  1. we fired williams and pittsburgh had an opening so he left. plus mularkey probably wanted his own staff. don't think it was anything bad at all. if anything it had to do with donahoe possibly.
  2. I think, after sitting out 7 games, that he is ready to come back with a whole new staff. I'd be all for it....
  3. You beat me to it by a few minutes! My friend at ESPN just sent me the same thing. He's checking with schefter to get confirmation...
  4. I didn't see a ton of Levitre at LT - did he see any good competition? If he is solid, then shifting wood to LG is a good idea... i like nasty, mean guards who will tick off nose tackles. thats what this team freaking needs! put some fear into Kris Jenkins and Wilfork already...
  5. I'm going out on a limb and saying Nix had a lot to do with drafting Levitre and wood. I'll chalk byrd up to the other guys, since they hit on all DBs except Ko and Donte. Hangartner was the best FA pick by John Guy which didn't happen until Nix got here either... again, coincidence? the inside of this line is solid. I do not like D Bell at LT and am not a fan of Butler at RT due to injuries. If they can shore those 2 up and stay freaking healthy, even Trent might look good next year.
  6. my money is on Modrak being the guy that doesnt like marty. I have a feeling their philosphies don;t mesh on personnel at all.
  7. Did anyone else notice that Mort said Marty "has a hunger" to get back to coaching, despite him constantly saying no? yes I still want Schott, only if Cowher is unavailable or wants $10mil/year. I'd rather have Marty at $6mil. $13mil wrapped up in coaches would take away money we could throw at Kelsay... c'mon now! “Nix has a healthy relationship with Marty Schottenheimer from their days together in San Diego, so Marty certainly would give Cowher a favorable endorsement on the new Bills GM – if Marty himself isn’t a candidate,” said Mortensen. ”And, yes, Marty has the hunger to coach again, no matter what he’s stated publicly, sources said.” I've said it for 2 years now... We need Schottenheimer back in Buffalo (***if cowher won't)
  8. can anyone tell me what a stealth meeting is? does this mean it was done without the media knowing? goodness.. mort is such a whacko haha
  9. maybe he realized like we all did there are maybe 2-3 former HCs out there worth a damn.... if we are looking at coordinators i'd like russ grimm along with schot or rivera. Reasons to like these guys: I like rivera because he is a 3-4 guy i like schot because he runs the effing football on 3rd and 3 which no one else in this league does I like Billick because he has won with great defense and running the football (even if he said he knew qbs, haha) so what can we take from Nix wanting to interview these 3 guys? he cares about running the football and great defensive, specifically the 3-4 since that is the trademark on all of these guy's teams. what is there to NOT like about this? This is EXACTLY what we should have in buffalo.
  10. they are one of, if not the best at running the football. something i'd love for this team to trademark.
  11. my thinking is this is more because of Ozzie Newsome. He is a great GM and has hit on a lot of his defensive draftees. But he has whiffed on his skill position offensive players. Whether it was trading for Willis or drafting Boller, his only real qb was a FA signee (mcnair). He hit on Heap, but really no one else. Actually, no i am wrong - he hit big time on J. Lewis and Priest Holmes. Just nothing in way of QB or Receiver. My guess is this is what hurt Billick the most offensively, and he just could not turn Boller into something he wasn't - which is an above average qb. I'd be interested to see if Billick could do anything with Brohm/Trent. Trent has more tools then Boller did and his issues seem to be entirely en la cabeza. Brohm we know nothing about. in addition, those raven teams usually ran the ball a ton which is out strength. Billick, and I am certain nix, understand the need for great O linemen. Real quick - i also don't think it surprising the moment Nix comes to this franchise we hit on 3 of our first 4 draft picks. I am also not shocked we suddenly took good offensive linemen with him on board. He knows football. Maybe Modrak always liked those guys but needed to convince Jauron and Guy as well.... Either way - I think we are in good shape... assuming he fires Guy ASAP.
  12. right.... we all know RW interviewed him like this "Russ, i want Buddy to run this show." well, mr. wilson legally you need to interview someone who is a minority. "OK Russ, send in Guy." end of story. ill stake $100 it went down like this....
  13. I've posted numerous times the past 2 years about this and I'll say it again. this team needs a guy like Schottenheimer as head coach. I don't care if he is old and retired. the dude can flat out coach and bring hte best out of his players. Getting him in here for a few years with Brian and eventually letting the kid take over isn't a bad idea. We all know Schot has never been to the big dance and has a bad playoff record but so what at this point. Nix is right its a watered down league these days... some of those Schottenheimer teams would do extremely well in today's NFL. The concept of running on 3rd and 3 has all but escaped NFL offenses these days (unless its a draw play from a shotgun). Some martyball might do wonders... and I know it would go over well with this fan. here's a link to an article regarding him and nix... http://nbcsports.msnbc.com/id/22333434/
  14. I love the guy. But watching him sweat and wipe his brow is freaking hilarious.... oh and I love the buddy nix hire. I was hoping last year we had made him GM. He's a proven winner. Sullivan needs to get his head out of his a$$... http://www.buffalobills.com/media-lounge/v...bc-34296b054080
  15. wgr is a half assed attempt at a sports station. they should let ESPN come in and run the show and expand to cover all WNY sports - including big 4 college basketball, UB football, NU hockey as well as the Sabres. instead they are a two bit run operation that doesnt have enough pro stories to keep busy with...
  16. also - here's my link where Wade basically admits his mistake in choosing Rob over Flutie... ugh i miss flutie.... http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-game-highlig...ers-Rob-Johnson
  17. correct. we also had a worse RB situation then we do now. oh super bowl winner antwain smith... And I still have never once heard validation that RW made Wade put him in or that wade wanted Flutie. Its always been people gossiping saying "well ralph gave him money, etc etc." If someone has factual evidence or a link I'd love to see it. Lets also not forget RJ led us on a game winning drive and won us a playoff game.....until we decided to lose it.
  18. so a lot of you know by now I have some good friends at ESPN, and my college buddy, who works with Kiper, Schefter and Olney also is the prime guy with rumor central for hte NHL, NFL and MLB. Rumor central stuff is generally pretty accurate. You won't see them post much BS on there. For example... - a few weeks ago you saw something about Tyke Tolbert going to LSU come up based on a completely untrue website. Multiple news outlets, including the buffalo news, reported it from that website. Of course it came out later that it was in no way true. Rumor Central was quick to not post anything on it, knowing that hte source is complete bunk. and sure enough it was. They have at least a few pieces of credible evidence if they speculate. However, this post in regards to the bills seems pretty blah - just listing names that we will forever be attached to. The one we need is Kolb, Croyle or troy smith.
  19. did you just refer to yourself as Ice? Really? stop... please...
  20. no thats you being an idiot. he was a rookie then. he ran a good offense when boller was gone and is a solid prospect. if we could get him for a 6th or 7th its a great pickup. he is mobile and has a cannon and unlike vick he's a passer first, runner second. i like the thought of him on the cheap. at the least he's better than the harvard grad...
  21. Completely Agree... this is a no brainer. He is better then previous OL coaches promote (ie Mike Tice). With a good D-coordinator off that same tree I'd be happy. A great O-line makes an average QB look awesome (matt hassleback, matt schaub, etc.). Greg Gabriel and Russ Grimm would make this a merry christmas for me...
  22. I want ot see him against the Indy second string. with our 2nd string OL this would be a decent comparison and showcase his winter skills. pleaes, dear God, let Fitz be hurt still...
  23. make it three. We owe it to him to try and trade him in the offseason if we don't somehow become competitive between now and august. the guy is a heck of a ball player. I've always said he reads the run better than probably any DE in teh game but never gets credit because its not a "sack." He's just a football smart player with crazy skills. Put him on those Giants teams the past 4-5 years and he easily is talked about like Kampan or Jared Allen. it also isn't shocking his best years came when Pat Williams, Sam Adams and now Marcus Stroud have been here... DTs make your DEs look a lot better.. is this too common sense? or are our FO people too stupid to realize these things... oh well...
  24. he's still at 67west...
