The Bills Plan for Remaining In Buffalo
rpcolosi replied to Mr. WEO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
in no way is this what miami is doing because Ralph's wife has no interest in maintaing majority ownership. Ross is bringing in some minority owners to bring Celeb spotlight and pizzazz to the team. sure he gets a few bucks to offset his debt load, but he desires to be majority owner. ralphs wife does not. nor does buffalo have that star power - maybe a few years ago the thought could have been russert, the goos, brian mcknight, ex bills, etc buy a few shares but thats it. if golisano were to own the team its possibly he could opt to do this as a way to give former players some input and increase the national prominence of the team. would be intersting if other teams did it. but no, do not confuse this wiht miami or think it has a shot of hell in happening. our best bet is another team moves to LA, the bills keep sucking so the Toronto experiment fails and Golisano teams up with a jacobs or a rich brother to buy in. -

because fitzpatrick doesn't have anything else going for him - IE accuracy and reading defenses. he's not good. he practiced and played a LOT last year with 2 recievers far far better than Owens and Evans - and he still had a pretty bad season stat wise. trent's weaknesses are mainly mental, which says a lot. he's never been the same since that concussion last year and this one isn't going to help either. I mean, he rarely ran his first 1 1/2 seasons here... now he scrambles like a mad man. its like he is cloning into losman without the cannon and inabilty to get the ball out of his hands...

Dick Jauron's 13-3 season in Chicago....
rpcolosi replied to Lv-Bills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
exellent point. Adam Schefter made a terrific point about the Bills and Seahawks in that teams that get hurt the most frequent and suffer injuries tend to have the worst records. not rocket science. that said, teams with the healthiest, all be it, less talented ones do the best. just see Denver, though mcdaniels probably has a lot to do too. A highly overlooked thing with the bills is that we lost our trainer a few years back to the Bears the year they went to the superbowl. It was the guy before Bud Carpenter and Rusty jones I think. does anyone remember who? i think its imperative we get a trainer in here with a good track record to help keep some of thees guys healthy. even if that means "supplements." hey at least we know they are trying then! ok kidding on the last part... -
Buffalo's soon to be new head coach
rpcolosi replied to SWVABillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
agreed. Fewell has been fine, but it be nice to have some bigger lineman and linebackers. avp might be OK in the future. my guess is ralph will wnat him to stick around in some capacity like JJ interfered to have the OC stay in dallas -

Why are so many people turning a blind eye to Trent?
rpcolosi replied to Rayzer32's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
reality is he played with TWO better wideouts last year in CJ and TJ and had a way, way worse year than Trent did with Lee, and all his check downs.... gosh i feel like i'm taking CRAZY PILLS! -

your rationale is just dumb. as if the qb controls everything that happens on 1st and 3rd downs. there's this thing called a team and that dictates generally what position and yardage you have on 1st and 3rd downs. to be honest, the good teams, on 3rd and 3 or less, they run the ball. that doesn't show up in a qb's stats, does it? -

great points... also, why have we had hamdan these past few years and not at least attempted to develop another qb? -
\ appreciate your thoughts, just disagree on who people would take over trent, thats all. I agree with a lot of it and I think he'd be better served with another team and coaching staff. Its obvious he isnt seeing the field as well as he did earlier in his career and can't feel pressure as well either. my major concern is the play calling, as it has since Dick got here, and before him wiht mularkey and williams. maybe its the OC or lack of a top 10 qb, i can't say... this team's offense has since kelly left, taken on the identity of it's OC. under willams and bledose, we couldn't throw a screen pass to save our life. the idea of throwing to the TE was for naught. Under mularkey and losman it was a solid running game with no ability to consistently pass, though I would have liked to see JP with evans and TO, it would have been interesting...... but now we are with what Schonert has given us - and that has been a series of passing schemes that basically do not use the deep middle of the field (10-15 yds past LOS). The catch by lee today was maybe 10 yards beyond the LOS before he broke it. Until now, the idea of a slant or a 10 yard curl and go was non existent. Do i think that AVP just came up with it? probably not. Its more likely trent doesn't read it. All in all - he hasn't always been a check down guy. I think the system and coach staff has moved us that way. All you have to do is look at Jauron in Chicago. his offense was the SAME FREAKING THING. solid running game, BS passing. Listen to TO for goodness sake - they are going with the plays that are called. I honestly don't think TO and Lee are the first reads on a lof ot them. thats why it's popgun. Watch TO's body language, on 2/3s of hte passing plays he is slouching, knowing he is a decoy or going to block. aghhh im frustrated in japan on a navy base... but hey at least we won

This is based off of today's starting QBs. JMO after glancing down the scores for the NFL. Clearly better than trent - Mannging x's 2, Favre, Brees, Mcnabb, Rothelisberger, Rodgers, Palmer, Schaub, Flacco, Brady, Warner, Cutler, Ryan, Rivers about the same (in terms of current ability - not upside or past skills) - Cassel (dont argue he hasn't done crap without Belli), Orton, Hassleback (shades of his former self), Garrard, bulger (see hassleback), collins (last year was overblown, look at his numbers). clearly worse - russell, stafford, josh johnson, campbell, delhomme, anderson/quinn fiasco, sanchez, and whoever the phins are starting does this translate to more wins? probably not with the current staff. Orton is doing wonders with a better coach and has far greater limits than TE. my point is this. 1.) anyone on here arguing for Fitz needs to look at his career numbers. He is NOT good. Even TE's best games aren't great, but Fitz's are horrible. Read Sulli's last article 2.) With a new coaching staff trent can actually get the chance to throw the slant and plays that focus on the middle of the field 3.) Hope he can man the fort until we DRAFT a good qb... Fitz, Garcia, Quinn are NOT the answer

So how about that meradith kid?
rpcolosi replied to John from Riverside's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
he was a guy i was hoping we would draft. i actually thought it said a lot about the FO to go take him off of GBs practice squad. it means someone in our scouting dept actually watched some college tape. that said, it was cheaper then getting an aging runyan... -
So... maybe Edwards is the problem?
rpcolosi replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
compare edwards season last year with the games fitzpatrick played. neither is stunning, but edwards is noticeably better. its not a question, fitz is NOT good. the people on this blog are complete morons or just football inept if they think he is better than TE. I'm sorry, I'm not even a TE fan, I just know a decent QB vs a bad one. on a side not - david carr looked good behind a good o-line today, which shows the importance of the trenches yet again. If we do have a good o-line in the future, it would make it imperative we draft a good, young signal caller or bring someone in. -
back to the original point - whats up with roscoe? also 3rd and 2 we should be running...

rpcolosi replied to Glass To The Arson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
you guys are idiots. trent was 5-5. he would have played well against a blitzing team like this. the difference was new plays - ie the slant. Trent also was throwing often to Lee and TO early before he got hurt. its the play calling and schemes changing. fitz is not nearly as accurate, though it was a good deep ball that got overturned... TE is not great, hes avg at best. but he's the best bet we have right now. its not fitz, its not jeff garcia, its not brady quinn... -
does anyone have a link, or has anyone heard if he's been traded? This would indicate a smart front office, so I doubt its true, but here's hoping. and for anyone who says fitz should start over trent, you are dumb. Trent would have won this game for us. he was 5-5 before going out. Fitz played pretty poorly, but Sanchez was REALLY bad. we won because our secondary played well, that is it. fitz was about as good as our run defense.

"are having trouble filling Ralph Wilson Stadium (despite the sellouts in 2008 it was often a close call to meet the television blackout deadline for the local market" correct me if i am wrong but this is just BS. sure, they always struggle to sell club seats (horrible idea) but thats it. they don't have trouble selling out when their season ticket sales INCREASE annually. i like Steve Forbes, but these online editors are morons. as for the debt/value stat, its pretty unclear in their explanation. The jets and giants are at the end because they have significant stadium debt with the new one being built. The vikings are down there because their owner has a hard team even paying for the interest on this $660million dollar mortgage for the team (that is changing with favre I am sure). Being that Ralph has no mortgage on the team and no stadium debt, I am shocked its not as low as the Raiders, Rams or Bengals - all teams that have no ownership debt and little to no stadium debt. Frankly i can't come up with a good answer as to why our debt would be near $120mil. anyone have a good answer?

WHOA Trent PWNED Brady - check it out
rpcolosi replied to SouthGeorgiaBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
newsflash - screen plays are BIG plays when run right. you dont need to throw it 40 yards for a 40 yard gain. i know its shocking. -
newsflash - ellison was a beast last night. he was all over the field. i never liekd him. but he was great in training camp, and sure as heck made af ew great stops last night. don't hate.

ok i can't handle this. the people on this board are just plain nutz. so here are some facts about good quarterbacks and "checking down." please read this if you are a trent hater to get your facts straight about his apparent "checkdown" or training wheel status. Read, learn, and get behind him and this team. and inregards to someone elses post with Sanchez and Flacco see points 1 and 2: 1.) Sanchez had one game that he played well in, behind a far superior O-line and a far worse opponent than NE. 2.) Flacco is much like Rothlisberger - balt rides a strong D and good running game, and limit his throws per game, reducing his on field command, but allowing him to take 3-4 scripted shots down the field. 3.) Trent runs an offense. He played against a superior front 7 than either of the prior mentioned QBs. He played behind a far more inexperienced O-line. He did EXACTLY what most QBs would do in his situation which is take what the D gives you. If anyone understands how defense works, then you would know Belicheat put his team into a similar cover 2 that the bills play. He kept 2 safties on top and essentially doubled the wideouts all day. That leaves your TE, RB and slot WRs. That takes away your 30-40 yard "bombs." So, by the irrationality of this board, if Trent doesn't throw outside or deep to TO and Lee because its taken away, then he is a checkdowner, and if he does and throws an INT, then he is careless and a bad decision maker. 4.) Watch a full game of Peyton manning please. rather, lets look at one full season of his as well... Tell me how many times he "checks down." I'm going to venture a guess and say at a minimum 1/2 the time his passes go to slot WRs, RBs or TE's. Last night, Trent threw 2/3's based upon a system that dictated such. He did the right thing. Here is your Bill Polian built (thanks again Ralph for letting him walk) 1999 colts and yes, you can pick any of the colts season, this is just a random one i chose: Manning Completions : 331 Rec by top TE/RB/ slot (3rd)WR : 158 rec by top 2 WRs : 157 here's 2008 - Manning Completions: 371 Rec by top 2 WRs (I included 1/2 Gonzo, because he played outside 1/2 the year too) - 175 Rec by slot wr (other 1/2 of Gonzo), top TEs and RBs: 203 YEs i know this doesnt exactly add up , im not counting every single pass to a WR, TE, or RB, i just counted those who had a significant number (5 or more). http://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/clt/2008.htm moral of the story - get behind trent for the year, and trust that he will take the shots when they are available!
