  1. If we can't get Tebow, then and only then would Dan LeFevour be an adequate contingency. I would prefer him over any of the other QBs in the draft (he gave Georgia fits when we played them 2 years ago), but Tebow is going to change the fortunes of whichever team drafts him.
  2. Training camp? You are delusional.
  3. The other difference is Fitz is probably the worst quarterback in the NFL today. Fitz is not the man. If you cannot recognize a desperate attempt by a failing coach to shunt the blame onto someone else (see firing of Turk Schonert in preseason), then you are beyond reconciliation with reason. I mean with bantering idiots on TSW calling for DJs blood he had to do something to make it look like it wasn't his fault. And it wasn't entirely his fault (see offensive line). But comon, saying Fitz is better than Trent is just embarrassing for you.
  4. For the first time I can remember I actually agree with WEO. To the OP: I suppose we will just throw it to Lee Evans and playoffs here we come, eh? There are so many reasons why this suggestion wreaks of foolery that I don't even feel the need to enumerate them all. To have formed this opinion of next year's team demonstrates that you have zero grasp on reality and that logic and reason are lost on you forever, and any effort expended in demonstrating why you are so obviously wrong would be an utter waste of time and adenosine triphosphate molecules. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
  5. Because Trent is the better QB. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just in Bills-suck denial and looking for a scapegoat. Fitzpatrick won a single game for us on a single prayer that he threw down the field. He did not make another outstanding pass, and in fact, pretty much every ball he threw looked like a wounded duck. He was the recipient of a few lucky breaks which had nothing to do with QB play that allowed us to steal games we should not have won. Fitzpatrick is probably the worst professional QB I've ever seen play a down in my life. Does he have heart? It appears so. Does he have even a modicum of NFL caliber talent? No. And even a banged-up, concussed TE still post better per game statistics and a higher passer rating. So I'm really not sure why you even bother to ask such an inane and obvious question.
  6. Uh....*if* Big Ben was available, we would be hard pressed to find a better candidate for the Bills job, which is more than obvious. It seems mute though because I seriously doubt Pittsburg has any interest in dumping their franchise QB.
  7. The scheme wasn't the problem. Fatigue was. We had decent personnel for that scheme and with an offense that showed any signs of competency could have been very strong on d. If there was a weakness personnel wise, it was without question our LBs. I couldn't disagree with you more, and I'm not sure you understand the dynamics of a football game.
  8. You mean you actually wasted the time it took to find and post those in an effort to make a point which isn't even obvious? Way to go.
  9. Occam's Razor. The simplest explanation is that we aren't signing any free agents because everyone realizes we are going to be bad anyway, so we are going to save money for when it might actually be put to better use.
  10. What we do in free agency this year is irrelevant because there are not nearly enough free agents who can make an impact available *and* who would consider signing with the Bills. I think it would be best if we just stick to talking about who to draft this year as well as next year. And maybe the year after that.
  11. Considering the Bills obviously don't place a great deal of value on offensive tackles, I'd say there is about a 70% chance we draft a QB in the first round. I'd say that's about a 50% chance we trade down and draft Tebow later in the first. But then again we are just pulling numbers out of our asses here so who cares?
  12. Funny, coming from a guy talking out of his ass.
  13. As a Georgia Bulldogs fan, I can tell you from watching quite a lot of Tebow's games, especially at the Bulldog's expense, that you are quite wrong.
  14. zomg. I can't believe nobody thought of that sooner.
  15. No. ________________________________ Also I think our secondary is the one thing we don't want to touch. We are young and very talented there. It's really our one true strength right now and could be unbelievable if kept in tact during the rebuilding process. *If* we were going to get rid of any of them, I would say McGee, but still, I do not like that idea. If in three or four years we have good enough personnel to man an effective 3-4 front, with that secondary, we could be looking at a super bowl caliber defense of the Ravens/Bucks SB championship molds. But McGee is the most likely imo to leave to free agency before then anyway, so that's why I think he would be the one to deal if you were going to do that. That being said, who wants to wait for 3 or 4 years to rebuild our defensive personnel? I like the 3-4 better than the 4-3 in the pass-heavy NFL, but for us, considering the personnel we already have in place, it seems like an ill advised choice. I guess with our offensive troubles it doesn't really matter, as we are 3-4 years from being competitive on that side of the ball anyway (thanks largely to the Peters trade and Wood injury), and that is probably the line of thinking that lead the Bills brass to the decision to switch now anyway.
  16. Out of all the players in the draft, I want Tebow. I agree that we have greater needs at lineman, but I think Tebow is the kind of opportunity that comes along rarely enough that when it does you have to take it.
  17. If Cody is available and we don't take him, I'll have to assume that our new front office wants to lose.
  18. At $9 million per season, Lee Evans job is to produce with no questions asked. That is the conundrum of accepting large contracts. I don't really care if he did all he could, the point is that you ARE NOT getting $9million worth of value out of the guy or anywhere close to it and won't for the next 1-2 years at least, hence the wisest course of action is to trade the guy for additional draft picks.
  19. Alphadawg, which of us has been a salaried football coach before? I'll give you a hint - it isn't you. Granted, I coached at a high school, but I got paid for my knowledge of the game - something I am quite positive that you will never be able to brag. Also, I love how your argument against any point that I make can be summed up with "nuh uh". Dude, I have some advice for you. Just call up Lee and see if he will let you come suck his **** already so we can stop reading your inane comments regarding his awesomeness all over this board.
  20. *stammer* *stammer* I love the sound of Alphadawg trying to explain why his stupidity isn't stupid. You make me laugh. Not in a good way.
  21. I like how you keep on using the Madden insult that I first used when describing your comprehension of the game. The beautiful irony of it is that you keep calling me stupid in the same posts where you fail to even think of a coherent or lucid insult of your own. Alphadawg you have a special place in my heart. A warm little cozy corner that I usually reserve for pitying mongoloids and lepers.
  22. Because there is no chance of winning anything in the next two years. 4 wins will likely be overachieving, and hence it would just make all the sense in the world to pick up what draft picks we can and rebuild. What doesn't make sense is keeping and exorbitantly overpriced and underachieving receiver on the roster when without a legitimate starting QB, and no semblance of an offensive line that could actually protect a QB, there simply is no way that the guy is going to be productive at all. WR is one of the easier positions in the league to acquire. With a decent QB and a good line, you don't really need great WRs anyway. What we do need is a QB and a lot of help on both lines, so we should just get what value we can out of the guy and start drafting for the future. Again.
  23. I couldn't agree more with your assessment. After watching last year you would think that people would understand how poor a decision it was to disregard the O-line. The conundrum is that where last year we seemed to have all the pieces in place *except* for a solid O-line heading into the season, this year we are in equally bad if not worse situation regarding the O-line, and on top of that, we are most likely going to lose our solid core of WRs, our defense is completely porous and we utterly lack the personnel to make the 3-4 work. Some fans may finally get their wish for a top 5 draft pick, because with a new coaching staff, a defensive scheme for which we cannot in any way field adequate players, the worst O-line in the NFL yet again, no QB (which is pretty irrelevant at this point since a good QB would just get pummeled here anyway), Lee !@#$ing Evans as our likely "#1" receiver (that says it all right there), and on top if it all, our one redeeming quality which was special teams will be without the highest regarded special teams coach in the NFL. I would not be surprised if we are the worst team in the league for the next 2 or 3 years. At least the Lions are improving. We are de-proving. But yea, glad we got rid of Jason Peters though. THAT made us better. Woot.
  24. You are basically asking if Trent is as good as Favre, Manning or Brees. Well the answer there is obvious. But I think they would all still be competitive playoff teams with Trent behind the helm.
  25. No, if either tackle is being neutralized, then the offensive tackle is winning the battle. It isn't like the guy is going to block two people anyway, so that really doesn't make much sense. From a run defense standpoint, holding his ground at the line I guess could be considered neutralizing the tackle in an effective way, as long as he can still move laterally to fill gaps, but when rushing the pass, which is what was being discussed, you have to expect a push from the defensive lineman, period. If the line can't create a push, it is not going to be hard for 2 guards and one or two backs to pick up blitzing linebackers. You need defensive lineman who can draw a double team, thereby leaving one or both linebackers with only one blocker to pick them up, thus allowing them to utilize what should be an advantage in speed. As it stands, only Stroud appears to have the ability to consistently draw the double team, and playing him in the middle would be disadvantageous against the run, which btw, was our weakness. All that being said, I'm not sure why anyone would want to change our defensive scheme at this point. We have a decent line and a great secondary and the d was rock solid against the pass. Also, our rush defense never really got abused until well into the second halves of most games (barring the occasional long run that any team gives up), and that is as much a function of our inept offense not giving them enough plays to rest as any lack of talent. If we stay in a 4-3 scheme, we are about one great LB away from having a very strong overall defense. Then the onus is on the offense to move the ball and keep guys fresh. Bottom line is there is no adjustment that can make the defense successful if we don't start to move the ball consistently, and the thought that our defense is sub par is greatly exaggerated by the continued ineptitude of the offense.
