  1. I reserve the right to feel the need to keep every Special Team ace we have on the final roster. have I ever told you guys how important Taiwan Jones, Kumerow, and Matakevich are?
  2. Or…. they don’t run it a lot because Singletary isn’t that good and can’t be counted on. He Never has been. it’s funny all this talk about RBs and yet here we are, talking about a 4th or 5th RB that likely is a PS candidate, making argument for keeping in the team because he could be a Diamond. Or because Jones isn’t worth it on STs. Regardless the arguments. If we all went back to the spring pre draft and asked if it was worth it to pick up an every down back that can do it all so that we could keep a bunch of STers I wonder what the argument would be.
  3. You’re really going to say 51 yards a game is good for a RB? 🤦‍♂️
  4. I think this is more accurate. Pretty sure it depends on multiple things. Pretty site these guys sign contract with practice squad also. Some players will be more desired than others as well. For example, I highly doubt a QB is making the same as a LB or RB.
  5. I would also agree with this. I really like Ed. But I’d let Ed go in a heartbeat to keep Knox and his relationship with Josh and this offense. He will also be cheaper, and harder to replace than Oliver imo. Part of the reason we went all in on DT and DE In the off-season imo. They find out if they can go with Phillips, Jones, Settle, and Bryant going forward without Ed before making the decision on him. Then they can go out and draft a young kid in rounds 1-3 to replace him. JMO
  6. just an FYI. I watched the video and counted at least 21 “Um’s” or “Ah’s”. Hard to tell which was which in conversation. I do general agree with you though. He is very well spoken for the most part. But after seeing this I decided to count. I was shocked it was so high myself honestly.
  7. Rich Eisen is also crazy about Allen.
  8. He probably likes CJ Spiller and Doug Flutie too. Ugh.
  9. Grats on 14 years. That’s great. There is absolutely no need for additional hype videos for the home opener on a Monday night. I understand they will do things like this. It’s exactly why they put out old timers to rile the crowd up before games. But I highly doubt some pictures on the Jumbotron of renderings what the stadium might look like are needed on a Monday night game, that’s the season opener are gonna do more than than all the booze in western NY imbibed into 74k people is already going to do.
  10. Yeah I had high hopes for Sweeney also. Unfortunately it hasn’t worked out. Some setbacks for him didn’t help. id take my chances with having an actual OL out there as an eligible receiver over having Sweeney at this point also. This x1,000,000. He will likely draw coverage and if he doesn’t, I like the idea of having a tall, go up and get it guy who is by far the tallest pass catcher in the field. id feel more comfortable with keeping Knox and Howard and having Gilliam as the 3rd man on game days. He also plays FB and is a special teamer as well. Someone that actually gets use out of multiple positions. He will dress almost every single game. you can probably stash at least one of Sweeney and Morris on the PS.
  11. They are probably just making room to trade a first round pick for Taiwan Jones. Have you seen him play special teams? Freaking amazing. First ballot HOFer as a gunner.
  12. I like Morris quite a bit but 100% in Sweeney. They are both JAGs really. But Morris might actually have some upside. Sweeney will never be anything more than JAG. The terrible thing is, up until a few years ago, he’d be a guy that we would be excited about as a starter.
  13. If that useless scrub could even earn us a bag of footballs and a case of Yoo-hoo, and we don’t do it, I’m going to lose it.
  14. Yeah. Hadn’t thought about that. I guess a 5th rounder that could turn into a 4th if he gets his accuracy numbers up a bunch. the other issue is his contract. Nobody is gonna want to take that over. Idk. He offers something that none of the other TEs offer. Sheer size to start. There isn’t another one on the roster that has his end zone capabilities.
  15. If it’s not at least a 3rd rounder then forget it
  16. Because we have the special teams players in Araiza, and Bass that have the ability to create as a lower number of returns than the average. all of these guys do play special teams yes. And anyone can be taught to run down the field and stay in your lane. That’s coaching. Not ability at that point. And more than anything… because if I’m going to keep a guy as my 4th RB, or 6th or 7th receiver. I want a guy that actually produces at any level at the position. A guy like Taiwan Jones is a waste of a roster spot. He has shown absolutely nothing in terms of position play on offense. I’d much rather take a guy that had some spark in him. not to mention that next year we will likely be losing Singletary in FA. And I’d feel much better going into next offseason with Moss, Cook, and Blackshear on my roster. Knowing that a guy like Blackshear could produce if needed. Not needing to take another 3rd or 4th round RB every single year. Rinse and repeat. But that’s another argument that I believe in that most others don’t. And that’s spending an early draft pick on a do it all back. Someone like Ettiene, or Hall, and then you don’t have to have 3 RBs that none of them excel at everything. It limits roster space and this has been something I’ve argued about for years. If we would have drafted Hall this year, we could easily save a roster spot for someone like Jones for STs. All while Hall was an every down back where you wouldn’t need 3 completely different types of RBs. whatever you want to believe I really don’t care. Your opinion is meaningless to me.
  17. Great. More room for Taiwan Jones and Jake Kumerow now
  18. Blackshear has been in ever single special teams play so far this preseason from what I’ve seen. He is a contributor. I don’t care about special teams captains. They are a waste of a roster spot. special teams aren’t important. That is why there is only 1 special teamer in the HOF and he’s a punter. The league itself barely recognizes it. this whole argument for me with everyone here isn’t even about Blackshear. It’s the point that STs is a waste of a roster position. I don’t care who it is. LB. WR. RB. DB. Any position. I’ll take an extra player at any position vs just a guy that runs down on kickoffs. Hell, I would rather kick the damn kickoff out of bounds and give it to our opponents at the 40 every single time we score, and count on our defense to hold them instead of giving scrubs like Kumerow and Jones jobs. They are useless on this team and good for almost nothing.
  19. Just stop. I don’t care about your ridiculous opinion, or anyone else’s for that matter on keeping special teams guys. They are wasted roster spots. I don’t care about punt and kick teams.
  20. This is 100% why you don’t care about carrying a bunch of STs aces. It’s a waste for us. He did
  21. Naw Mike Schoop is already on in the afternoon.
  22. Steelers game is correct. We were not good offensively in that game but a blocked punt for a TD all because he took incredibly way to long to get the punt off cost us the game 100%.
  23. Not to mention how important it is to have extra special teams aces on your team so they can cover punts inside that land inside the 30 yard line.
