thank you. Again. Regardless of his familiarization with reporting, or journalism, he's still a POS Asshat. He speculates the same as anyone here or any other forum. Contributing to that. Your point about how the media doesn't always know more than us fans do. You couldn't be any more correct about that. For example, I listen to WGR, A LOT!!! Regardless how I or anyone else feels about them and their knowledge, I still love to hear sports and that's where to get it. They many times Receive their Insode information from guys like TG and other reporters like Jerry Sullivan or Paul Hamilton. And yet I consistently hear things here on TbD hours before I ever do on WGR. Just proves your point further. -
Jairus Byrd [was Jarius Byrd]
mrags replied to Iowabillsfan4life's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
thats the common lack of sense that the "Ralph is Cheap" crowd has that doesn't like that you make sense of an argument. -
what if we lose Burd to multiple draft picks? There's a difference between losing Byrd for nothing and losing him for two 2nd round picks, etc. And at the end of the day, we've got to have another QB in the roster. I'd assume that Tuell becomes practice squad guy and we keep EJ with Thad. Still need someone else. Vick would be a solid backup/3rd stronger. How much was Kolb making? Is imagine it would be less than Kolb but not 1.25m. Somewhere in between. Which for the QB position, is about right.
-
Lol. You said Knee-J. That was funny. I'd agree that the Bills could do much worse. They could use a veteran at backup. I actually like Thad but Vick in the short term is better. The guy can make enough plays with his feet to keep is at or above .500 over the course of 4-6 games if "Knee-J" goes down again. It would also give us a veteran to come in if EJ faulters and cannot grasp the pro game the way he should be as a 2nd year guy. Gives us a season of misery for sure but at this point, it will be anyway of EJ either goes down or cannot compete. Then next season we keep Vick on the roster and draft whatever kid that is projected in the 2nd round but we take at 8-10 in 2015.

I'll agree with some of that Tasker. I definately agree with yiu that Byrd needs to be resigned. He's not just an important piece. He's arguably our best player on both sides of the ball. Only Mario, Kyle, Marcell can challenge him for that IMO, with Wood and Glenn being about as close as you can get on offense. I agree that resigning good players is something that we need to do and not let them walk. I also agree that the players we've let go of in the past may not have been as good as their contracts. Overpaying is all a matter of opinion, IMO. Sure we overpaid for Fitz with comparing what he did for us and how long we got use out of him. But all in all it wasn't much of an overpaying compared to the rest of the starting QBs in the league. It was right up there in the middle of the pack or 2nd half. When factoring in his win/ loss record, you'd want him to get more but at the same time, guys on worse teams with lesser records were making just as much. Don't blame Fitz or the Bills organization for the going rate for quarterbacks or any other position for that matter. It is what it is. People want to be upset at how much professional sports players, actors, CEOs make in the world these days. We are to blame. The fans. The ones that pack every single movie theatre, and sports complex. It's big business now. It's not just a game or a movie. It's part of society. We cannot blame the players for their salaries. Don't be upset with them for being overpaid if that's the going rate. -

fyi I wasn't arguing Mario. I was simply stating my argument using Mario because TaskersHhost was using him as a point that we overpay for players. My opinion on Levitre, Is that he is very good and he was definitely missed this season. But he didn't do much this season on his new team. You may take him over Stevie and that's fine. The love for Stevie on this board is definately not shared. That's another thread all together (and there's a new one usually every other week). I won't take away from how good Levitre is. I wanted him, but am very pleased we didn't overpay for a guard. Stevie on the other hand is not being paid like he's a top 5 or 10 player of his position either. It seems people have an issue personally with players like Stevie , Chad Johnson, Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Ray Lewis, Darrell Revis, Phillip Rivers. These players are cocky and they are vocal about it. Everyone loves to throw it in their face when there's failure but never give them praise when they succeed. It's human nature. We want our heroes, sports players, politicians, etc to be humble. Everyone loves to say they want the flamboyant leader but when they get him, they always wish he would just shut his mouth. You know what changes how we feel about these people in any position??? Winning. -

believe whatever you want. The past gas absolutely nothing to do with our future. Just because there were players in the early 2000s that weren't resigned doesn't mean we won't resign them now. Freddy Jackson, Stevie Johnson, Eric Wood, Craig Urbik, Kyle Williams, Leodis McKelvin, Terrance McGee would all disagree with your argument. Players that have not been resigned, many of them fall under the category of overpaid for their services, much like the Mario Williams argument that your bring up about the Bills. Levitre, Pozlusny come to mind. They were not worth being paid top pay at their positions and I don't know about you, I'm glad we didn't overpay for their services. I couldn't imagine the hysteria of paying a guy like Poz or Levitre $50million when we all complain about Stevie Johnsons $36m. On that note, you can't have it both ways. Complain about players that we did resign for too much that aren't worth it (Stevie for example) and yet complain that we didn't overpay and lost a player "again because were cheap" (Pozlusny). Me personally, and I think many here can agree that the Bills have been pretty level headed about who we didn't resign, even though we would have liked to, are glad we didn't overpay. Then there are other players we didn't resign because they were just too damn old or constantly injured. Pozlusny also falls under this category. The guy missed more games than he played in whole he was here. I don't want to overpay for a player that we can't rely on, on game day. Tikeo Spikes, London Fletcher, Jason Peters also fall under this category. Although they have or did play for years after their release from this team, doesn't mean they weren't risks because of their ages or injury history. London Fletcher is an enigma. He doesn't make sense in the NFL. It's about on point with how long Brett Favre played. Again, I think many people here would agree not to pay, or overpay for a player that is on the wrong side of 30 or has many questions with stating healthy. Then there's the trading players for minimal reimbursement. If you are one of the people that really wanted to keep Marshawn Lynch, then you won't care what I say anyway. But a man that had 2 run ins with the law in 2 years, Already suffered a 4 game suspension, and was on track for another (which he is still fighting in Seattle now) is not the kind of guy yiu want in your team. The stupidity factor is no different from the injury aspect. You cannot rely on your player to be there on Sunday because of stupidity. Other players that fall under this would surely be Jason Peters. Site he was good, but at the end of the day, if you can't rely on him to be there on game day (injury, holdout, etc.) then you don't overpay for him or count on him. You get what you can get for him. Which we did. And then on to the argument that only the Bills suffer from these instances. Any person who thinks only the Bills have troubles with these issues is being silly. Every team loses players. Players they draft and homegrow for thier futures only to lose them. Jay Cutler, Payton Manning, Brandon Marshall, Mario Williams, Julius Peppers, Clinton Portis, Richard Seymour, Alex Smith, Matt Flynn, Anquan Boldin, Wes Welker, Reggie Bush, Terrell Owens, Champ Bailey, Randy Moss, Ronnie Brown, Tyson Clabo, Tony Gonzales, Antonio Cromartie, Santonio Holmes, Nnamdi Asomugh, Derrell Revis. And those are just off the top of my head over the past recent years. But if you and Tim Graham want to keep going on thinking that only the Bills are guilty of this, then have at it. Enjoy your Monday. and then there's that. -

Spoke with my season tix rep today about the HOF game and enshrinement ceremony because I can't stand people from Ohio (nothing personal to you Yolo). In the conversation, I asked her about when the invoices would be going out. She said they are expected soon. That procing has not been completed. She said there hasn't been much of a change in over 3 years. Last year for example, the upper deck tickets were decreased. Some sections stay, and others may change. But that's not the best part about this conversation. MULTIPLE TIMES throughout the conversation, she said the reps inside the organization have all speculated that the reason for the delay was because of the Toronto Series. MULTIPLE TIMES she commented that ticket prices would surely increase if there were 8 or 9 games on the schedule. To me this says there is talk about the Bills doing away with the Toronto Series (just as much my reps speculation as it is ours here). Take it for whatever it is and however you want. But I'll be enjoying an 8th home game this year at the updated stadium with new naming rights. Enjoy. -

theres no way. Tix were about $50 when I went for Ralph and Bruce Ok. I just called and I swear the people of Ohio are the biggest idiots on the planet. Way to dumb down the human gene pool. I got bounced from the NFL HOF to the special NFL group handling sales, back to the HOF, back to special group. I was asked if I needed a hotel and then they said the price was a 3 day package for $500+. It was impossible to understand what this idiot was saying because he must have had the guy sitting next to his cubicles "marbles" in his mouth as he spoke. He must have also been worried about germs on his own phone because it sounded like he was talking through a towel wrapped up on the phone. The only thing I could make out was that it was a 3 day package and then I couldn't even find out of it was with a hotel or not. It's sounding like so gel tickets will not be offered for this event at this time. Sales open on March 25th to the public that's not paying for a huge package. I can only assume (based on my last experience with Ralph and Bruce) that this $500+ package is the meet and greet, dinner, autograph signing, induction ceremony, and hall of fame game.
-
yes. Last time we had one, Wood, Maybin, Levitre all played i can't imagine it being bigger than Kelly's but I'd bet it will be the next biggest buffalo invasion Canton has seen since. Ralph and Bruce were huge but this being our last one as far as we can tell for a while, I'd expect a huge turnout.
-
there will most likely be separate tickets for the game than for the HOF induction ceremony FYI. Pretty site that's what happened when we had our last one with Ralph and Bruce. It's been so long I can't remember.
-
No it doesn't. Only home games. This is neither.

Well all be watching the 8th game from the stands of "Greg Williams Stadium" this season. The name change is inevitable. I'll be wearing a new Bills hat to celebrate the game. Go Bills just because Ralph hired his niece years ago doesn't mean she has any decision making ability. I got hired by one of my best friends years ago at an old job. He didn't run me. I didn't listen to him. And business got along just fine. Just saying. And I highly doubt she's got anything to do with ticket increases. But nice try. Ralph is cheap, same ole Bills, we always let our good players walk kind of attitude you have there. -
Who is your "I knew we should have drafted him" pick??
mrags replied to BringBackFergy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
naw, not enough gang activity in Buffalo to keep him happy. -
whats funny is that's exactly what happened last year. Not to toot my own horn or anything but I called it all offseason and everyone thought I was an idiot.
-
exactly. Glad you are able to realize what I meant.
