Comparing his combine #s to other ILBs available he actually posted great #s in most categories except for bench, which is the one that can be made better by getting him in the weight room.
Sounds like he is going to be a SS in the NFL. Dont think it's any indication on Whitner, can't see the plan being for a 4th round pick to start in the NFL day 1.
Drafttek had him as the 52nd overall player:

There's no guarantee he would have been there in the 4th or 5th, and if he was their guy I'm glad they got him. And reports like this make me like him more:
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1116449
FS Quinton Carter; DLs Christian Ballard, Cedric Thornton, Jerrell Powe & Lawrence Guy; TEs Luke Stocker, Jordan Cameron, & DJ Williams; OLB Greg Romeus; ILBs Quan Sturdivant, Mark Herzlich & KJ Wright; QBs Tyrod Taylor & Pat Devlin
they have pick #81, not 79, and yes I'd do it. Also, with the added 3rd next year it's way over the value on the value chart, that I realize is not always relevant.
Houston had positive drug test at combine, if you're not smart enough to stop smoking before the combine you're not smart enough to be drafted IMO.
I don't think they go QB the rest of this draft. Buddy said there were only 2 QBs he viewed as franchise types, what's the point of drafting one if he has a low ceiling?
