  1. Yea...."aweful" isn't a word. And believe me, there is no QB in the NFL that would have succeeded on any team Trent has been the starting QB for. The problem has been an utter lack of talent. No talent on the line, no talent at WR. Now I know you will say "Oh but he has Lee Evans." Please refer to my above comment about no talent at WR. I'm not saying Trent is a good QB. I'm simply saying we certainly have not seen him play to full potential, and also that Joe Montana would look pretty terrible surrounded by this Bills team. And don't expect it to be pretty this year. It's always the darkest right before the sun rises, and this season should prove that out. I believe Chan Gailey can and will do a good job, and that our draft was solid and I do like their apparent philosophy. But it looks pretty hopeless for the Bills this year and probably next year as well. After that - who knows. Will we fans allow Chan time to get his system fully implemented? Probably not. So really while I think Chan was a good hire, it will probably lead to rebuilding for 2-3 years while being mired in mediocrity if not down right horrible football, fans growing impatient because the system isn't working, Chan being fired, and the process starting all over again as we attempt to switch back to a base 4-3 defense (should be about fully phased back in by then). Oh yea - and then Ralph Wilson dies and the Bills become the Los Angeles Terminators. Pretty much sums up how I feel about the state of the franchise.
  2. Yea...except that draft success != NFL success in the short term. I mean if you seriously think that any draft class is going to be able to lift an otherwise sure fire bottom 5 team out of the cellar, you really don't know much about pro football. Any team that is relying heavily on multiple rookies to make them a better team is so unbelievably bad you probably don't want to discuss it at all.
  3. This already is an epically bad Bills team. You really can't see how they ranked us this low? I mean just check the message board. We have a large percentage of people claiming Ryan Fitzpatrick is our best QB. That alone is more than enough evidence of our epic badness. Just face it. The Bills are BAD. I'm optimistic about Gailey and where the team could go under his direction, but this year we suffer. To think otherwise is naive and really just prelude to crushing disappointment. Again. Reasons for our epic badness include, but are not limited to: 1. Fitzpatrick and Brohm are actually in legitimate discussion about whom is the Bills best QB (epic ouch). 2. Lee Evans is our best wide out (epic ouch). 3. One of our other receivers is our 2nd best wide out (OMFG ouch). 4. Our offensive line is among the worst in the league, with very little reason to believe that it will get better. 5. Our defensive line that was barely adequate in the tampa2 will now be asked to anchor the 3-4. 6. Our linebacking corps utterly lack the kind of depth, size, strength and talent required to play in a 3-4. We had a LB corp that was MEDIOCRE AT BEST in a tampa2, and now our defense is going to be focused around that unit? (Yikes) 7. New staff, new system, new stuff to forget and screw up repeatedly. 8. The weather in Buffalo is January is completely miserable (hooray for living in the deep south - pretty much the only thing I like about it). Well if you are still having trouble understanding why anyone would believe we are going to be *that* bad, I would like to know what makes you think otherwise. I would love to be pleasantly surprised. But I mean really are you going to sit here and pretend that we are somehow going to overcome all of the above and finish better than 10 other teams in the league? There is only one way I can describe that: hopelessly delusional.
  4. Because they know there is no chance of being competitive this year. It's pretty simple really.
  5. Guys when we already have a big bruising back and a good overall back it doesn't make any sense to run a small shifty back 30 times a game. Especially considering our offensive line, I think that 12 carries and 15-18 touches for a rookie back who is small and quick is just about a great compliment to what we have in the backfield, and it plays into Trent's tendency to check down, which is pretty obviously why they drafted him (and kind of makes it a no-brainer as to who the new regime believes the starting QB is going to be). Actually 12 carries a game would be great if we only had Fred or Marshawn. I really don't see him getting that many carries unless we move one of those two guys. Expect to see him in passing situations predominantly and probably carrying the smallest load of the running game and almost certainly not starting at the position.
  6. Admitting you made a mistake is the first step towards rectifying it. The whole world already knows that trading away Peters was a brainless, cheapskate move that devastated our O-line and was probably the single biggest contributing factor to last year's debacle of a season, and only a kool-aid drinking fraction of Bills fans fail to realize that.
  7. Does that explain why we used our top pick in the draft on a position that is one of the deepest and most talented we have on the team? Other than in the defensive secondary, RB is the one place we didn't need help. Doesn't really bode well for the new regime and the Bills future imo. I'm still just utterly shellshocked by that pick.
  8. The problem is that we used our top draft pick on the one position that we needed least. That right there pretty much killed any optimism I had about the new regime. I did like the way we drafted on the defensive side of the ball, but drafting Spiller was supremely ill-advised imo. I'm not going to lie, I wanted Tebow at #9. I think OT is a much bigger need for us than QB but even still I watched Tebow play in at least 15 games and I believe he is going to be an elite hall of fame caliber QB. But if not Tebow, why oh why did we not draft an OT or trade down for more picks if we didn't like the value at #9? It just doesn't make an ounce of sense to me, for a team with more holes than solid positions to draft with their top pick the one position where we have talent and depth. It is beyond idiotic and really I'm tired of people trying to sugar coat this or be optimistic about it. What we should all be is pissed off (again). I hate to rain on the little optimism parade but we are going to suck so hard its not going to be funny. Even though I think we drafted well on defense, our defense is not going to be in the top half of the league. Not even close. We will be abused on both sides of the ball, and even when the defense is having a competitive game, our offensive ineptitude is going to force them to stay on the field until they become exhausted and then get steamrolled or injured, again. No, this is not going to be a good season.
  9. The sad thing is I think you are actually serious. It would just be better if you do not ever proliferate.
  10. Posts like this are the reason why you have zero credibility and why everyone on this forum thinks you are really dumb.
  11. I'm going to have to go with the unpopular answer and say Trent Edwards. I have zero faith in Fitzpatrick, obviously, and I don't believe Brohm is an NFL caliber QB either. Levi Brown is the real unknown here, but when considering that we are talking about a rookie QB playing behind an indescribably horrible offensive line, I feel like even with his tentativeness in the pocket, Trent is going to be much more suited to handling the pressure and making the throws, because he has been there before. You have to understand that neither Brohm nor Brown have been behind center for a meaningful amount of snaps, and their performance in a game time environment is going to be significantly less effective than when they are out there lobbing balls around during spring training. I'm not advocating Trent as a good QB here. I'm simply saying that in the end, he is probably going to be our best option at QB this year, even when it comes to throwing it deep. I'm about 80% convinced he will be the opening day starter once again. Too bad we didn't get Tebow. I hope he blows the record books away in Denver.
  12. Right, that makes perfect sense. In a smaller division, against far inferior competition, and in the same spread offense that the pundits have used for their basis of discrediting Tebow, one can obviously make the logical assumption that Levi Brown is going to outshine the man who re-wrote the collegiate record books and stands like a giant among men over the greatest cerebral QB in the NFL today, statistically speaking. Yea, that has a ton of credibility.
  13. Interesting topic. Personally I think a SB is much more impressive, because they don't play a series of games during the playoffs. In the NHL, you can have a bad game and still win it all. I would prefer to see a SB victory, just because I'm far more passionate for the game than I am for hockey, but in reality, I think a Stanley Cup is more likely at this point.
  14. The phrase is "case in point".....which is ironic considering the context of your usage.
  15. I'm not really sure what was so impressive about those highlights. Every catch he made should have been made. He was clearly playing against inferior competition, thus taking advantage of his mismatches. On top of that, there wasn't anything particularly gifted athletically in those highlights. I also noticed how all of the highlights are against Purdue, Ball State, Penn State, Minnesota, and ECU. No highlights from the games against the Big-10 teams that were actually competitive...much less against ranked opponents. But yea...he is the 2nd coming of Randy Moss who is going to explode the record books when he gets healthy....
  16. Frankly I will be surprised if he is available when we pick at #9. Why any Bills fan would not want to snatch this guy up immediately as soon as possible just boggles my mind, especially if they have read that article or done even an ounce of research for themselves. If Tebow is available at #9 (I'm not getting my hopes up) and we fail to take him there, we deserve to wallow in mediocrity for the remainder of the Bills existence in Buffalo.
  17. This has to be one of the most insanely idiotic posts I've ever read. I think bandit did a good job of completely debunking this nonsense so I won't waste any of my time retreading his logic which I am quite certain will have no affect whatsoever on your opinion anyway, since it is perfectly clear that logic and reason are concepts that are utterly lost on you. I will just say that your post is a flagrant insult to lucid thought, and as such, you should really consider not saying anything at all, rather than demonstrating your stupidity to the rest of the world.
  18. You may want to look at my Tebow vs Lefevour statistics above, because if memory serves me correctly, you were one of those saying that Tebow was benefiting from a short passing oriented offense (which his career 9.4 yards per attempt pretty much debunks immediately, and is also 2 full YPA more than Lefevour).
  19. Are you referring to his team's substantially worse record against far inferior competition, or to the fact that he did not win the Heisman? I see the argument you are trying to make: the lack of quality players around him affected those things. But Tebow earned his accomplishments in a conference, that let's be honest, was FAR superior to anything Lefevour ever had to play against. Case in point: 2008 vs Georgia Bulldogs (which both played against and which had a good defense) Lefevour: 43 attempts, 23 completions, 250 yards, 53.5% completions, 5.8 ypa, 2 TDs, 1 int Tebow: 13 attempts, 10 completions, 154 yards, 76.9% completions, 11.8 ypa, 2 TDs, 0 int Also, just to drive the point home, final scores: CMU 17 UGA 56 UF 49 UGA 10 Now normally I'm not a huge fan of statistical analysis in these kinds of situations, but when you have an example like this against the exact same team in the same year, and with this kind of discrepancy in the statistics, its pretty hard to argue against. It also makes the point that when Tebow is ripping off 11.8 ypa, he is NOT dinking and dunking down the field in a short passing offense that inflates his stats, as some anti-Tebow/anti-logic sentiment on this board suggests (For the record, Tebow's career ypa at UF was a whopping 9.4 - Lefevour's was 7.3). 11.8 ypa is a flipping first down per attempt, which is SHREDDING the same defense that held mighty Lefevour and company to a meager 17 points. Conclusion: Tebow is the real deal. Lefevour is not worthy of cleaning the dirt of out Tebow's cleats. Disclaimer: this is my opinion which is backed by actual, real life FACTS. If you don't like it, post something more compelling. Ahem. See above. Also look at the following college career statistics for each: ----------- rating att comp % yrds ypa TD INT TD:int Tebow 176.0 985 661 67.1 9286 9.4 88 15 5.9 Lefevo 142.9 1763 1171 66.4 12905 7.3 102 36 2.8 So ultimately, against far superior competition, Tebow was overwhelmingly superior statistically speaking (in every category in fact when you account for the difference in passing attempts - Lefevour had nearly twice as many attempts), and against the exact same competition, the above statistical analysis speaks for itself. Do you still want to continue this argument?
  20. 100% agreed. But it did free up plenty of money to sign um...uh....exactly. It was a cheap !@#$ing move and a spit in the face of Bills fans, and what is sad is that so many of them open up their mouths and drink it up.
  21. Well...with Jason Peters and no T.O. we won seven games. Without Jason Peters but having one of the most prolific receivers in NFL history we won 6 games, and that only because the Colts did their typical "pound on our 2nd teamers while we rest our starters and !@#$ other teams out of their legitimate playoff chances" routine. So it would appear we are in fact not better without Jason Peters.
  22. You like gamers, but prefer LeFevour over Tebow? Sounds strange to me.
  23. I lol'ed. And not in a good way. So you mean to tell me that NFL talent evaluators are lead to assumption by not considering the situation, but Alphadawg, with his guru-like wisdom, was able to recognize the fallacy of their logic without a single shred of inside information, all from the comfort of his own sticky keyboard? Dood you ARE impressive!
  24. I know. Tebow is a much greater commodity, hence he will be drafted well before Lefevour. If Tebow were available at 2.09 then its an absolute no brainer. But he won't be. We will need to trade down in the first to get Tebow, although I'm not exactly positive that is in our best interest. I believe we should do whatever is necessary to land Tebow, but I also acknowledge the argument that drafting a great LT at #9 has very real merit. I do think that if we cannot get 1 of the 2 premier OTs at #9, then we have to trade down and take Tebow, no matter which side of that coin you are on. Just so you know, every team is going to say that Tebow is a 2nd rounder, because they want him to slide in the first. That much is obvious to me. But some QB starved team is going to decide to grab him while they have the chance. It is going to happen and it will be in the first round. We can come back to this post later to bask in my right-ness after the draft.
