Jennings would rather play in dome
RussellDopeland replied to mrags's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I frankly don't care whether Jonas Jennings prefers playing in a dome or not. Why are we talking about him anyways? Jamie Nails preferred playing in a Pizza Hut...so what? -
Ken Whisenhunt for HC?
RussellDopeland replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
When I think of the Bills hiring this guy I cringe. In all honesty, I'd rather they rehired Gailey or hired Norv Turner instead. It's that bad! Plus, Whisenhunt is a cadavar on the sidelines, like our old friend Dickie J. Can we actually hire a coach with personality and passion?!? Whisenhunt has the personality of a Ken doll. Plus, didn't we actually beat this joker with Gailey on the sidelines? Furthermore, didn't Whisenhunt's team roll over and play dead on him (getting lambasted 58-0 by Seattle)? Russ would have an impossible time selling this retread to Bills fans. -
Might as well interview Joe D'Alessandris, who has done a great job with the Bills offensive line in recent years, than Grimm. Sure, Grimm was a "hog", not to mention a Cowher guy; but his lines have sucked in Arizona. He would be another disaster for sure.

Kyle Shanahan and Geno Smith = The perfect combo
RussellDopeland replied to SBUffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Doesn't Belichick have a son on his staff? If he does, I'd rather we hired him than the Rat's son. Kyle Shanahan specializes in cursing out officials, getting his daddy's coffee, and gravy-training his last name to earn hefty paychecks from gullible NFL owners. Why not Brian Shottenheimer? His offenses have been exhilarating to watch in recent years. Maybe Mike Shula will come to Buffalo. They have great last names- big deal! I do Like Geno; I just don't want him coached by another Lane Kiffin-type. -
[closed]It's time to cancel Hee-Haw
RussellDopeland replied to billsfan714's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's too bad Buck Owens is dead...he'd have been a heck of a GM. And with Roy Clark coaching, and Grandpa Jones coordinating the defense, there'd have been no need to cancel Hee-Haw. -
Chan is a great coach...if he gets a great QB
RussellDopeland replied to BisonMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Set the franchise back several years?!! Seriously?! THIRTEEN years without a playoff appearance...13!! And you're worried about setting the franchise back several years if they fail with a young qb? Hell, they've failed with the retread backup that they elevated to starter. These country bumpkins aren't solely responsible for that elongated drought; but they are culpable for the last three years. I say draft a qb in every draft until you get the right one. I don't care if you draft two or three on draft weekend. Just do it! Eventually even a blind squirrel finds a nut. I'm just sick of the Bills being run and coached by dip**** squirrels. -
Chan is a great coach...if he gets a great QB
RussellDopeland replied to BisonMan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What I cannot understand about the pro-Gailey, "continuity" crowd is this: They argue that all Chan needs to really be successful is a "great' QB. But didn't Chan sit in the "war room" with Nix for three drafts? And knowing that he did, why then did he not, at any point, say to Buddy "We should take Dalton with this pick", or "We should grab Russell Wilson." He has had three chances to add a young, talented QB, but in that period they eschewed the likes of Dalton, Kaepernick, Mallet and Wilson in favor of building around Fitzpatrick. Sorry, but the Bills' qb woes are not strictly the fault of Nix and the scouts; Gailey bears great responsibility as well. And the failure to land one of these young prospects and instead "hitching their wagon" to number 14 means one thing- both must go! -
Would you take this if there were no other option?
RussellDopeland replied to cmjoyce113's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Have we sunk to such a nadir as to deem this scenario O.K.? Why not hire Bruce Coslet, Ritchie Kotite, or Wayne Fontes to coach the team? I want nothing to do with Wannstedt or, for that matter, Norv Turner. Enough with the stumblebums already! And Nix can stick his "continuity" up his country-bumpkin derriere. -
Twenty years later and some are still making the case that Levy was out-coached. Given what we just witnessed again today, I would give anything to have a Marv Levy-caliber coach on the sidelines compared to Gailey (or for that matter, any of the buffoons that have been patroling the Bills' sideline since Levy retired). Marv knew how to manage the clock, used his star running back correctly, and coached aggressively (remember him passing on a sure field goal and going for it on a 4th and 8 in the redzone during the comeback game against Houston, for example).

Pick one to leave - Fitz, Chan or Wanny
RussellDopeland replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Can I pick Ralph? -
Please stop defending this rag-armed mediocrity. He's backup-caliber, nothing more. The defense is terrible; the coaching is second-rate; the team has no heart and plays without passion. But let's not kid ourselves into believing that #14 is anything other than what he is- a backup posing as a starter. And yes, the interception late was inexusably bad, and to say that you "can't put this one on Fitz" is whistling by the graveyard. And a front line starter at QB would have given his team a chance with 1:03 on the clock- a Manning or Rogers, even a Shaub, would have at least attempted to throw a pass farther than 10 yards down the field.

I'm excited to have Kelsay starting again!

Getting excited to watch Kelsay play is comparable to the excitement one feels in anticipation of an upcoming colonoscopy -
Bills sign Andrew Jackson to practice squad

How long will it be before Colin Brown or Sam Young end up on IR as a result of a "dueling" injury? -
This move is not at all surprising. His play has regressed the last 3 years; this year he's been nothing short of awful. Best punter in franchise history, but time to move on. And if anyone watched the Seattle punter last night (Ryan), it's evidently clear that Moorman couldn't come close to matching what he can do.

Tank cut - Carder to Cleveland Browns
RussellDopeland replied to Kelly the Dog's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"If he's such a stiff, slow-footed white dude then WTF were we doing drafting him in the 5th? And what do you call Chris White?" Chris White may not be the most agile or athletic guy either. However, he doesn't have a cool name at all. "Chris" and "White" aren't catchy. If his name was "Chainsaw McDonald" people would be clamoring for him to start. -
Remember what Marv said...

Carder is a stiff, slow-footed white dude with a cool name. If he was named Larry, and black, no one here would give a rat's a$$ where he ended up. -
My impression of the draft so far is that Chan and Buddy think they are smarter than everyone else, same as our wonderful former GM Tom Donahoe. 1. They take a left tackle no one thinks can play left tackle when there are at least 2 more polished left tackles still out there. 2.They draft a nobody wide receiver whose only asset is speed and who will not play for us this year AND THEY TRADED UP TO GET HIM! 3. This despite glaring needs at other positions, such as QB and linebacker. For all those who trust in Buddy, haven't we seen this before? This is the type of crap that makes me question why I waste my precious time coming here. You, sir, are a jackass!
