No. They thought the contract of McKenzie was too much for what they were getting out of him so they HAD to upgrade. They know this new guy is going to be an upgrade so they flat out released McKenzie to save a measly 2m. If they thought he was even worth that much they would have just brought him into camp and let him fight it out another year for a Roster spot. But they know he wouldn’t make the cut. Because they don’t believe in him.

That’s why I figured a trade up in the 2nd. I do not believe he last to pick 59. Personally I’d love to use our first rd pick on a IOL or if Robinson is there at 27. And I’m not a huge Robinson guy. But I believe in taking. Playmaker with that pick and I’m not a fan of a single WR in the first round unless Johnston falls which he won’t.

Washington would be my choice. I’d target him in the 2nd. Might have to trade up a little because I don’t think he’ll be there at pick 59. Not after the combine numbers he put up. Hell, some team could go Gaga over him and take him before we pick at 27 for all we know. I’m a fan of Laporta and Kuntz as well.

I like the tape in Laporta. He looks like he may be good at the next level. I’d target him in the 3rd though. Not sure he’s worthy of a 2nd. I’d hope for Washington in the 2nd with a trade up possibly. But I’m not sure he’ll last that long. But I think Kincaid, Meyer, and Musgrave should all go ahead of Washington. Maybe even Laporta. Just all depends on how things land

Beane still looking to add big bodied RB to roster

Kendre Miller please. In the 4+ -
Yeah. Seems to be an issue imo.

So sad because it’s true

But we got some flashy wr that makes Roscoe Parrish look large just yesterday. We should be good

Yes. Because he’s terrible and doesn’t deserve to be on the team. He didn’t win the slot job unquestionably even though they practically handed it to him. He botched quite a few plays that could have really made his presence felt but he failed. if you made an argument that he’s at best our 4th Wr I could accept it. But I’m not looking to utilize him over Diggs, Davis, or even Shakir. Of Beasley comes back he will be in play as our slot again. id argue that any rookie drafted prior to the 4th round should absolutely be used more than McKenzie should. He’s a gadget role player at best and for that, I’d argue that he is extremely overpaid.

Players that didn’t/don’t deserve a roster spot: no matter what the contract is: Matakevich Kumerow Taiwan Jones that are extremely overpaid for being average at best: Epenessa Singletary Can Lewis Siran Neal McKenzie guys that are a little better than average but are being payed way too much: OLIVER guys that are pretty good but are being extremely overpaid: Dawkins

This. breaking ground is going to start by summer. They have dates in mind lined up. this state moves extremely slow with many things but mark it down in stone. They will begin breaking ground by WNY spring. So sometime by may-June

After watching this clip and what he did against Kelce in the SB. I think there may be fire where this smoke is. Not saying we will get him, but I’d bet they are interested. https://youtu.be/Qs9KzSoT4OU

Don’t be so sure. McDermott loves him some DE in the first and 2nd round and can’t ever get anything out of them.

Exactly. Which is why I’d rather sign a skill position like WR, S, or RB to a contract in FA and take my chances of drafting one. of course just because it’s a guard doesn’t mean they will be good. But the odds are greater you find a reasonable starter in year 1 out of a first rd talent at guard than you do with the 5-6th best WR available to you at the 27th pick. The only WR that I’d take there if available (which he won’t be) is Quintin Johnson.

I understand all that. But $10m+ for a starting guard is just too much for a team that apparently has cap issues. It’s not a position that you generally spend that kind of money on. If we get a top guard in FA I guess but he better be an amazing guard. I’d rather put that $10m towards someone like Chark, or Campbell, or hell, everyone here still talking about OBJ, or now Henry in a trade. What about Williams. Skill position players are guys you spend big money on imo. Guards are just guards. Get one young in the draft. If you go with a first rd talent at G he’s probably going to turn out to be pretty good. yes they screwed up with Ford. But let’s be real, he had the traits to be a good player. They screwed up on his mentality and desire to eat cheeseburgers every day. He was a fat tub of goo by the time we traded him. He also wasn’t a top tier OG in the draft. He was a OT and not a top guy. He was a stretch. but yes, the FO has issues drafting in general. I don’t have faith they will get it right. But if a guy like Torrance in the first, or Avila in the 2nd is there, I’d run to the podium. Hell, if a guy like Broderick Jones fell in the first I’d take him, or Dewand Jones in the 2nd I’d take him. Then move Dawkins to Guard. just saying I’d rather take my chances drafting a OL early and picking up confirmed skill positions in FA.

Your going to get one of the best guards in the draft If you go in rd 1 or 2. but I also didn’t say it would be cheaper. Id just rather spend the resources in a proven WR in FA than try and get one in the draft where we have no idea if they will work out. I think an early OL is less risky in the draft than an early WR. Especially this year where I don’t think there are many good first round talent WRs. Almost all of them are way to small for my liking. WRs that weigh less than 200lbs and under 6’ are practically worthless to me. Unless you’re looking for a slot guy. And yes, I know Diggs is only 6’ and 190lb. He’s an exception not the rule. He was also traded for because we knew he was good prior to coming here.
