  1. Tom Cable is a former offensive line coach, hiring him as defensive coordinator would bring no credibility.
  2. The thing that has been driving that in recent seasons has been the money being paid to the #1 overall selection. Perhaps a slotting system for rookie salaries will change that.
  3. Bowers had 4 total sacks through 2 seasons before this year. Fairley 1 sack in 2009, his first year of playing. Seems as though they are 1 year wonders as well. http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/profile?playerId=377881 http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/player/stats?playerId=480377
  4. the 6th round pick is unknown as it is in the 2012 draft, Seahawks will play a 1st place schedule next season. Also, it could be a 5th, we don't know what the conditions were to the conditional pick.
  5. I like Fairley, but wonder if they would have to move to a 4-3 full time with him. Regardless he seems like a 1 gap type of player, which may not be a bad thing considering Williams requires the same type of system. I'd also like to note that he plays bigger than he is, listed at 6'4" 298lbs
  6. Jim Kelly and JP Losman come to mind, plus traded 1st round picks for Rob Johnson and Drew Bledsoe.
  7. Lee Evans not so large contract: 10/2/2008: Signed a four-year, $37.25 million contract extension through 2012. The deal contains $18.25 million guaranteed, including a first-year salary of $11,730,770 and a $3 million roster bonus in year three. Another $3 million is available through incentives. 2011-2012: $3.225 million (+ $1 million roster bonuses), 2013: Free Agent $4.225 Million next season http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_contract.aspx?sport=NFL&id=26
  8. 8/5/2006: Signed a five-year, $29 million contract. The deal includes $13.5 million guaranteed. 2009: $2.355 million, 2010: $2.445 million, 2011: $1.95075 million (Voidable Year), 2012: Free Agent http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_contract.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3691 Averages $5.8 per year, you had the "8" and the "5" right, just in the wrong order. And actually Berry signed a 5 year $60 million deal, an average of $12 million per year. I guess my point is that the price Whitner is asking for, reportedly around $7 million, is not what "elite" safeties are making. The new standard has been set by Berry, Polamalu and Reed's are not comparable as both were signed over 3 years ago. Antrel Rolle signed a contract last offseason giving him $7.4 million per season. What he's reportedly asking for is the new market price for average to good safeties.
  9. Article from October 12th regarding trade: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2010/10/10/bills-didnt-extensively-shop-lynch/?related=1 I think what's missing from Glazer's analysis is that the Bills also got a conditional pick.
  10. But at the time, NO was a Super Bowl contending team, Seattle was thought to be picking in the top ten. So the projected difference from a Saints 3rd and a Seahawks 4th was between 1 to maybe 15 picks. Obviously that hasn't panned out but the Bills still get the extra player.
  11. But the Bills got a 4th and 6th that can become a 5th. I would value 2 picks, esp since at the time Seattle seemed destined to be picking in the top half of the draft and NO in the bottom half.
  12. SF has too much young talent to tank, a serviceable QB (Orton?) could make them division favorites.
  13. He's also making $10 million per year, he should be making plays.
  14. The only way I think Stroud doesn't come back is if the #3 pick is used on a 3-4 DE, so Fairley or Dareus, or if a free agent NT is brought in and Kyle Williams is moved to DE (Solai?). If there was someone better on the roster they would have been playing ahead of him at the end of the season. Perhaps next year he splits more time with an improved Carrington, but I think he'll be on the team.
  15. I'm not sure how much guaranteed money they would want to give to a player with his injury history.
  16. ugh, seeing dick jauron makes me want to vomit, also i'm not sure why these videos are relevant.
  17. Quinn listed at 254lbs unless he's gained some while on his suspension. http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/draft/player?id=26070&_slug_=robert-quinn&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fnfl%2fdraft%2fplayer%3fid%3d26070%26_slug_%3drobert-quinn
  18. 2001? http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/nfl/2001/draft/news/2001/04/21/nfl_trades_saturday/
  19. I dont think Green is the type of guy they like to sign, but they were put into a corner with Butler retiring so abruptly.
