Poyer isn’t done after this year. You save money there. You save money by cutting White after June 1st. You can easily restructure Diggs and Allen to signing bonuses to save money. You can restructure guys like Morse, Von, even Adams if you trade for him to create more space. again, there is always a way to make it happen. The Saints last year were 100m over the cap and they were still making some moves. It’s always possible. Just depends on how much you want to kick the can down the road. I’m perfectly fine with continuing the kicking until Allen shows he doesn’t have it anymore. Within 2 years you could easily cut or restructure even more guys to make it work also.

The problem is that the Bills are likely not nor should they, sign Hyde. They shouldn’t keep Poyer as he has looked old and slow. Jones is old and eventually will hit Father Time, especially after a season ending injury. White is getting older and now is the perfect time to walk away from him and save millions. Davis has proven he’s nothing special. A decent #2 but that’s about it. Floyd is in a one year deal anyway. It would be criminal to pay AJ a big money 2nd contract at this point. I guess what I’m saying is, I really don’t care about the defense. They will be just fine. You apparently don’t need top 10 defenses every single year or we would have won a trophy by now. For once, spend some resources in the offense and make teams try and stop you. Or maybe, just maybe, we make McDermott earn his money as a defensive guru and utilize what he has. Cause he sure as hell doesn’t do anything for the offense. Besides, they are likely going to use 4-5 d stats picks on defense this coming year anyway. and lastly, I don’t care about next year. It’s not next year right now. Right now this offense and team needs a boost. Something to get them over the top. Make the moves now and figure it out later. It can be done. Stop wasting Allen’s prime years and go after it for once.

Hyde can go Jones can either sign a friendly deal because of his age or be replaced with a rookie or street FA Floyd isn’t needed if we expect Von to be back AJ can go unless he signs a team friendly deal Jackson is no loss imo. He’s no different than Wallace. Tre will either be back and healthy or we can rework his deal or cut him for savings Rapp won’t be too much and can replace Hyde/Poyer (who I expect to be gone also) Davis is no loss if we have Adams. they can find ways to make it work is what I’m saying. again. My argument wasn’t about making it work money wise. I was simply saying that’s the reason why you never see multiple top 10 WRs on the same team. Because simply CANT make it money wise. It has nothing to do with making players happy and feeding them the ball. As it is, 6m this year and 16m next year is completely doable imo for him. You simply find a way to make it work and go on from there. After 2 years when it doesn’t work you see where you are and re-adjust

Bears CB Jaylon Johnson Requests to be Traded
mrags replied to ExiledInIllinois's topic in The Stadium Wall
My guess is. If they made this trade already, they have a deal in place for Johnson that gets them back some draft capital -
He went there to play with one of his best Friends Derek Carr. Who they shipped out after Adam’s being there with him for 1 season. So not only are they a terrible org, they pissed him off by letting go of one of the reasons he went there to begin with. and again. The argument isn’t about Adam’s and his character. It’s about why you don’t see 2 top 10 paid WRs on the same team. It’s because it’s too much salary cap for GMs to feel comfortable with at one position. It’s not because they don’t want 2 top 10 talents at the position because they believe they can’t make them both happy.
-
Well I agree that you almost never see top 10 WRs on the same team. I don’t think it’s because you can’t make both of them happy. It’s because 2 top 10 paid WRs would take up too much cap space on the same roster. Which wouldn’t be an issue with Adams here. At $6m this season and another $16m next season it’s very feasible. After that I’m not sure.
-
I agree with that 100%. It at the same time I really think he feels a little heat and that he might feel he needs to make some kind of move. Again it would go to what Beane always says. If it makes this team better but doesn’t destroy the possibility of the future of this team then it’s something to consider.
-
Not saying it wouldn’t be. Just thinking they’d want something back worth something to them in the figure. If they see Meyers as a starter and want to pair someone with him they might have ideas about that moving forward and signing him long term. yes I agree with you that id love to keep them all. But if the choice was Gabe until the end of this year and then he’s gone, or Adams for the next 4. I’m taking Adams all day long.

Coming from a defensive coach it’s not a good thing. True. But very sad
-
I would not. And I understand that’s the point of the thread. It’s in my hands and what would I DO. Of course I would keep the Bills here. I’m just playing devils advocate here. Stating what I thought would be the pretty obvious answer that there’s no chance in hell that the nfl would allow there to not be a team in the NYC area. Calling them a NY team. In that case, I’d imagine the Jets get NJ. The Giants get NY. And Buffalo ends up in like Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, or Delaware.
-
Yeah. Except they are both called NY teams not NJ teams. And there isn’t a single chance that there wouldn’t be a team in NYC
-
Do I have to be the terrible person here in thinking that the Bills would not be the team to stay in NY? I firmly believe the Jets would end up being New Jersey and the Giants would end up being NY. They’d probably ship the Bills off to Alaska or something
-
They used to. Not sure if they do anymore. I haven’t looked for it in a while. Basically a running ticker on the Jumbotron every time a false start happens.
-
Yes. I understand he was not brought here specifically for that. But he did do it previously. It would be dumb if they didn’t take it into account. regardless, it’s not the argument. The argument is spending money and roster spots on guys for special teams. A facet of the game that the league is systematically removing. save the money. Save the roster spaces. Get some kick &$$ kickers and punters that regularly kick it out of the back of the end zone and take your chances. yes, I know special teams with downing punts is a big reason for our success last night. Whoop-de-do
-
Well. It’s basically the same thing. The argument that someone isn’t good enough for a skill position. I have been against him from the start. So far last night was the only time I’ve been impressed. Unfortunately half of his decent returns were negated by flags. I don’t remember who got the flags, but I hope it wasn’t other special teamers brought on this team taking up roster spots by skill players.
-
They couldn’t cut him this season even if they wanted to. After what happened last year it’s almost impossible to not look like a bunch of jerks if you cut him. But yes, he’s pretty much not that good. Probably worthy of a backup before the injury, but post injury he’s been hesitant and not very good at all. My opinion, he will get a shot to make this team next season but will not make it on the roster by the end of pre season. Maybe he makes it to the practice squad but that’s about it.
-
Well. We had a punter that was able to kick it out of the end zone also but something happened to him. That’s over half the teams play. If you want to argue the use of special teamers in the return game. I have the same argument. Harty is getting paid over $5m a year and hasn’t done anything worthwhile at WR all year (minus a TD that just about anyone could have had). Other than last night he hasn’t done anything particularly impressive in the return game. And half the returns he made last night that were decent were called back due to penalties. Better off saving the cap, and roster space for someone like a decent WR. Having literally anyone out there waving their hand and letting the punt go into the end zone.
-
The correct answer is to plan to kick the ball out of the end zone 100% of the time. This ensures you don’t give up a big play on game day. However, the kicker imo is that it enables you to spend less resources on special teams players like Matakevich, Neal, Kumerow (I know not this season) and utilize the roster spots, as well as salary cap, towards players that excel at skill positions rather than teams. If you think of it this way, if you spent the cap and roster space you are spending on Matakevich, you might actually have someone at LB in case of emergency when someone like Milano goes down and Williams isn’t playing as well as you hoped. Or for when you lose White for the season, Benford for a game, Elam can’t do anything right apparently, and then you are forced to sign a guy that’s been retired for a year in Josh Norman.
-
At this point. Hes not as good as either Epenesa, Groot, or Floyd. Hell, even Jonathan might be better at this point. But he’s gotta get in there and get reps. I feel like he’s getting closer to getting there. He actually sniffed the QB a few times tonight.
