  1. this is the important part : "That brewing disenfranchisement keeps popping up at these home games. You can not hear it, if that makes sense. And not just in New England. Thirteen teams have built SOTAS (state-of-the-art stadiums) since 1999; 14 if you include Daniel Snyder's overhauling of FedEx Field in 2004. Each stadium follows a similar let's-rake-in-the-cash blueprint. The first section of seats hug the field. At the top of those sections, the club seats start. That's followed by a phalanx of premium luxury suites. More luxury suites dominate the second section. And the majority of blue-collar fans are crammed into the upper decks. Fundamentally, it's a flawed way to cultivate a home-field advantage; beyond the emotional compromises and festering resentment of the blue-collar fans, the newer stadiums don't reverberate noise the same. Look at Lambeau or Ralph Wilson Stadium -- just rows and rows of fans, one after the other, rising for something like 75 rows before you hit your first luxury box. Watching the Browns-Bills game Monday night, I found myself enjoying the fans as much as the contest itself. Now this was football!"
  2. Um read this column by bill simmons and then tell me the ralph sucks. it's everything football stadiums should be. It is becoming the Lambeau field of the AFC. that and arrowhead still maintain home field advantage: http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story.../partone/081121
  3. F that. lets send it off the north shore of GI and down the falls....
  4. Not likely. 1, he isn't playing on turf all year. but 2nd, he is taller and skinnier and significantly slower/weaker. think of him more like a slower jason taylor than dwight freeny.
  5. I wish i would have broguht the 64/65 AFL championship flag I had above my bed. Granted, my 6'6 seahawk friend would have had to hold it wiht me, but it wouldh ave been better than the McGahee guy...
  6. levi jones would be a great pick and would allow us to have unheard of O-Line depth for this team. I'd feel really, really good about our o-line with him because it gives Bell, Levitre, etc time to develop. We more importantly need a LB. I don't know how this Nic Harris is that we got. HE is 4.78 40, at 6'3, 235. So he is bigger than Ellison and hopefully a little faster. But I am still not thrilled. Guess we will see...
  7. apparently you missed the fact that by drafting 2 guards we can now move 2 of our former "guards" to RT or LT. Chambers is solid at ether tackle, and Butler is big and strong enough to run behind at RT. I don't think it will come to that though. the line is most likely this: LT - Walker LG - Butler C - Hangartner RG - Wood RT - Chambers that is not a BAD o-line. So yes, we improved it without reaching for a tackle which is what you wanted. Wood is a very, very good player that a lot of teams wanted and better than the tackles you mentioned. I am thrilled about him. I also like Levitre because he has the size to be another good OG/OL and was ranked as the highest guard in the draft. Again, the top guard or the 6th best OT? take the best at his position in a case like this. It's exactly waht the bills HAVEN'T been doing. I hate that we took 2 more DBs late, but whatever - if there is one thing this team does well, its develop corners. Think about it, when was the lat time we missed on a CB? the Chris Watson trade with denver? A lot of DBs are necessary when playing the pats, and at least we have a good top 4 in McGee, Leodis, YoBootie and Florence. Corner and one of these shmucks will round that out well.
  8. thats not exactly true. He still is playing behind a suspect O-line. think of this line as the NY Jets front line when they drafted mangold and ferguson 3 years ago. It's going to take time for the rookies to step up and we need to see still how langston hold up long term at LT. I am less concerned about Chambers at RT, he has the size for the position. lets just realize trent still needs time to throw to all these suddenly awesome weapons he has.
  9. nelson it is!!!
  10. i am one of those drunks... shush. if you were here you would understand how awesome and fun it is.... go bills!
  11. Byrd will be a very solid FS for us. I have a few friends with ESPN who are from the Washington State and they say this guy is great. The Ed Reed comparison is obviously premature but he has a knack for hte ball which is exactly what we just lost with Greer. It will be a better move than Ko Simpson at FS. Whitner is not a turnover machine, nor should he be expected to be. He is a strong run supporter and a guy that can hang with RB's and smaller TE's that break out of the back field. thats where he excels. putting a guy with good ball instincts (anyone remember mark kelso?) along side whitner is a great move. I suspect Ko gets cut soon... i hate to say it, but Brandon might be doing some good work as GM, at least i am more impressed than I have been in a few years...
  12. um dude news flash. mckinney is a depth pick. new starting o line is this: LT - Walker LG - Butler C - Wood/Hangarner? RG - Hangartner/Levitre? RT - Chambers this is actually a solid, solid O-line. I think Langston is more than serviceable at LT. Butler is a solid LG, Either of those guys is good at center or RG and CHambers was a very solid RT. All in all, the bills improved their O-line without reaching for a tackle. not to mention, we may have stole a terrific FS. I hate to admit it, but i think Brandon is flashing some football knowledge here. mildly impressed...
  13. read what Peter king says about lower 1st round picks. this is why it was smart for us to do it, and it follows with the patriots in that regard as well. "I think it's hard not to love the Patriots being positioned the way they are -- at overall slots 23, 34, 47 and 58 -- on day one. Increasingly over the years, the value of low first-round picks, and all the picks in the second round, has grown. Someday I've got to study the true impact of the second round versus the first, because as Chicago GM Jerry Angelo told me recently, the value of first-rounders has decreased in his eyes because you can't tell how players will change when they get a boatload of money at age 21 or 22."
  14. Just curious if anyone is planning on waiting in line tomorrow to get tickets and go to the event. I'll be there in a Trent Throwback along with the biggest seahwaks fan (literally, he is 6'6) ever. Just getting a gauge on whether I'll be the only one booing our first pick (who, hopefully won't be pettigrew or a reach for a DB).
  15. Modrak has already 'dissed' past FSU DE's from other drafts that have not cut it in the NFL. I don't think Everette Brown is even on the Bills' radar. Orakpo is a more logical pick, though knowing these guys, they probably have a bone for any PSU linebacker/DE. I'd think Maybe before Brown in their eyes.
  16. "You don't see any elite undrafted pass rushers." two words: james harrison do your homework bud...made steelers as undrafted rookie free agent http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/H/HarrJa23.htm OT is far more pressing for this team than DE, unless we plan on not utilizing our WR corps and getting Trent killed and hoping that one DE makes us a top 10 defense...
  17. worst scenario? we draft a WR, RB and a CB/Saftey..... in reality we probably reach on a DB of some sort - maybe malcom jenkins to play saftey with whitner? i see DJ screwing it up and doing that.
  18. "fleeced" ? you are another uneducated blogger. the difference in talent between 21 and 28 is almost nothing. the difference in contracts is significant. Why do you think NE took ONLY a low, low 2nd rounder for Cassell when they could have got a 1st? because the talent varies so little in that area but the money is SIGNIFICANTLY different. take the 28 pick and save more cash to extend guys like stroud and jackson. thats what the best teams in the league have been doing for awhile... and EVERYONE on this board keeps forgetting we have a GREAT returner instead of roscoe when we trade him. Leodis is phenomenal and McGee is pretty good too if you remember.... stop thinking we are giving him away when we are getting something in return, something we need, which is hopefully more talented linemen. now if we only had a front office that could evaluate football talent to utilize those draft picks... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qBZppozX2WE
  19. when will you understand we have 2 returners as good or better than roscoe? Leodis was THE top returner in all of college ball. why would you hold onto someone you are paying multi millions to when you can get a 4th round pick and use that money towards someone else that can contribute? say throwing it to fred jackson instead? wouldn't you rather give Roscoe's money to Fast Freddie AND still have the top returner on this team (mckelvin) back there? stop looking at roscoe for more than he is - he is donte hall and he will fade away just like dante hall did. he just doesn;t have the size to do anything BUT return punts and kick offs, even though he is phenomenal at that. i love the guy, but with the bills being a small market, you trim from an area of access and you get what you can for him since he is expendable.
  20. who would have thought skooby provided a real link with some information? interesting... get what you can for him.
  21. I went to high school wiht a guy with that name... any chance he is from GI?
  22. for all the crap we give kelsay... Scouts Inc seems to think he is a solid player. Comment: Kelsay is a five-year veteran that has been extremely consistent and durable defender for the Bills. He has average size, good athleticism and plays with a high motor. He is a tough, competitive player who is a sound technician. He has great initial quickness to close ground and get into blockers early in the play. He reads and reacts quickly as well as using his hands effectively to maintain leverage in his gap responsibility. He anticipates well and can gain an advantage as a pass-rusher on long-yardage situations. Kelsay isn't a powerful player, but he has enough strength and uses effective pad level to anchor well versus the run. He is a fluid athlete who uses excellent lateral quickness and agility to chase down plays from the backside. He runs well and shows good range to stay active to the pile. He has a variety of pass-rush moves and counters, but he doesn't reset well if engaged early in the play. He is more of a finesse player than a power defender who is best when on the move. Kelsay continues to be a productive player with effort, instincts, technique and quickness.
  23. I guarantee we take a DB in the late first or early 2nd. this is a bills draft cmon, they do nothing that is rational or makes sense... if history proves correct it will be a reach for a TE, then trade up for an OSU d-back, and then take some mid round lineman and linebackers. hate to be depressing, its just how this teams history has been. Unless Brandon has the balls to actually draft the best available at need positions... why the F have we not signed Jackson when we just gave rhodes 2 years? someone tell me what the hell they are thinking about...
  24. WHAT?! are u crazy? HE is no where NEAR as good as welker. much smaller, and can not handle playing in the slot with LBs that size like Welker. he is a punt return, ala dante hall. we have 2 more of those - McGee and Leodis. Trade from a position of strength...
