Saban quit twice and Wilson let Knox leave for Seattle. When Ralph gave full controll to Tom Donahoe, Donahoe hired guys that were not on anybody's radar. After losing a power struggle in Pittsburg he was never going to lose power to a coach again. So the Bils get Williams and Mularkey, guys beholding to Donahoe. Say what you will, be skeptical, be pessimistic, but this is not the same old same old. If the Bills kept to their MO it would be Whiisenhunt or Smith. I have no idea whether Marrone will be successful. I do know that this decision was made by a different team of people. I don't believe, and this is conjecture on my part, that this was a Nix hire. I don't think Buddy knows that the play football in Central NY any more than he knows they play football in Nevada (thing about it). I was intrigued by Chip Kelly but after his behavior I think he will be back coaching college on two years. I am encouraged by the hiring of Marrone because it is outside the box. I choose to be an optimist in this and in all things, I find pessimism to be a waste of time. Go Bills

Brady gets special treatment. It was obvious yesterday. Remember the game against the Bills a few years ago when Brady threw an interception, he was half heatedly running toward the interceptor, when one of the Bills blocked him by pushing him on the shoulder. Result was roughness penalty.

Article 1: Prohibited Acts. There shall be no unsportsmanlike conduct. This applies to any act which is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship. Such acts specifically include, among others: (a) Throwing a punch, or a forearm, or kicking at an opponent, even though no contact is made. Maybe my first post including all "Prohibited Acts" was too long. This is from the NFL Rule Book. Go back and watch the replay! Brady tried to kick Reed. It is an Unsportsmanlike conduct and thus an obvious penalty.

Article 16: Illegal Cut Block. See Rule 8, Section 4, Article 5. Section 3 Unsportsmanlike Conduct Article 1: Prohibited Acts. There shall be no unsportsmanlike conduct. This applies to any act which is contrary to the generally understood principles of sportsmanship. (b) Using abusive, threatening, or insulting language or gestures to opponents, teammates, officials, or representatives of the League. © Using baiting or taunting acts or words that engender ill will between teams. (d) Prolonged or excessive celebrations or demonstrations by an individual player. Players are prohibited from engaging in any celebrations or demonstrations while on the ground. A celebration or demonstration shall be deemed excessive or prolonged if a player continues to celebrate or demonstrate after a warning from an official. (e) Two or more players engaging in prolonged, excessive, premeditated, or choreographed celebrations or demonstrations. (f) Possession or use of foreign or extraneous object(s) that are not part of the uniform during the game on the field or the sideline, or using the ball as a prop. (g) Unnecessary physical contact with a game official. (h) Removal of his helmet by a player in the field of play during a celebration or demonstration, or during a confrontation with a game official or any other player. Exceptions: It is not a foul if: I. a timeout has been called for reasons of injury, television break, or charged team timeout; or II. it is between periods. Note 1: Under no condition is an official to allow a player to shove, push, or strike him in an offensive, disrespectful, or unsportsmanlike manner. Any such action must be reported to the Commissioner. OFFICIAL NFL PLAYING RULES 70 From the NFL rule book. I believe section a. makes it pretty clear.

Could Tarvaris Jackson become our starting QB?
chris heff replied to mitchmurraydowntown's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe it was a conditional 6th and the conditions were not met so it became a 7th. Realistically this move is idiotic. If they had waited a few days they more than likely could have had Jackson for nothing and not have too pay him $2M. -
