bingo. he will be AHC much like Lebeau was. if he and edwards can get along, this would be huge. 1.) it gives Edwards another guy to learn from (was edwards not the LB coach while Wanny was HC?) 2.) Gives Wanny the AHC title that a guy in his position has earned 3.) really will give us 2 HCs and allow Gailey to coach up the O and Wanny the D. the fact that this is the first reported place Wanny has gone is a testament to his relationship with Chan. I'm excited at this prospect. Just like Wade or DJ - Wanny is best suited running just the defense. For a division that has some great DC and OC, it be nice to have one on our team... much like Lebeau.

this isn't a bad idea, if he is willing to run some 3-4 as well. I'd love George as our DC and Wannstedet as our Asst Head Coach. I think the 2 of htem could scheme up some good things. Also, Wannstedet would really take the load off of Gailey on the D side of the ball. They worked together in Miami if I'm not mistaken. would love to see this happen....

bulaga was benched at some point this season. anthony davis has been extremely inconsistent this year. Jax plays a 4-3 not a 3-4. alualu is 6'4 304, far, far too small for a 3-4 NT. Carrington, Moats and Troupe all had increased PT as the season went on, not decreased. Throw Antonio Coleman in there too until he was hurt. It's almost like some of you guys just spew BS without knowing anything about football. if you guys watch the bills you will see a few things: 1.) Troupe doesn't get moved off the ball often, but is still struggling to shed blockers. Kyle has been double teamed a ton (the Pats did it ALL game to him, Sullivan is an idiot for not noticing this) 2.) Carrington is going to be very solid, but needs to learn his position more. He saw a lot of increased playing time with Dwan out. Expect him to challenge Stroud next year (if they cant unload stroud for a pick or two to a 4-3 team). 3.) Moats is our new pass rushing OLB. He was given a ot more coverage responsibility as the season went on. Sure, hes about as good at it as Poz at this point, but he's a converted DE. His ceiling is Dumervil basically.

david hawthorne would also be a great option at RILB. I'd love to have that guy covering TEs and russhing on occasion with A Davis basically run stuffing...

Clary or Clabo would be great options at RT. I suspect Clary is the most likely suspect. as for OLB - Kiwanuka would be a great edge rusher, however I think our FO will be happy with Moats there. What they need BADLY is an LOLB and a MLB who can both cover. A Davis is a solid run stuffing LILB and Moats will be our future ROLB, but we need a LOLB not named Kelsay who can cover on passing downs and a RILB who can do the same. Harris would be a good choice there for the inside. as for WR - leave things as is. Easley has a chance to really blossom. Trade Lee fr a 6th and 7th, let Whitnet and Poz walk and bring in Supplemental draft picks, and then use them to trade back into the 1st round late.

for the record spiller had a far better day than FJ with fewer touches. Freddie dropped 2 passes, one for a certain 1st down in the 4th. CJ had just as hard a time as FJ running, but was able to make some catches in open space. In addition, he also had a great punt return. He also had a good seal block on Misi, though Fitz still got sacked due to levitre being late on a pull and reinhart getting blown up. I'm sick of Sully looking at the stat line and not the came. CJ came to play today and is going to be a good player....

FJ isn't getting any younger. He is a the perfect guy for CJ to learn from. Spiller will probably be used the same way next year 8-10 carries a game and 2-4 catches and returns. now in 2 years, he very well could be the featured back. he needs to learn to hit the hole north and south a little more, everyone knows that. there is no way he is near the bust that JS is stating. he's going to be a very, very good player for us.

The best thing is, not 4 weeks ago when the Browns beat the Pats and the Saints he was talking about how good that team was and how it was no longer a winnable game for the Bills. So what, the Bills go and really put a physical whooping on the browns, and suddenly the browns are a bottom feeder? What, all because Colt McCoy didn't play? Does Jerry really think McCoy makes that big a difference in this game? Would Stafford had made that much of a difference in the Lions game? On the contrary - we lost to the Pats with Cassel at QB just as bad as we did with Brady. JS needs to realize that maybe, jusssst maybe, he is putting way more emphasis on QB than he ought. I actually go with the guy in the football business on this, Coach Gailey - a lot of QBs like fitz have played in the super bowl .... in the 90s and 00s - Aikman, Rypien, Hostetler dilfer, brad johnson, O'Donnell, Gannon, Chandler, etc. I'm not saying Fitz is as good as any of those guys but he certainly could be. You know, I think Jerry and WGR are in cahoots - all they can do is talk about a different QB. what' their deal?

1.) on the Steve Johnson tip that Troy intercepted, from my understanding and watching Pitt should have gotten it at the 2. SJ made contact after Polamalu had picked it off. This may not have made a big difference, but you never know. 2.) A lot is made about the SJ drop in OT, however, that was on 1 and 10 at the Pitt 40. we then had a short gain on a Ftiz scramble, and then a breakdown in protection on the "sack" (really a fitz loss on a broken play where he ran). This was crucial. 3.) Kelsay had a great sack in OT, but it would've been nice if he had focused more on really punching that ball out and keeping it away from big ben. in a weird way reminded me of that Bruce sack of Hostetler in the end zone in XXV (where he could have fought more to keep the ball out of Host hands and thus got the TD over the safety). It was like both times the guys were too excited to celebrate and not focused on really going that extra mile. 4.) the duo of Arthur Moats and Coleman remind me a lot of Crowell and Haggan a few years back. Solid ST players who hopefully can become excellent starters at some point (as both those guys did, all be it for haggan in Denver). In addition, the guy I was most excited for is Danny Batten. If he can come back healthy this kid should be a force. Don't be shocked if the bills opt to not resign Poz. i think they've got a good young stable with those 3. 5.) Maybin had 2 good plays out of his 3 snaps. He should have wrapped up big ben on the scramble for 18. He Forced ben back inside where Kelsay whiffed then Maybin reverted to his old self and allowed an OT to lay on him, literally, until Ben rushed by for 18. Of course, after he makes the tackle 20 yds down field his arms couldn't fall back to a normal position by his side. such a strange kid... 6.) Ganther is a really solid football player. I hope we keep this guy. He does everything well - catches, runs, blocks. He has good vision and had a couple of big runs for 2 and 3 yards. he is a nice up the middle bruiser. I think Caulcrick will get cut or PS. 7.) Gailey rarely gets out couched, at least on Offense. Once he gets a feel for what the DC is doing (for hte opposition), he knows where the soft spot is and how to take advantage. the short middle of the field was wide open all day and we worked it a ton in the 2nd half. Props to him. Also - the defense, for its lack of talent, really used a great combination of fronts, moving fomr 3-4 to 4 down to a 6-2 to nickel and dimes. I liked the confusion. 8.) Leodis, not SJ, deserves more crap for this game. He had a wide open path and didn't wait for a block, but everyone is forgetting the fumbled punt that nearly cost us the game. at no point did he ever have 2 hands on the ball. I like his talent, but can't stand his attitude and lack of consistency and focus on the fundamentals. A wounded Terrence McGee is better than Leodis which is pathetic. I'd frankly liek to see more Yobouty.

i just re-watched the 2nd half and this is the carry for 11 yards in OT (or to send it to OT). He cuts to his left at first, the R side pulled to the Left and he cut back to the R where D. Bell was out in front. really nice looking play by Chan.

it looks like a counter play where the Right side pulled and d-bell shoved his block down or FJ just made him whiff and cut back to the R.... im guessing htis was his 11 yard scamper

+1 Of the "best" qb's how many were super hyped coming out? Peyton, Eli and Rivers ? Who else? Not brady, not brees, not mcnabb, warner wasn't, neither was hassleback or romo or any number of pro bowl QBs. but the waiver wire is LITTERED with over-hyped busts as you said - Leinart, Jamarcus, JP, Couch, McCown, Carr, Croyle, even VY has had horrible career stats and been benched a number of times. Guys who succeed at QB are most often QBs who have been able to sit the bench or some stretch of time and marinate or had a good enough squad around them where they weren't the linchpin just another cog in the wheel - see Rothlesiberger and Brady early on. Guys like Rodgers, Pennington, Hassleback, Rodgers - they all developed behind a qb. the route to go is get someone to groom behind Fitz - heck for all we know its Levi Brown. But for now - focus on what really plaques this team - a pass rushing LB and a pass coverage LB, as well as a RT please.... NO qb in the first 3 rounds.... thank you very much.

Happy is an understatement. a few great things to say about him: 1.) The guy is the anti-jauron - he is straightforward and comes off very football smart, not to mention, he's had a few comedic moments 2.) he has done a few of the things he has set out to do - improving 3rd downs, red zone Offense and pre snap penalties 3.) he isn't afraid to game plan around personnel and not fit guys into a "system" 4.) he has somehow, someway kept this team not only in contention with good teams lately, but with beating team they should beat. They've had some "pretty" losses and an ugly win, but they have beaten 2 teams now they are better than 5.) the man looks like he has a plan and he actually appears to have instilled in the players a desire to win and a hope that they can win. we might lose to the steelers next week, but this team hasnt and won't lie down under him. Negatives - 1.) i've rarely seen us run for it on 3 and 2. I am guessing we just aren't a smash mouth enough team to do it 2.) in his PC he seems to really put all the defense on Edwards. Thats fine, except our defense sucks. I don't think Edwards is a bad coach - remember a LOT of us hated Fewells system when he first got here too. The players seem to be picking up what Edwards is trying to do (though its been against bad teams....) 3.) He appears fairly willing to go pass-happy, though it can be stated fitz audibles out of runs at times. thats really it. He is a classy guy who wears his emotions on his sleeves. He is a respectful, hard working, no non-sense kind of coach and I like that. If I had to make a comparison he'd be a cross between dungy (for his faith, preferance for character guys) and Schott (wins everywhere he goes but not hte big one - see Dallas, GT, etc - and works his team and players very, very hard on fundamentals ) - unlike marty in that well he passes like crazy, which is the anti-thesis of marty ball.... ESPN the Mag had a great article a year or two ago about how the best coach for an NFL team is someone on his 2nd stint as an HC in the NFL with a lot of HC experience in other levels. They mentioned Marty Mornehwieg as the next mostly likely to succeed like Dungy, Bellicheck, Vermiel, Levy, etc as a coach who really picks it up his 2nd time around..... Well - Gailey has probably been over-looked but the guys is showing me something. this is still a 2-8 team, but frankly, I feel a LOT better about the direction this team is going then any 7-9 squad under DJ.

Big improvement areas - 1.) pre-snap penalties 2.) season ending injuries 3.) 3rd down conversions 4.) red zone success New areas of weakness - 1.) generating very few turnovers 2.) horrible red zone D 3.) this is unofficial but i see a LOT more PI calls on our defense I feel like (florence esp) 4.) worse pass rush (stating the obvious afet losing schobel) I will maintain the best course for this team is to win enough to pick in the 6-10 range come draft time and get the best LB, RT or pass rushing DE out there. Pass covering LB is still our biggest need as again indicated by a TE having a great game (Gresham). if we pick in the 3-5 range, I'd fully expect Nix to trade down for a few reasons: 1.) salary - we aren't paying top dollar for a questionable talent (unless its Luck) 2.) he has said repeatedly the key to turning around SD was the Manning/Rivers trade 3.) he has a bone for acquiring draft pics side note - expect to see a guy like Ellison net us a late round pick this offseason to a team like the lions, much like the Ko Simpson trade. sorry haven't postd in awhile

I'll make the guess that He'd be just as good as a pass rushing OLB as a DE... maybe not double digit sacks but at least 7 or 8. He was single handedly the biggest reason we got those INTs last year (along with hte facto byrd drops nothing thrown/tipped his way). no one ever gave Schobel credit, btu the guy was our best front 7 player since Ted washington left... hands down. don't give me that fletcher, Takeo, or even Pat williams argument... Schobel was consistently very very very good for a long time. And... man's a class act.

the same thing was said when the texan's passed on bush.... but so far Williams is the WAY better pick....
