NFL Radio Fan Draft: Bills Pick Hockenson
mrags replied to Just Joshin''s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It’s all a crap shoot. I don’t think they are far off as far as a floor goes. But I feel like Fants ceiling will be higher. Again, don’t get me wrong. I think they are both going to be really good in the NFL. And not taking anything away from guys like Ertz, Or Witten. We’d be thrilled if we got someone like that at TE. I just think Fant has the abilities to become Gronk, Shockey, or Gates in their primes. I’d rather take the upside myself but won’t complain about either -
Can the Bills wait past the 3rd Rd for a RB ?
mrags replied to PUNT750's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’d really like Henderson first and then another RB with some more size. If Sanders is there into the late 3rd, then more back up to take 2 RBs in a row. If not, go with one of the others I listed. Everyone here knows my love for LJ Scott and Patrick. I’d take all 3 this draft -
Alpha Mock V2.0 - Top Ten and Bills picks over 4 rounds

I like Wilkins, Fant, and Harry much much more. Or maybe Burns/Ferguson, Fant, Harry, Jones/Simmons/Tillery/Lawrence/Willis. Not saying all those DTs will be there in a trade back up into the 2nd round scenario. If I’m sure 1-2 of the 5 will be. -

He’s also the fastest RB in the group. Dudes pretty damn good. Could have broken 2,000 yards in a season but sat out the final game to be bowl game ready (I think). To the OP, there’s really no real way to tell until the draft starts fling. Like someone else said, there could be a run. Or you may not see many real RBs go until the late 2nd to 4th many here really like Miles Sanders from Penn State. The Pegula connection cannot be ignored imo. They had him in for a visit as well. He’s probably in their top 3 for backs. Darrell Henderson from Memphis. As mentioned above. The kid is fast and has some serious skills. David Montgomery Out if Iowa State. Big and solid. Has all the tools to be a solid RB in the league. Not super fast. Elijah Holyfield out of Georgia. Evander’s kid. Could be something special. Big. Fast. Physical.any here don’t believe he will even be drafted but he will. Probably round 3-5. LJ Scott from Michigan State. My favorite sleeper pick. This kid has everything. Speed. Size. The ability to be a really good RB in this league. Similar with Holyfield, people here will say he won’t even be drafted. Had an injury his last year and apparently he’s less than ideal as far as off the field. But on the field this kid can get it all done. Most like after round 5 because of his issues. Worth a shot imo. A few others. Myles Gaskin. Bryce Love. Dexter Williams. Devin Singletary. Justice Hill. And my deep, deep, deep sleeper... Jacques Patrick out of Florida State. 6’3”, 232lbs. 4.58 40 yard dash. This kid reminds me of Derrick Henry. Big beefy kid with good movement. Would be a monster imo. Could be had in the 6th or later most likely. -
Daniel Jeremiah: "Bills more than open to trading back"
mrags replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It’s not about accumulating more picks by trading back for MORE players. It’s essentially for less players. They accumulate more picks in rounds 2 through 4 by trading back into the teens. Then they package their multiple picks to get back into the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd for players that have a shot at becoming something. -
In all fairness I’d say his flexibility is far from ideal if his agility is an issue. They go hand in hand. Also, his intelligence is also undebatable to us, just like his injury history. Dont get me wrong. The dude is a monster and might be the best WR in the draft. Although he might not. We could say it with everyone. Id prefer guys that I know have a better route tree. That are more than just speed. Guys that find ways to get open besides running away from defenders. Because Metcalf, will meet game plans for him. Double teams where he can’t outrun the defenses fastest DB and safety over the top. Im not doubting his physical dominance. But not too many had Odell Beckham Jr as the best WR in his draft class and he has risen to the top because he was the best all around WR. Not because he was the biggest or the fastest.

Matt Miller says the Bills are targeting Ed Oliver at 9
mrags replied to HOUSE's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’d rather wait until their picks in the 20s to see if someone falls. Hock. Fant. Burns. Metcalf. And try and trade a 1st next year and something other than a 2nd this year to live back up and get a 2nd top tier talent -
NFL Radio Fan Draft: Bills Pick Hockenson

I prefer Fant myself. I think he’s for more upside. But don’t think you can go wrong with Hock. I think Fant will give you more of a take the league by storm (Shockey, Gronk, Gates) quality of play. Hock will give you Witten, Gonzo type. Both good in their own right. But Fant could be much more explosive -
We are 100% agreeable with Oliver and where we see him. I think he’ll be a rotational guy imo. I don’t disagree with your take on the WR position if you can get that guy. I just don’t know if I think Metcalf can be that. For one, he’s had multiple injuries that take away from him. A big fast, hard to cover guy could be any one of those guys I said. Except they all have better route running abilities. I don’t deny we need a big physical WR and I think Metcalf has that. I’d just rather sacrifice a little top end speed with a guy that’s more agile. Every one of those guys I said above has that and you won’t have to give up a mint for them. Maybe Harry and Brown in the first bit Butler, Hall and Harmon are all 2nd to 3rd rounders.

Good but it would prefer a move back and pick up more picks and still get Hock -
I agree with your take on Oliver. There’s safer bets to be had for less at the position. However I feel the same way at WR. For every Tillery, Wilkins, Lawrence, Jones, Willis there is to Oliver. There’s a Harry, Butler, Brown, Hall, Harmon to Metcalf. Agree to disagree on some things I guess. If that’s why I say trade back and get one of the dominant TEs and pick up extra picks so that we can take the safer bets in rounds 2 and 3

Patterns from OBD that have emerged in the Draft

I was thinking this but more in line with Green Bay. New coach. Aaron Rodgers is too big of a draw to not get him some help. If it’s offense or defense, his window is closing and they should be all in to take advantage of that now. They have two 1st rounders. 12 and 30 (I think). They should be targeted. I know the Raiders are in a similar boat that they have multiple first rounders. I can see them taking a stud at 3 and then possibly loving back up into the teens to get another one of “their guys” before it’s too late. My dream scenario is a trade down to the teens. Maybe Green Bay is a pipe dream. Either way, it will be in the table somewhere in the teens to move back. Then have Oakland fall in love with someone and feel they need to move up to get him. Giving you multiple firsts and multiple 2nds. Its definitely a dream scenario, but if all goes right, it is potentially realistic. Could still get a pair of studs in the DL with someone like Wilkins and Ferguson, or Burns with the 1st rounders. And then get yours TE and WR in the 2nd. Maybe Sternberger or Smith and Butler, Harry, Hall or Harmon -
All some of them took was 2 trade backs in the 1st round. One to 12ish, and then to the mid 20s. Ended up picked up crazy picks to love back which would be about normal
-
Well. I guess I should have said Oliver. But I don’t think the 2 together are possible without giving up a lot of capital. Wilkins and Ferguson works because you could trade back and pick up an extra 2nd rounder and maybe more by moving back to the mid teens. Oliver won’t be there by then. And Ferguson won’t be there in the 2nd round most likely. At least not at 40. Maybe he slides to the beginning of the 2nd and you only have to give up a 4th and maybe a 5th along with 40 to move up to grab him. But I doubt it. Besides, I don’t like Oliver
-
He’s probably top 20 easily. Could be around 15 or so. But if he’s your guy, don’t okay around. Just get him Very logical.
-
He won’t make it past the mid to late teens Hughes is getting old. Lawson hasn’t shown anything more than a rotational guy at best. Pass rusher is one of our most needed positions moving forward. He’s one of the best in the entire draft if not the best. Arguably. Our pass as rush was terrible last season and with Lorax and Hughes getting even older it won’t get any better. Get a guy now to rotate in and possibly steal a spot away as a starter if he’s good enough out of the gate. Kinda goes along with my original take. Could trade back for extra picks. Get Wilkins it Ferguson or both. Or one or the other and trade back up for one of the TEs. I’m not sure Hock will be better than Fant. But both should be very good. This YOU ARE HIGH
-
I look at it this way. Would you rather have Burns at DE and Tillery or Simmons at DT? Or Wilkins or Ed Oliver at DT and Ferguson at DE?
-
Burns is a beast. Jaylon Ferguson is also a monster and would a steal in the 2nd round. Most mocks I’ve seen have him going late first to early 2nd. Another guy guy that’s under the radar imo is Jacai Polite out of Florida. A cheaper version of the 2 imo. Might have the best get off the line out of all of them. But he’s projected to be a mid to late round guy. A real sleeper imo.
-
I thought Harry was still there but isn’t. Doesn’t matter. Jaylon Ferguson is still there and he’s a 1st rounder. Get your DL set for years to come

Why didnt we sign WR Tanner Gentry?
mrags replied to IgotBILLStopay's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I was one who thought they should have signed him last year. But now that we have Beasley, there’s no need. -
Whoever has the Bills should be offering a 3rd, 4th and 5th to move up into the 2nd.
