Jefferson gets paid: 4yr, $140m contract signed

lol. Diggs the head case since he was in Minnesota. You’re comparing him to Jefferson? The guy barely broke 1k yards with the Vikings. JJ is putting up nfl record numbers since he was a rookie. -

Cool. I’m not arguing for the fact that he’s on the Vikings. I’m arguing for an elite WR in this team. With Josh Allen as his QB Oh I’ve been around. I’ve had season tix and missed 4 games from 06 through 2020. So I’d say I’ve been around and watching. And no. I’m not enjoying this ride anymore. Not when it ends exactly the same way year after year. I’ll go as far as saying this, I don’t think we make the playoffs this year, but I’ll bet you a beer that if we do, we lose again in the divisional round, or against the Chiefs -

Cool. We’ve been there. Consistently losing in the 2nd rd if the playoffs. Enjoy the ride I guess. 👎 -

Won’t know until you actually start drafting them with your future HOF QB throwing him the ball. -

Except for us, we DO HAVE ALLEN. So what does that mean for us? -

Well. With rookie contracts on Kincaid, Cook, Shakir, Coleman, likely 3 starting OL, Benford, Bernard, Rousseau. It would be the perfect time to go all in for someone like Jefferson. Assuming we were stupid and overpaid for guys like Miller, Oliver, White. And then take massive cap hits on Diggs, even more by trading him and assuming more of his cap number to not play for us. and fwiw, I’m not advocating paying for Jefferson at that number. But I am advocating for actually finding that guy, or multiples that are even 75% as good as him in the draft, on rookie contracts. But you can’t do that when you don’t actually draft any. And yes, I’m aware we drafted Coleman. Great. One early WR in the last 7 years under this regime. -

DO YOU BELIEVE JUSTIN JEFFERSON ON THIS TEAM RIGHT NOW WOULD BE A BAD THING? that’s all you need to ask yourself and if the answer is yes, I don’t know what to tell you. Your the only one. -

Yes. You can say that for literally any position with the exception of QB in the NFL. But the point is you need a QB that is good enough, and you need to give him weapons to throw to and actually be effective. -

Yup. He’s great. Maybe we should trade Allen for him. Hell, if he was still in the Vikings and we offered them Allen for JJ AND Cousins they would not only do it in a heartbeat they’d probably throw in an extra first rounder because we’re so stupid they would feel bad for us. -

Cool. Did he have Josh Allen as his QB? Was he on a supposedly far superior team like the Bills? It’s so hard to tell from the people on this msg board sometimes. -

6? They could get 20 of those guys and it still wouldn’t matter. -
Which is one of the reasons why I’ve supported taking one of the best ones in the draft in rd1 before. You get him for that 5th year option which is huge. And if he’s really good and still producing you can always franchise tag him at least once. Hell, by then Allen’s career will likely be close to over.

So stupid. They could have easily replaced him with guys like Mack Hollins, Justin Shorter, Chase Claypool, MVS, and Kalil Shakir.- 208 replies

Gronkowski, Kelce, Graham, Ward - Why do fans want want a Randy Moss type?
mrags replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don’t like Coleman. And I think he will be about what Gabe Davis is. But even if he was a first ballot HOFer his first season it still wouldn’t change the fact that I think they need more weapons and should be surrounding Allen with talent. What we’re doing right now is no different than the Packers treated Rodgers in his final years. to answer your question? There were plenty of WRs I would have taken in rds 2-7. And I specifically wasn’t asking them to go rd 1 and rd2 for WR. Or since they traded back, multiple 2nd rounders, or even rd 2 and rd 3. But there was quite a bit of talent on the board and they passed on them for guys that are going to end up being backups to the LB group, a 2nd or even a 3rd RB on this team, a rotational at best DE, a rotational backup to Oliver. plenty of names late in the draft that had some high marks. I get it, 31 other teams passed on them until someone finally took them in xx round. The point is, none of those other teams have Josh Allen. None of those other teams traded away their best WR, and let their 2nd WR walk in FA. None of those other teams were pinning their hopes that Kalil freaking Shakir would somehow end up being a 1,000 yard guy, and somehow Mack Hollins would do something he’s literally never done. This feels like last year when we pinned our hopes on Harty and Sherfield. Except this year we don’t have Davis or Diggs. im fine with them completely overhauling the WR toom. It needed it imo. But let’s not blow sunshine up each others asses I’m thinking that they did Allen any favors just yet. They replaced like 400 targets with some has beens, some never was’, and some rookie that was at best everyone’s 4th pick and hope that he’s going to somehow blossom into a number 1 right away. Hell, I’d put money on it that McDermott does what he always does and limits his reps on game day as it is. Because McDermott is an asshat. That’s for another thread, another time. point is we needed help in the WR room, which was proven they thought so as well, since they have signed multiple WRs AFTER the draft. do I think this group will be ok? Yes, I do think they’ll be fine. But that’s more my believe that Allen will bring it out of them vs them being amazing. And then we’ll get to the part where we see Allen’s career wasted away, year after year, thinking….. if only Allen had some true talent at the WR position, what might have been. -

I think the issue is multiple things. 1. they have thrown countless resources at the DE position. Draft, FA. They’ve definitely taken their shots there. 2. The bigger issue to me is the issue that McDermott loves his rotational DLine philosophy too much. It absolutely take away from the need to have a stud pass rusher imo. Even if they did have one on the team, McDermott would still rotate him in and out because he’s an idiot. -

Without quoting the long version of @Sierra Foothills post, I thought I’d add to yours. the bigger issue isn’t trying to manage playing time and touches for 2 young rookies. I look at it more like minimizing the chances of Coleman not working out. Forget THIS SEASON. I’m talking about the long term. We all know that Samuel, MVS, and Claypool are only here for 1-2 years each. Coleman is supposed to be on the other side of that bridge. If he doesn’t work out, we’re right back to where we were, 3 more years down and during our superstar QBs prime. I say this jokingly, but only a little bit. I would have seriously drafted 2-4 WRs in this draft regardless of other needs. Get Josh weapons he can grow with over years. Instead they took a shot at one, and if he doesn’t work out we’re right back to square one again. Except Josh will be 30+ by the time McDoofus and his gaggle of merry men figure that out. -

The Bills have invested so much in receivers in the last 2 years out of necessity. They’ve got big goose eggs for Harty and Sherfield. Gabe Davis never materialized how they hoped. Diggs became a cancer and they didn’t help that situation at all. Then they had to replace out of necessity again after all those goose eggs left. They replaced them with a guy that drops more balls than Davis, a guy that has never proven to be anything special, another guy that is a bigger cancer and headcase than Diggs. And a completely unknown rookie. Yeah, I’d say they have this WR all locked. Got it. he’s not, but he’s not a guarantee he won’t be a complete bust, and again, let’s look at all the candidates we have to replace what we’ve lost. smh I get the hope that everything works out. If it does it’s great. But more often than not it doesn’t work out. We can’t expect all of these questions at the position will be the answers. At least not moving forward. Hell, MVS and Claypool are on 1 year deals. Even IF Coleman is a stud, we’ll still be right back where we’re, next year, looking to replace a real 2nd target. -

And if he’s as good as an early draft pick as Elam was? What’s your plan then? -

So if you had a chance to get someone better in the draft you wouldn’t play them because the plan is to get Shakir more catches. Got it. Lol -

Doesn’t mean they shouldn’t keep trying to look for better. again, the Bills themselves admitted their desire for new WRs. They not only drafted one early in the draft. They picked up Samuel, Hollins, MVS, and Claypool. They have proven they are looking to find new WRs. Regardless of your assumption that Kincaid, Shakir get more targets. And don’t get me started on Coleman. He may be done. He might be an all-pro after the first season. But he might also be a bust. Truth is we don’t know for sure. hell, 2 years ago we drafted Elam in the first rd and Benford in the 5th or 6th. And Benford is clearly better. They don’t take any chances 2 years ago when they needed CB but they did this year with the WR position. Right?!? And anyone that wouldn’t want one because they would prefer 5 Joes at WR make me lol -

Adding more receivers would multiply the chances of actually finding one that wouldn’t drop balls in their hands with the game on the line that’s for sure -

If you really think you’re better off having a bunch of Joes at WR then a top 10 guy then I don’t know what to tell you. There’s plenty of replies I could have made instead of what I did. But at the end of the day none of it makes a difference. In the end plenty of people were angry that Diggs dropped that pass last year which could have won us the game. Instead we want to replace him with a bunch of joes that aren’t even as good. And I’m perfectly fine getting rid of Diggs. But the fact is they are trying to replace hundreds of targets from last year with a has been head case, a guy that drops more balls than Davis, and a completely unknown rookie. Adding more young talent is not and wouldn’t have been a bad thing. -

Perfect. How did it turn out for them in the playoffs? Pretty sure they still don’t have rings on their fingers.
