Maybin - stat line says 2 sacks 3 QB hits
Ghost of Rob Johnson replied to sharper802's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Currently he is a player who will be used as a situational pass rusher in a rotation with Torbor. 2nd/3rd and long and obvious passing situations will be his. I think this currently is a good role for him and perhaps the role that, when he was drafted, was envisioned for him early in his career until he can develop his body/technique. Say what you will about this drafting strategy, it no longer matters, he is on the team. -
Best Sports Bars in the Buffalo area?

Greyside on the corner of Seneca and Transit has an enormous projection screen. -
ECC lot, is only $15 and you can tailgate on grass or a paved parking lot. Entrance is accross from Bert's on Southwestern. If you're really concerned about your vehicle turn right after you pay the guy and you won't even have to park near anyone but will have a little more of a walk.

That would be a smart move for anybody, that's why it would cost more.

[please fix subject]What The **** ??
Ghost of Rob Johnson replied to T master's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps the cost of keeping Easley, cutting Hardy and/or Nelson, plus not having him for the first few weeks made it worth putting him on IR. Especially since he will be back next season rather than off the roster for good. -
I've never had an opinion on the word "swagger," but in my opinion the two alternates you named sound much worse.

Back it up with some stats? or anything other than your say-so?

There's a difference between having the "it" factor, and being a cocky douche. He's got the "cocky douche" factor.

The y/g stat is skewed slightly as it includes games that Edwards played only spot duty in (2009: NYJ & NE, 2008: Ari), which he had a total of 10 attempts and 60 yds in. Revised without these games his career y/g is still not good at roughly 187 yards per game but thought I'd note the correction. Another interesting stat is his 6.7 yards per attempt, more than other recent Bills QBs Drew Bledsoe (6.6) and JP Losman (6.6) and the anointed QBs in the AFC East Chad Henne (6.4) and Mark Sanchez (also 6.7).

Where does Buffalo Rank in NFL attendence?

True, but the cost of living in the area is lower as well, so ticket price expectation can only be so high. -
Chan Gailey admonishes a group of fans
Ghost of Rob Johnson replied to a topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Technically doesn't he and the players have the same rights you claim the fans have? Therefore they're under no obligation to sign anything for someone who is going to heckle them for 3 hours. -
Chan Gailey admonishes a group of fans

First off, it's a free open practice that they invite the fans to. They don't owe anyone anything there, and technically he did do something about it. It's a two way street, the players don't have to sign anything for them, and so they didn't. I'm sure the heckling was over the top to draw that kind of reaction. -

Bad is bad, losing is losing. The ability to assign assign blame should make you feel any better. -

Cap spending is much different than actual dollars. Using cap spending accomplishes nothing other than skew the numbers to write a story. US today has them at #12 for total payroll for 2009. http://content.usatoday.com/sports/football/nfl/salaries/totalpayroll.aspx?year=2009 -

Can't, he signed with the UFL, part of the terms of their contracts is they have to finish out the UFL season before signing with an NFL team. -
I've posted this article a few times on the threads that pop up regarding Locker, he didn't enter the draft this past year for a reason. He was given a 2nd round grade by NFL's advisory committee. Now it's obviously possible he can improve and be a top QB, but as it stood going into the 2010 draft scouts did not view him as such. "Despite a proclamation by ESPN's Todd McShay that Locker would/should/could be the first overall pick, a league source tells us that Locker didn't receive a first-round grade from the Advisory Committee. The source concedes that Locker might have still be drafted in round one given the value of the position, but the source insists that McShay was flat wrong in his assessment of Locker." http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/...sory-committee/

Then in that instance I would think the Bills would not want to trade him.
-
Merriman reported to camp and after the injury and suspension is a shell of his former self. I'm not sure what you mean "do we lose and take the picks." I'm not sure there is a huge market for Evans, he has a large contract that he hasn't performed up to. Also, I doubt the Chargers would give up on McNeil or Jackson as they are their franchise players who they will eventually pay.
-
Jackson has obviously not proven he can play if he was traded for a 6th round pick. Therefore you're trading a 6th round pick for someone else's garbage, and someone that Pete Carroll really knows as he's a USC guy. I'd take my chances next year with the 6th. Plus, has Jackson ever played in a 3-4 before, where are you getting that he is a 3-4 end? He's a 270 lb DE who has 6.5 sacks over two years.

Byrd out indefinitely
Ghost of Rob Johnson replied to tbonestake's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What was the injury from last year? Chan has been very vague on injuries throughout training camp, but the way the article was written i'm not sure where everyone is getting that he is out for the season. It states he "could miss the season opener after having surgery to repair a groin injury." and "Gailey said it's unclear whether Byrd will be ready to play Sept. 12 when Buffalo opens the season against Miami." Didn't Poz just have groin surgery like 3 weeks ago and is playing tomorrow? -
But who do those guys replace? They're likely to keep 4 DEs, maybe 5. They have Stroud, Edwards, Johnson, and Carrington all of whom you would have to guess are valued higher than those two. The Bills also have their own low 1st round bust in McCargo whose value is probably on par with either Balmer or Jackson if they are to keep 5. So they'd be trading a 6th round pick for a guy who will more than likely be cut.
