Johnson fined $10K for celebration
Wing Man replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I hope the team picks up the fine for him. What a joke. Next week, $20,000 fine for false start penalty. -
Edwards for a used athletic supporter to be named later.

Love it!!

I'm encouraged that Fitz is back in the drivers seat. Problem is, he has virtually no one to throw to. Evans and our backfield receivers are solid, but the rest are a walking tip drill waiting to happen. So if you're the Patriots, you do what you've always done - double or triple Evans and force the Bills to throw to anyone other than the running backs underneath. I feel well about the defense, even after last week. They only gave up 357 or so yards to a team that's likely to see the super bowl. The offense made sure that Green Bay had superior field position. Tom Brady, however, is not without weapons of his own and will exploit a 3-4 that's still trying to find their chemistry. Pats roll 28-13.

Bills are being laughed at on the field.
Wing Man replied to b stein 22's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Wanting other teams to stop laughing at us is different from making them. I'd like to see a lot more passion from our offensive line every Sunday. Great NFL lines push back on the defense, not the other way around. When was the last time you saw our line pushing the DL back? If we did, we'd chalk up serious rushing and passing yards. We seem to be content every down to almost protect the QB or almost run block which leads to disaster. Our OLBs are inept. Maybin is an idiot and Ellison is out of position. It's not really Ellison's fault that we switched to a 3-4, we didn't have anyone else with any talent, and he isn't built for the position. Consider that Ellison is starting at OLB and you get the idea how bad we are at the position. If you're his backup, you need to rethink your life. We need new ones and short of free agency, it's the draft next April, nothing you can do. Football is a physical game and we are pathetically underweight at a lot of positions and undertalented at even more. I have few issues with Whitner except he doesn't play like a number 8 pick. Want change? Then change starts at home. Leadership does too. -
Belichick on Lynch (and Spiller, Fitz)
Wing Man replied to VA Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Coaches are famously generous in their remarks about the other team they are facing at press conferences prior to the game. It's cliche. It rarely represents their true feelings about another team or their personnel. It's just NFL manners by the book. When we were at our peak in the 1990s, Marv had to look into the camera and talk about other teams that couldn't beat a dead horse as though they were something special. It's just what happens. Take nothing from it. -
I see that the Bills players agree to decertify the Union
Wing Man replied to DarthICE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There will be a lockout or a strike in 2011. The owners will bring in replacement players, and like last time, the games will be a joke. The owners get their television money anyway and the players get nothing. The two sides are recalcitrant, particularly the subset of owners who are hard liners and want a wholesale change in the revenue pie. Now that Gene Upshaw has died, the owners sense weakness in the union. This impasse will last as long as the players can reasonably hold out. The owners have the upper hand the longer this plays out. Don't look for any players to cross the picket line. As always, the fans are the losers and will view both sides with contempt. Never-the-less, the players vote today was inevitable and will be repeated through the league. We're talking about a huge sum of money being divided and the owners' demands are prohibitive. -
Magnificent choice!

Maybin was a first rounder on most boards. My probem with the Bills drafting this decade is it reads like a mock draft. I get the overwhelming idea that the draft day brain trust, if you can call them that, was looking to see who they should be picking, not from their scouts or any meaningful evaluation of football talent, but from the same mock drafts we read. Over and over again, we reached for the position we needed based on the pundits' analysis. Until Nix, I haven't witnessed any sense of direction in our drafting analysis. The result is we repeatedly draft players at high number locations that bust like a water balloons dropped from 30,000ft. Was anyone in the front office competent to make selections? We know it wasn't Modrak. I know I'll catch hell for this, but did Ralph care if anyone was competent so long as he was cheap?

Which came first - the Fitz or Clausen announcement?
Wing Man replied to LGB's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sadly, Clausen has more upside than anyone we have on our roster at QB, probably including Brohm. However, the 2011 draft class is miles ahead of Clausen. -
I hear Nix is looking for a team that will take Edwards for a bucket of snot.

Philly signs RB Bell off of our Practice Squad

Put Cornell Green on the practice squad. Maybe we'll luck out. -

Vick 20/33 283 yds 2 TD 0 INT
Wing Man replied to filthymcnasty08's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Jauron's ghost pervades most every player on this roster. They are soft and they play soft. Vick, Matthews, Bulaga wouldn't help because they can't help. This isn't a one or two year rebuilding phase, it's an exorcism. -
My Game Gameplan + Prediction Vs Green Bay
Wing Man replied to buffalo_bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Green Bay 30, Buffalo 10 -
I just got sick of hearing, "Well, he's listed as a cornerback, but we'll use him at defensive end. He was a punter in high school, so we'll use him as a quarterback," or nonsense to that end. Maybin was a 3-4 linebacker who had no business being drafted by the Bills and played as a DE in a 4-3. It's ok, IMHO, to pick up players on cut day. It's just difficult to integrate the playbook into them very rapidly. I'll always have a place in my heart for Marv.

Gailey Certainly Has His Work Cut Out for Him
Wing Man replied to mabden's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Personnel and execution are the problems, not coaching. He's up to it, but he may not have the key personnel for a year or two. -
Oakland, oh crap we don't play them.

Hobson's choice. Maybe a nice hammer to the knee instead.

Why the opening game is the most crucial of the season...
Wing Man replied to beggar13's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If we win nine and take one out of two from N.E. this season, we make the playoffs.
