  1. I'd wish Tim Russert would've been alive to see it.
  2. I'd settle for a box of cat litter to be named later for Lynch.
  3. This sharply increases the likelihood of trading down for more picks unless Bradford, Clausen, or McClain is available at 9.
  4. In my estimation, either Bradford or Clausen drops to 9 or we're going to trade down.
  5. This stadium issue doesn't hit the fan until Ralph dies and the team sells. Then there will be an overwhelming demand for a new stadium. And not an upgrade, but a new facility with a lot more luxury boxes and premium seating for them to charge a lot more money for. Depending on what the municipality and the state are willing to chip in, the Bills could be going the way of the Braves. It's nothing about Buffalo or snow, it's just economics. TV money alone could wrest the team from WNY, depending on the ownership team.
  6. It's a decent feature article on the man, but it doesn't address the fundamental issues that still make Nix a question mark. Questions like: What was his role in building the San Diego Chargers? Why didn't the Bills look at anyone else, was he really that good an interviewer? Can he accomplish what AJ Smith did in San Diego or are we looking at a glorified scout who drafts and manages with all the deft of Marv Levy?
  7. A good start. Can a team cut 55 players?
  8. Trading up for Bradford, sure. I'm not even sure I'd select Clausen if he fell to 9. There is a deep quarry of QBs in this draft. We could draft in round 3 or 4 and find decent material that would not be a "project." More likely, Nix and Gailey will trade down to get more picks. We have a lot of holes to fill in our new defensive structure, as has been mentioned here on the board, and they are probably right to bring in as many new players to replace the old players who have done little to inspire confidence this last decade.
  9. I fear for moves like this. We supposedly brought in Nix to build through the draft. Bringing in more late career skill players onto a team that is barely able to move the football makes no sense. We need to fill positions. We have a 3-4 to build. We need depth, not players that will create ticket sales. The TO experiment blew up. Turns out he couldn't throw the ball and catch it at the same time. Parity is dead. The cap is off. We need quality young players who we can develop. We're not going to the playoffs this year, probably not next, assuming we play at all. Gotta hope that the new coaching staff really can teach and motivate and bring a winner back to WNY.
  10. I thought Manning and the other Colts players were magnanimous and honest, quick to eschew the cliche answers despite what had to be a biting defeat. No problem here.
  11. No, I was impressed by the football game. The Who were dreadful and nearly unwatchable. They did go overboard on the commercials, but llook at it from the network's perspective. They were raking in a fortune for every conceivable break they could take. If that frustrated us, imagine how broken the game would have felt live there in Miami.
  12. I'm actually very sorry to hear that. What Polian and Manning have built in Indy should be celebrated regardless of the result.
  13. The only thing Nix can do is be true to his football instincts and draft the best need position of the players left on the board. What more can we ask of anyone in that position? Hopefully the instincts that San Diego has had in drafting and developing Pro Bowl players have rubbed off on Nix and Gailey. If not, we're looking at yet another failed regime. It's really too early by far to know what their impact will be. The truth will make itself known on the field.
  14. I expect Maybin is a serious drug user. Based on his performance last season, I'd say that drug was formaldehyde.
  15. Excellent post. I was a strong proponent of the LT, QB or QB, LT strategy for the Bills this year. But after Gailey announced that we were switching to the 3-4, I'm in agreement that the DT/DE scenario is more rational. DE, Derrick Morgan would be an awesome selection at #9. He could practically start immediately. We could draft LT/ILB in the second round and QB in the third and still get a really good QB prospect. Mel Kiper and the other pundits will probably stroke out if we don't select a LT by our second pick. But I believe drafting an ILB at this position would pay real dividends to lay the foundation of the new 3-4. Not paying and then trading Peters was stupid. This second scenario is down the crapper if by some miracle Bradford drops to #9. I don't feel like you can pass him up.
  16. Nelson showed potential although his blocking was often lacking this season. Mike Leach called Hardy on the phone and told him to stay in an electrical closet for the season.
  17. It's awfully difficult to evaluate his talent with an offensive lineman constantly laying on top of him.
  18. I look at the 2010 draft for the Bills and conclude that they could be a real wild card. Let's assume, probably wrongly, that the draft falls the way Don Banks expects. Except at #8, the Raiders are sure to select someone who is a natural 3rd round draft pick because that's the way Al Davis drafts every year. This opens up Rutgers OT, Andrew Davis. If it were me, I'd prefer Iowa OT, Bryan Bulaga, who was rock solid for the Hawkeyes last season. That's a fairly obvious selection. Not so obvious, however, is that the Bills could select Oklahoma State WR, Dez Bryant to replace Reed and/or Owens. The only fallacy with this is we still don't have an OT to protect the QB so he can find Bryant downfield. My estimation is that the OL will be improved next year, although, the fates seem to be saying that Wood could miss 2010 altogether. Also at #9 is Georgia Tech DE, Derrick Morgan. If Gailey is sincere about his plan to move the Bills D to a 3-4 alignment, this could be an outstanding selection to begin to build a framework for success. He could start almost immediately and move draft bust Maybin back to his natural position at OLB. The Chargers are terrific at getting incredible talent through the draft and we have to hope that Nix isn't suffering the onset of dimensia. As discussed frequently on this board, there are plenty of high quality QB prospects up and down the draft board and we may end up trading for one with our #2 or #3 pick anyway, and I'm not entirely sold on Clausen, assuming he's available a #9 at all. We could pick up an OT in the second or third round.
  19. After QB and OT, I expect the Bills will concentrate on filling positions for their new 3-4, especially at LB and DE.
  20. Except for DeHaven and the assistants we've retained, it's good to see these 1st team All-Google choices being retained at OBD. Ralph must be thrilled with the cost.
  21. Sadly, Ralph Wilson - our actual general manager - doesn't read Nawrocki. He trades ideas with his talent expert, Al Davis.
  22. I've seen Colts -4 Indy -210 Saints +175 o/u 55.5 or 56
